Star Wars (Ep 7,8 & 9) - Page 2

I might be wrong but didn't Indiana Jones Chronicles fail?

I think TV is a different animal. I'm sure people will tune in to Star Wars TV initially, but unless the shows are better than stuff like LOST or the plenthora of reality shows, it might not fare very well in the long run.

Yeah, Skywalker Sound I'll give you, but ILM is competing with WETA right?

Indiana Jones wasn't Indiana Jones. It was a kid running around pretending to be him with an educational slant. It was never going to bring in huge audiences.

A Boba Fett show... I think that's a bit of a different story. Again, I think it depends how they do it.

I thought the same way before I saw THE YOUNG INDIANA JONES CHRONICLES which, by the way, I actually thought was a pretty decent show. It just completely failed to deliver what mainstream fans wanted. I don't care how "dark" or "intense" McCallum claims this STAR WARS show is going to be...he said the same thing about EPISODE II, and it was a whole lot of big-assed space cows and dumb characters.

As far as 7, 8, and 9... I dunno. I think everything that needed to be said has been said.
Then why do TV shows?

That's pretty much how I feel. If it's Babylon 5 with lightsabers, forget it.

I'd rather have Lucas release the OT on DVD...oh wait, it's happening!

In that case, I'd rather have Lucas release a souped-up version of WILLOW to theaters.

What about getting a good chunk of the original cast (Hammil, Ford, Fisher and Lando Griffin) for the first installment, and then have them hand the torch to a new set of characters for the final two films.

No...for the love of God...

I'd rather he use his evil powers of digital revisionism on the one Lucasfilm production that actually might benefit from it: HOWARD THE DUCK.

Or he could actually make a few of those experimental films he kept crowing about, that I doubt we'll ever see.

I don't know if my heart can bear much more of his (mis)handling of STAR WARS and INDIANA JONES. His recent comments about INDY IV and the upcoming DVD release of the OT again prove how out of touch he is. But I do have to give him points for taking a swipe at Tom Cruise and M:i:III. I guess that's the upside of him being a crazy billionaire who doesn't care what people think.

Hammi's looking a bit like Gollum there... I guess he got his hand on the Ring.

My only experience with EU is the first three Timothy Zahn books as well as Kevin J. Anderson's "Jedi Academy" Trilogy. Plus I've read Steve Perry's "Shadows Of The Empire". Those are the only books I've read, but I was a kid when I read them and I wouldn't really be interested any other EU books anymore.
But having said that I did really enjoy those books when I read them, and I'm still not averse to Star Wars comic books. I have a big collection of those, and I'm always happy to read one every now and then.
I couldn't read an EU novel, but I'd happily skim through a comic book. I loved "Dark Empire". I thought it was amazing. I'll never forget that one.
As for a 7,8 and 9, that's a resounding NO. The world doesn't need it. The Star Wars films are over, done, and dead as a door-nail.
There's just simply nowhere else to take the story. IMO that is.

I agree - when was this picture taken? Hamill looks better than he has in years, Ford looks cool too, but Carrie Fisher looks more like Sy Snootles now!

Cruise is good friends with Spielberg, and that didn't even stop him from making those comments. I love it.

I'll take any of the prequels over vacuous garbage like M:I III. Frankly, there's just no comparison in my book. The prequels, while uneven and action-driven, didn't feel like they were on auto-pilot every step of the way, unlike the latest M:I. And the core storytelling engine evident in the prequel trilogy is much more conducive to film discussion than the barely digestible don't-color-outside-the-lines approach J.J. Abrams and crew followed to a tee.

She does look as if all that coke has come back to haunt her.

I'd be stoked for new Star Wars movies. I love that world Lucas created so I don't see why there shouldn't be more.

I think the only way i'd wanna see the trios adventures continue is via a videogame where the all voiced their roles and was not half assed or a CG film.

I like the videogame idea...
