Oh I agree, I think I actually prefer it that way. I only wish I had thought of the same thing. It would make logging in a lot faster. Ahh, regret, my old friend...

Sadly, the latter does not often help the former. But welcome aboard! That just means more time for chewing.

At least with film school I would have a good reason for being poor. Eating cold noodles from a shoe will have a certain elegance to it when it's under the guise of a "struggling artiste". You're right, though, until I give in and resort to plying my trade as a rent-boy there will be plenty of time for chewing!

UK chewers are always welcome.

You'll also find that with us being in recession, many universities in the UK are encouraging people to take up education rather than simply be unemployed. I've heard of grants being offered too.

Yeah, getting grants should be no problem from what I've gathered. It's mostly personal affairs that need sorting before I can get started on my ridiculous life-changing plans. I've got friends in London who work in the film industry, so it's added incentive to move down there. If only so I can mooch off them.
Gosh, I think that makes a good half dozen of us British Chewers now. We're almost set to break Chuds' record of 8 British posters.

It's always great when we get a new chewer whose actually studying how to make film. It generally brings new perspective to discussions, so I'm hoping everything works out for you despite this ongoing Moneygeddon.
When we hit nine I saw we vote you out. Not only will there be too many British posters, but you're already way past the height limit.
Fuck, I gotta let somebody know about all the collusion going on in here.

Don't forget about a trumped up RICO charge with a side of money laundering. Those are always needed.

"Barrow-in-Furness"?? Brits get all the cool locale names.

Oh, and Zappa ganked that title:

That may be the greatest thing I have ever seen. Today, at least.

I actually took the name from the 1979 z-movie which is a personal favourite for any MST3K style drinking sessions with my friends.

It's kinda funny that whenever you introduce yourself as a Scandinavian in any kind of foreign (as in "not Scandinavian") forum, be it of the electronical or the "in person" kind, some sort of "viking" comment is almost always the first out of the gate.

Anyway, thanks for the rather (over)enthusiastic welcome...

OK, LET'S GO KICK SOME ELMER D ASS!!!

Sorry, pal, but that's what you get for centuries of raping and pillaging and mocking Antonio Banderas. Oh, and don't think we forgot about that Moorwen thing too...

According to imdb, this movie features Dead Children. Look who just shot up to the top of my netflix queue!

In the weasels defence: those kids had it coming.
You're from the UK, so you might not know better (or maybe I'm just old and this reference doesn't mean anything anymore), but maybe don't refer to yourself as "the weasel".
I think he was talking about the actual weasels in the movie. But you probably already knew that, and were using this as yet another excuse to post about Shore. It never ends.
It's still solid advice.
I had managed to repress all my memories of Pauly Shore, but now they're flooding back... Son in Law... Encinio Man... Bio-Dome... If this is bad then I can't imagine how Pauly is going to feel when his life starts flashing before his eyes.

I'd feel sorry for him, but... Bio-Dome.

Finally I'm on.

After trying a good couple of handful of times, I'm finally registered on CHUD.

And this is me.

^^ The man ripping out his own brains is my boyfriend by the way. Figures.

Hi everyone, I was introduced to this board what seems like a lifetime ago by a good friend, Bobby Bear. I've periodically lurked since. I'm from the ass end of the UK not too far from Manchester, studying TV & Radio and feeling hopelessly depressed about the job prospects of a media graduate.
I've heard nothing but good things about this board and it's members and I'm looking forward to shooting the proverbial breeze and finding members with which to collude on various internet projects. Flattery aside, it's great to finally get signed up.
Welcome!
Welcome, indeed! Once again, great to have you aboard, man.
Hello everyone! I am a long-time reader of the main Chud website, and now I've finally decided to register for the forums.

I am an animator for a very small animation studio in North Carolina. I love bringing characters to life, but unfortunately I don't get to do that as often as I'd like since we have to rely on client work to pay the bills. That means lots of logo and medical animations at the moment.

