Bioshock - Page 2

So, BioShock. It got 10 out of 10 in OXM UK and 95% in PC Gamer. Anyone want OXM scans?

http://forums.2kgames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2258

Well, I'm excited. Even more so. My Mass Effect energies have transfered over.
I was hoping this would just come to PS3 eventually but now that I no longer posses a 360 owning roommate, the gamer in me is getting restless.
I'm already more excited for this game than I should be. I will not be viewing those scans, no sir. Why does this have to be released at the END of August? I think they should move the date forward to, say, next Wednesday.

Finally, they've released PC system specs, and my computer falls safely within the requirements! Hurrah!

I barely make them, CPU and RAM-wise...

I need my fix of Shock. It's been way too long. Long enough to play it at a low setting....
Just picked up a pre-order from Best Buy (they also show 8/21 as the release date). Hopefully this will keep me busy for a month until Halo3 is released.
This game singlehandedly justifies my 360 purchase. I was starting to really jones for a new game, but nothing really seemed all that great after I finished up Gears (not a military shooter or sports fan), and I actually regressed to playing some old PS2. The fact that Mass Effect is right behind it is icing on the cake.

Fun fact: This means your computer could also run NASA.

Who says I'm not?

No kidding!

You may have noticed by now that the Mars rovers are all busily scrawling giant middle fingers and butts in the red dust of that dead planet.
I thought for sure they'd be drawing:

8===> (_(_
Oh no, I'm saving that for the finale.

I knew it. The recent news that the astronauts have been going up hammered proved your involvement.

Can't wait for this game. I'm glad there is no multiplayer and they focused on making it a great single player game. I'm sick of the mediocre games rushed out with multi-player just to capture the 12 year old punk ass market. I hate those fucks on Live with a passion. Yes, it is because they completely and utterly own me in Gears and Halo but that's beside the point.
Those requirements are exactly why I got a 360. Since I've only got a notebook computer, a cheap upgrade isn't really an option and the only way I could play any 360 ports is if I bought a whole new desktop for a a lot more than the price of a 360.
Fun Fact: It actually cost me less to build a computer with those specs from scratch than it would've for me to get a fully-loaded 360. Not making a judgment call, just saying it's a lot cheaper to upgrade your PC than you may think, if you've got one that needs upgrading.
There are rumors of a demo to be released "soon". If it is, there will be a Jacob-Singer-shaped cloud of dust as I zip over to the 360 to download it.
That's going to prove untrue and I will hate you forever.

Well, that or it's going to cost $2.50 to download.

This is something that I've done before, but my abilities with bulding computers have completely disappeared. By this point, I would completely fuck it up. It's what I get for dealing exclusively with botebooks and Macs for the last two years.

But anyway, how much did it cost? From what I can tell, it would be about $400 just for the RAM, video card and CPU.
$450, total. I reused the monitor, and didn't have to buy a new mouse or keyboard, but everything else is brand new. The ram I got pretty cheap, good Corsair ram, 2 gigs brand new for $70. Can't beat that.
Ah, good deal. The problem for me is that I would have had to get a monitor as well, though. Still, that's not as much of an increase as I originally thought.

Well, by "soon", I meant "sometime between now and several weeks after the game's release".

Here's the rumor itself:

I hate demos that come out after release, especially for games like this. Because I know I'm going to pick this up at some point in the next 4 or 5 months, but playing the demo will let me know if I need to get this or Stranglehold first.

I just assumed that was the drunk astronauts at play.
So, how sad am I that my 360 goatse-ed me with the 3 red rings and won't be back until at least a week after this drops?

Very sad.
I'm a little anxious that there hasn't been a gold announcement yet. As much as it'd be nice to see Irrational get some of Rockstar's marketing money, I'm not really looking for it to literally replace GTA 4 this October.
Is it standard practice to issue a press release when a game is finished, though? I know we see it once in a while but I don't see the lack of an announcement as a harbinger of doom. Mostly I'm trying to stay optimistic because I want a new 369 game.
It looks like the hype wasn't for nothing. BioShock got 95% in PC Gamer UK and 10/10 in OXM UK.

It's gone gold.
Hooray!
Locked and loaded! Sweet!
Nice, now I just need to choose between playing it on my pc or 360.
Wooooo!
I've gotta stop reading this thread. I'm like a fat guy on a diet who watches the people in the ice cream store through a window.
The Bioshock Launch Trailer will premiere tonight during The Kill Point on Spike TV.

Major Nelson is saying that after the premiere Geoff Keighley will make a surprise announcement.

Most on the Xbox fourms are thinking demo.....I doubt it but will tune in to find out(Supposedly it'll go down around 9:45pm)
It's hard to get excited about demos when I already know I'm going to buy the game. I mean, anyone who could possibly be interested in this game already knows they're going to buy it, right?

At this point the only thing a demo could do for me is.....Turn me off of the game.
For me, it's about whether I should get this or Stranglehold next week.
It's the demo.....IT'S UP NOW.
Let's see how long this one takes.

I know I'm going to buy it but I'm still pumped for the demo. Hell, I ran to my 369 as soon as the announcement was made.

I'm just sad that my download speed for the Stranglehold demo was horrendous and I'm predicting the same with this demo. I want to play tonight, dammit!
9%

If i'm lucky i'm playing by 11pm
2% per minute would be 50 minutes. I think I'm looking at about 30-45. Much better than that Stranglehold nonsense.

edit: Well, shit, the download hasn't moved in a couple minutes.
Getting better.....I'm at 18%
Now that I shut down and restarted, I'm going again, but now I'm back at 13. I'm gonna play some Geometry Wars to get my mind off this.

I'm feeling your pain......I'm at 27% after a half hour....I'm going back to the football game.
Goddammit, I cut a swath through Manhattan today looking for an HDMI 360 Pro with no luck. This only adds insult to injury. If anyone happens to notice or procure one of these in New York City, TELL ME WHERE.
45% ... watching the John From Cincinnati season finale meanwhile.
I think Bioshock broke the Marketplace.
