I know I might be alone here, but I have been waiting patiently for Disney's Finch-filled live action Kidnapped. They should hurry up with that.

'if...'
'Hamlet' (the 4 hour Branagh version)
'The Yakuza'

I know that all have been mentioned previously, but I thought I'd throw in my endorsements as well. I'd also like to see that mega-box set of 'Blade Runner' with all cuts, deleted scenes, documentaries, commentaries, etc...that we were supposed to get a couple of years ago.

http://search.deepdiscountdvd.com/se...ustom&w=guyver

I'm gonna add to the list:
Willie McBean & His Magic Machine
Elves (Grizzly Adams' Dan Haggerty as a dpt. store Santa VS Nazi-experiment killer elves!)
Ghoulies 3 (and a few other Charles Band out of prints)
The Forbidden Planet spec. ed. I was promised
This Island Earth (non MST3K version)
Bram Stoker's Dracula special edition (that was available on laser disc. Criterion maybe?)
Razorback
Warlords of Atlantis
The Last Dinosaur
Land Unknown
When Dinosaurs Ruled the Earth
Journey to the Beginning of Time
Gargantua (tv movie)
Dreamchild
Jim Henson's: The Frog Prince, Hey Cinderella!, Bremen Town Musicians, Tales from the Bunny Picnic, the Christmas Toy
And the complete versions of: Emmet Otter's Jugband Christmas, Muppet Family Christmas, and the Muppet Show season 1 (with all those missing songs)

I want the special Bladerunner as well, even if it's been mentioned...

And I can't believe I forgot to mention I've been waiting for one of my favorite classic comedies, Boys' Night Out (w/ Kim Novak, James Garner & Tony Randall) to come out on dvd...

STONE COLD, THE PERFECT WEAPON, and I COME IN PEACE (Not another region's DARK ANGEL) remain the holy trinity.

A few that I'd also love:

STEELE JUSTICE: Martin Kove's true moment of starring role glory.

SIEGE OF FIREBASE GLORIA: Most underrated Vietnam flick ever.

THE CHALLENGE: I already started a thread about the movie, makes no sense that there isn't a DVD.
I'm seconding Branagh's Henry V. Criterion would do well to pick this up.

Good to hear his Hamlet is on the way.

Dreamchild, hell yes.

P.S. Regarding the media studies tutor who hadn't seen Blade Runner: In my experience, film professors who hail from other disciplines (and therefore don't get out to the flicks much) are the rule rather than the exception. In my video store days, I compiled to-see lists for two professors; one a rhetorician who needed a program of courtroom dramas, and the other a political historian who found himself teaching film noir.

Think Clint Eastwood will ever let Breezy see the light of day?

(edit) Whoops, looks like he did when no one was looking. Scratch that from the list. Great, weird little movie.

The Raimi/Coen bros. flick Crimewave. Incredibly flawed, and honestly, not that good overall, but it has moments of greatness here and there. I have it on an old VHS I bought second-hand from a mom and pop video stare, and it's near-about on it's death bed. Plus I'd like to see it in widescreen at the very least.
I figure a special edition(I just want a commentary) is out of the question though, because I think everyone involved with it has pretty much disowned the film. A commentary discussing what the fuck went wrong would be great.

Also:

The extended cut of Hard Target. Woo's second best American film. I've read about the extended version and it's changes., and I want it.

The extended cut of the Thin Red Line.

For all I know these are available somewhere, but not in the states.

And Boogen, howbout "Boogens"?
i picked up rawhead only a couple of years ago. my guess is it wasn't available for too long. Boogens is (or at least, was) out on DVD. oddly, i bought it for someone as a gift, but didn't get one for myself! one of my more idiotic moves. i wonder if i can still find it...?

you can get this on dvd. i just got it from someone off of Amazon...i think. maybe it was ebay... it's a widescreen transfer and i think it might be from a japanese laserdisc. there are japanese subtitles that you can turn off. also, it is under the title, The XYZ Murders, but it is still the movie you are looking for.

on a side note, it's not nearly as good as i remember. but bruce is a riot...as usual.