I love science fiction and fantasy, so it'll come as no surprise to say that some of my my favorite books are Lord of the Rings, The Dark Tower, Ender's Game, Harry Potter, and Song of Ice & Fire. I spend way too much time playing video games as well.

But this is a movie site, so I should probably mention the kinds of movies I like. Of course my love of sci-fi & fantasy transfers over to films, but I also really enjoy watching animated movies, thrillers, and horror movies. I have a strange affinity for "bad" movies, so I tend to like some things more than most people. My favorite movie so far this year is Up (Hmmm.....an animator loving a great animated movie? Crazy!), but I haven't been to the theater as much as I have in the past.

Anyway, I just wanted to introduce myself, and I look forward to participating in lots of interesting discussions with everybody here. Most likely, I'll be spending a ton of time in the video games forum.

Also, welcome, Weasels, Polygon, and Tigeroovy.
Welcome aboard guys.
Please allow me to introduce myself. I'm a man of wealth... you get the idea.
My name's Mark, and I hail from England. Even though I'm (a sprightly) 28, this is actually the first internet message board/community I've ever joined, which partly explains why I was so bad at picking a username. I don't hate movies, so I don't hate CHUD. I've been reading the site, message boards included, for around 7 years, so it's great to finally be involved. Thank you for having me.
"Well I'm Mark T and I'm back from the dead" would have also been acceptable.

Welcome, sir.

Eh, it's not that bad. I'm happily ignoring the bulk of it and I can still get out of bed in the morning.

Hi, Mark! Good to finally have you around.

Greetings, new people! Just a word of warning...

All the nice words and rays of sunshine that Bobby Bear throws your way, are carefully crafted by him and his cronies to make you listen to his horribly addictive podcasts!

Run. Keep running, and for the love of God, do NOT look back!

Just discovered this thread. Howdy folks, I'm Warren Peace. My hobbies include paying double for every good I purchase and writing letters of thanks to the distributers. Also, I voted for Barack Obama. Really, doesn't that say everything you need to know about a person?
That it does, Lima. I appreciate your candor.

Actually, he arrived at the perfect time.

Mark, you will be our new Spike Marshall. Now go start a thread about some foreign film.

Been posting here for a while, and contributing to the Thor's Comic Column, but somehow, just noticed this thread.

So... um... been watching movies, listening to music, and reading comics (off and on) for a very long time, and have on a few occasions been paid to write about them.

Worked in the music business (radio, record store management, buyer for large retail chain, sales/promotion for a few of the major labels) for 20+ years. Then the music died. Or maybe it was only the economy. Either way, the only really transferrable skills I acquired in the music biz were in advertising and marketing, which I now do for a nonprofit.

Live in the San Francisco Bay area, work in downtown S.F. Married many years, daughter in college. Prefer rhythm guitar, but can play lead if necessary.

Nice one. I'm still trying to add lead capabilities to my limited rhythm repertoire.

Well, I don't mean to interupt the British invasion that's apparently gone on in the last month here...but I'm a damn Yankee looking to exercise my first amendment rights on films and whatnot. Hopefully I can add some meaningful discussion. I'm a writer by trade, renaissance man by practice.

Love the name, Jerkstore. That was a great episode of Seinfeld.
Gracias. I would have gone for "all-time top seller" to stay true to the show, but it wouldn't quite fit. I hope I haven't compromised the integrity of Seinfeld.

Hello, everyone. I've been a huge fan and lurker of the site for a while now and finally decided to give in and join the forums.

I'm a recent graduate of the broadcasting and cinematic arts program at Central Michigan University who is looking to break into television news (don't beat me up too much). But I do have a minor in cinema studies, so maybe I can contribute some knowledge in the area of movies.

Like a lot of people on the boards I tend to gravitate toward science-fiction and horror films, but I try to keep an open mind and watch different genres. Also, I'm a terrible writer so you will have to put up with some awful grammar. Good Luck!
