Rise of Legends

Anybody pick this up? It's the sort-of-semi-sequel to the excellent Rise of Nations, though it's more an evolution (and devolution at the same time) of the franchise, moving in a different direction. It feels a lot like a spiritual successor to StarCraft, which I like. Three races with differing playstyles, plenty of neat types of soldiers to command, and the ridiculously satisfying sound of shattering glass when you storm an Alin city.

It's no RoN 2, but it'll definitely do for now. And the graphics are pretty tight.

I played the demo, which I *kinda* liked... but I was disappointed that it didn't deliver the complexity of Rise of Nations. I thought it was very creative, but I think I would have liked it a lot more if there were age advancements, more buildings, more upgrades, more units, etc... it just seemed so much like 'diet RTS' to me. Is the single player campaign interesting?

I was really looking forward to it, since I'm a bigger fan of the creative fantasy settings than the historical ones. Would you recommend it to someone who was only mildly impressed by the demo?

I'm having a lot of fun with it. I haven't tried the campaign yet, though I know it only focuses on the Vinci race. I'd recommend it, because it's really quite a fun game, it's just very different from Rise of Nations. Like I said, it's more like StarCraft, where the strategy comes from using the individual units well, than it is like RoN, where the strategy came from building and expanding.
