Being a lifelong Elvis fan, I'm a sucker for the majority of the made for TV biographies that have been done about him, going all the way back to John Carpenter's 1979 film with Kurt Russell in the role. Then, there was the short lived 1990 series that also ran on ABC. Which was, IMO, very overlooked & underrated.
Then, there was the ELVIS & ME two parter which I also enjoyed, though to a bit lesser of a degree than the previous two.
Now, I know there were a couple of others, like the one that had Don Johnson as The King (UGH!), but I choose to ignore their existence they were so bad...
But, the most recent of these Elvis biopics was most definitely NOT bad. Infact, it was excellent. So much so that it surpassed Carpenter's entry & the '90 series as the best of the lot in my eyes.
My only problem with it is that it still hasn't been released on DVD here in the States. What's the hold up?
I know it just came out on disc this week in Australia, but I haven't seen any news whatsoever about a domestic DVD release.
Anyone else have a clue about this?
