Best to keep your shoes on, though.

Loughman, Welcome to...CHUD.COM. Don't worry, there are people with less posts, so you will not be the...LOUGH MAN on the totem pole for long. Just kidding, there are no...Totem Poles.

Well.. since you are signing up for the website and not a part in the film, I'd hope you'd at least give us a chance

PS Is your name inspired by "TV's Frank"?

Yes, ma'am.

Because it's cheaper than a movie and there's free coffee.

It was just a joke, and obviously not a very good one.

Well cool! I'm a fellow MSTie, having discovered the show on late night cable at like 2 am back when I was 10 years old or so during a sleep over. I had *no* idea what I was watching, only that it was hilarious. The episode that was on? I think it was either INVASION OF THE NEPTUNE MEN or SPACE CHIEF. I just remember little Japanese children running everywhere they went

PS Mike Nelson sent me an email when I was at YWCA camp! I wish I still had it. My mom emailed that website he ran with other MST3K people after the show ended (I wish I remember the name of it but all I remember was "hands" was in the title and it featured humorous articles about syrup) and he responded! My mom mailed me a print out of the email. It just about blew my mind

EDIT: I was talking about TIMMY BIG HANDS
post #810 of 983
It's always nice to meet another MSTie. Cheers!

That's pretty cool about Mike e-mailing you. I'd most likely print out and frame anything any of those guys sent me.

Thank you Princess Kate and duke fleed.

Hi, my name is Nothing & Ive been lurking on here for a bit before deciding to join. This place is massive & a little intimidating, but I figure if I limit myself to just a handful of sections, it will be more manageable?

Anyway, its good to be here. I'm a big fan of foreign films, so I hope to find some enlightening conversation & hopefully make some decent contributions myself.

Welcome aboard.

Be careful to not endorse rape.

That's how I do it and I've somehow survived for a few years. There are two or three sections I go to every time and then there are sections I only look into maybe twice a year.

The main thing to remember is never to take any questioning of your viewpoints and opinions personally (even if they're attacked personally). Many Chewers are very passionate about films and sometimes get a little wild-eyed and crazy about defending their views, but ultimately you always need to remember the reason you come to CHUD is pretty much the same as theirs and the majority of Chewers are on an even keel. They love the world of film and they love good writing about the world of film, so ultimately we're all on the same team. Like Maverick and Iceman.

Welcome, Nothing! Good to have you here.

As to your feelings of intimidation:

Yes there are many sub forums, but in time I think you'll find that that aspect of the board is one of it's greatest assets. There is a place for everything, and with practice, you'll be able to put everything in it's place.

I would actually suggest starting out by taking a look into every section of the board, and post on the threads that interest you. Don't limit yourself right off the bat. In time you may end up talking in some sub forums more than others, but best to let that happen naturally IMHO. I don't talk much about sports these days, but when I first joined I still made sure to share my thoughts on the BRS. But hey, everyone is different so it's up to you to tackle this however you think is best. These are just suggestions. Anyway, good luck and I look forward to hearing your views on the board

PS Always keep an eye on 'now talking' on the main page to see what other people are chatting about

Thanks for the welcomes & the advice, Nexus, Bucho, & Kate. I appreciate it.

Having taken advantage of the newly opened registration, I bid you all a warm welcome.

Howdy.

Welcome Dennis, good to have you on board.

Dennis Moore, It is always a pleasure to welcome...Moore chewers. Howdy Back.

A quick note to you new chewers, expect to be called a troll for the first few months - and as a general rule, the more posts someone has under their belt the more you:
a) can ignore them.
b) can expect to get abused by them.

Enjoy!

I get to fuck all the new boarders.

Also, ignore what he said. If you're not a drooling idiot, you'll be fine. And you'll probably be fine even if you ARE a drooling idiot. I mean, I'm still here.

Jake politely holds the door wide open for all CHUD virgins... but the cost can be too much to take in one sitting.
Good evening and welcome, Dennis. They say every Chewer has two birthdays, and the second is when they become a member of the CHUD-munity(c).

Happy Birthday.
Shucks. Such a reception. A welcome change from the rampant cynicism that is the modern-day Weezer fandom I'm fleeing from.
Welcome, Dennis! Hope you have as much fun here as the rest of us!
Hey guys,
Hope this is the right thread. Wanted to chime in and introduce myself! Looking forward to some good film discourse!