The Digital Bits has just reported This Island Earth and The Wizard due in late August, here.
I have mentioned this before, but I would love to get a copy of 'Viva Max!' on DVD. Peter Ustinov plays a Mexican general who, after being verbally castrated by his girlfriend, marches his men into Texas to retake the Alamo to reclaim his manhood. I haven't seen it in probably 20 years so my memory is pretty fuzzy, but I remember thinking it was a classic Peter Ustinov performance.

Amazon.com has it for $9.99.

There are also Canadian, French and UK editions available from the other Amazon stores.

Coming out in the fall. Keith Gordon is very active online, and continues to defend his atrocious reworking of Cormier's ending, but the movie does have some amazing performances and one of the greatest soundtracks ever.

Agreed. And excellent.

A tweak in the dialogue (at the end, and a few bits elsewhere), and the film would've been something extraordinary.

Still waiting on one of my favorites neglected comedies from the 80's: GET CRAZY with Daniel Stern, Lou Reed and Malcom Macdowell.

That's funny because I gave up waiting and bought it on VHS which just arrived today (haven't watched it yet). Cost me $25 off of amazon. The things that stick in my head the most: The drug dealer that shoots lightning from his fingers, Lee Ving from Fear singing 'hoochie coochie man', Lou Reed lost in a taxi ... Malcom McDowell having a conversation with his penis (and it talking back!). Classic stuff.

I'm still waiting for The African Queen and Decline of Western Civilization (another film with Lee Ving).

Agreed. This also reminds me that LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, THE FABULOUS STAINS is still regretfully not on DVD.

Where the fuck is "Across the Pacific", with Bogart, Astor, Greenstreet, and essentially the rest of the cast from the Maltese Falcon? It was directed by John Huston and is a template for so many movies (including the Bond movies) that it's a shame it's not on DVD. It is THE forgotten noir classic, in my opinion.

Hell, shouldn't every Bogart film be on DVD by now, let alone one with such an interesting production history? The movie was about a sneak Japanese attack, and the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor while the movie was filming.

Even many Bogart fans haven't seen it, which is a shame.

The Conspirators would be great to have out there too. Not only do you get to see Paul Henreid actually doing the Resistance stuff you hear about in Casablanca, but it's the basis for the first half of Top Secret-- blind salesman and all.

Hey, I just remembered. Soderbergh's King of the Hill. I really loved it the first time I saw it on TV ten years ago or so and can't wait to see it again. Any news on that?

I want Beyond the Valley of the Dolls on DVD now. Talk is Roger Ebert recorded a commentary track for it over a year ago and it was going to be released by Criterion but something got fouled up between them and 20th Century Fox and now it seems trapped in some weird legal limbo.

This just in from The Bits: Blade Runner: The Final Cut is happening.

add "URGH! A MUSIC WAR", a victim of legal entanglings that will probably never be sorted out.

Also, A WISH FOR WINGS THAT WORK, the 1991 Bloom County/Outland television special

wow, FOUR versions? That's more than Criterion's MR. ARKADIN box. I pray we finally get to see those go-go dancers with hockey masks, but that the notorious hospital sequence is left out (it was shown on BBC's ON THE EDGE OF BLADE RUNNER documentary a number of years back and it frankly isn't valuable). Can't wait to see the final version in a theatre...

Steel didn't receive DVD treatment. I say it should.

I know it's a rights issue, but I'd really like to see Welles's CHIMES AT MIDNIGHT someday. It's supposedly the best of his Shakespeare adaptations.

Echoing the love for The Monster Squad & Big Man On Campus (Mocka Malooga Malooga Cathy!) and throwing The Legend Of Billie Jean into the ring, as well. Fair is fair!

Rolling Thunder
Night of the Creeps
Terror in the Aisles

The three reasons why I still have a Laserdisc player.

John Carpenter's ELVIS. A great, uncanny performance by Kurt Russell in his first Carpenter flick.

Good to see The Chocolate War is coming soon.

Looking For Richard was going to be apart of a Pacino boxset called Visionary which I think was going to be some kind of collection with other artisans getting their own editions. But apparently it was put on hiatus indefinitely.

And what's with the powers-that-be having not released The Wonder Years yet?? Come on!