Good morning, welcome and happy birthday RF.

PS Your user name: Ew!

Fixed that for ya, Kate.

And welcome to all new Chewers. Most call me Cornelius around these parts, but there's another Cornelius (Cardew). Kate calls me KFC, as do a couple others. I personally don't give a crap. Call me "Hey you" if you wanna.

PS If Jake offers you the "nickel tour" of the chud boards, don't take it. It's best not to ask why, but it does involve a live chicken, a weed eater and some peach preserves. And dick.
This flood of new Chewers is exciting, KFC. They should open up the registration more often (IMHO)

Hi Chewers!

It's about three years later and I'm finally in. Seriously, lurking isn't fun. It's been like being locked out of a swinging party.

Stay classy guys!

I know what you mean, Mr Pants. I'd been reading the forum for a while before I finally was able to join. I'm glad you don't have to lurk in the cold anymore, but FYI this party is BYOB/P.

Hey PK, I've always wondered - how and when did you find out about chud?

When? 2005, perhaps. Maybe 2004. I can't be sure. I found CHUD through an "external reviews" link on IMDB. I used to spend alot of time reading reviews of movies I'd already seen and enjoyed back then, searching far and wide to read every available opinion on films that I loved. Time and time again I found that CHUD's take on films was more or less in complete sync with my own, and eventually I became a regular news reader on the site

Over time I started to observe message board and found it to be home to one of the funniest and most insightful collection of miscreants ever to assemble on the world wide web.

I was compelled to join, but had difficulty registering. Then, after years of effort, I was at last able to join your ranks back in August of 2K9

Leave it to a coonass to quote Ray Stevens. Awesome stuff.

Hi, guys! It's great to let loose and finally join this little loveshack you guys have here. Hopefully I can add whatever I can to any film discussion I have the pleasure of taking part in. Whoo, this is exciting. Oh, sorry in advance for the lame username, by the way. Now... off to get an avatar!
Hi, I'm new and currently watching Righteous Kill and regretting it very much...unless Carla Gugino gets naked at some point.

Anyway, 'sup?
CQuinn, sorry to break it to you, but she doesn't. Yet, there is a scene where she (and her boobs) bounce up and down while DeNiro buttfucks her or something like that. Only memorable part of the movie. Oh, anyways, welcome, CQuinn!
She has a bra on during that scene, should've mentioned that...
Hello, all. I'm not sure how much I'll post, but I figured I'd jump in and register while the registerin' is good. Perhaps I'll commit myself to reading through some of the forums first. Any suggestions for especially fruitful forums outside of the big ones?
The Miscellaneous Culture and Humor forums are pretty good if you aren't talking about film that day. Also, if you want to know anything about music just ask DaveB in the music forum. Basically, GMT start wherever you feel most comfortable posting and go from there. Looking forward to seeing you around these parts.
Welcome all you new posters. Good to have you on board.

GreatMindsThink, CQuinn, Mike's Pants, Park Chan-wookie, Welcome to CHUD.COM! The B Action Movie Thread is...Awesome! If either of you like action films, it is even...Better!

Park Chan-wookie, There are...No, lame user names. I would of course suggest a...Wookie Avatar.
I've always thought this was a strong starting point for the Chud forums
post #847 of 983

Spawn more overlords!

I've been lurking, zerg style.

In general, I'm an idiot. I'm aware of the recent banning of Doug (BobClark) and I'll probably end up the same way, since I have a rebel's disdain for the rules. And I smell kind of bad most of the time.

Before I go, I want to learn lots about movies. LOTS. I've decided that you will be my teachers and I will be your "grasshopper," but not literally (bugs are creepy).

Long live the chudmunity!
Sphere_Monk, First, Don't call yourself an...Idiot. Welcome to...CHUD.COM. Check out the...B Action Movie Thread, if you are a man of...Action.
Greetings folks....

I've been a committed lurker of this site for over 2 years now. Nowhere else on the web comes close to complementing my personal sensibilities. Looks like the site is on the cusp of a new era (for better or worse- my vote is on the former).

Personally, interacting with my despondent peers on facebook has been such a profoundly retarded waste of time. I'd much rather invest any free time I've got away from work/school towards a community of like-minded folk with a strong sense of conviction for their passions and a wicked sense of humor to boot.
