Agreed. I'm loving the show more than ever. I don't have HowardTV, but from what I've heard they've become reality stars in their own right - Gary's wedding reception, footage from Artie's high school baseball team, the Film Festival, clips from doing stand up on the road, etc. They really seem like they're hitting their stride. Artie's roast tonight should be excellent.

Tonight's roast is going to kick ass. Artie's got more things to make fun of than all the previous roastees combined, and that was without the revelations about his dad.

Eric is freaking hilarious. I love the way that ungrateful bastard almost dares you to feel sorry for him. I can't wait to see him float. Also, I'm not 100% convinced that he was given Katharine McPhee's ACTUAL cell phone number. He's also the biggest idiot on the planet for not taking up Tabitha Steven's offer.

To think that now they have all of the KROC tapes uncensored. The size and scope of their back catalog is mindboggling.

So that's Eric? Explains the bitterness. Hope they get him up in that balloon.

Jesus, the post-roast antics are just too much. Richard and Sal are certifiable.

I actually like Gilbert's appearances on Howard, and I didn't see him on The View, but he did a pretty shitty set on the Daniel Carver roast. Compared to the stuff that Lampanelli and even Sal put together, his lack of preparation was embarrasing.

The Artie roast was the best yet. Quinn and DiPaolo were arguably the best ones, especially when they started ripping into Howard.

Shuli had a slow start, but ended strong, especially with that killer Beer League joke that Artie walked right into.

Sal's set was fucking vicious. Who would've thought he'd be such a kick ass roaster?

Lisa Lampanelli wasn't as strong as usual, but even an "average" set from her is better than most. Maybe my expectations were unreasonably high, because she usually kills.

And finally, it was great to hear Yucko break out of his slump. He came charging out of the gates by slamming Mary-Ann, and took off from there -

Well, it's always been other people that have labeled him as a free speech advocate. I'm sure he agrees with you.

Aside from that though, considering the number of years Stern fought the FCC with gradually diminishing support by his corporate backers, from his point of view, he wants to see those same media companies suffer the consequences of not challenging the government back when he was initially getting harrassed.

It's not like he didn't warn them.

BTW, that one-two punch of Robert Duvall and Andrew Dice Clay was phenomenal. I loved how Dice tried to rewrite that early Godfather scene with Tom Hagan in California.

George Takei was great this week. Too bad he won't be back til September. The pics of him and Artie's 'date' at the Guggenheim are great. They seem to pull more and more personal info out of him every time he's in the studio.

I used to dig the Friday show when they first started, but I just can't get into it anymore. Ironically, it has jumped the shark.

Sure he's a capitalist, but he can't value freedom if he enjoys seeing that godforsaken industry reap the whirlwind?

The show is now streaming through both Sirius's and Stern's websites. I've had it on since 7 or so and haven't had a glitch yet.

I luckily have reception in my office with my tuner, but the streaming is nice because sometimes my signal drops out.

"Fly me with balloons...." My wife was getting annoyed the other day when she was on the phone, because I kept saying, "Ehh" over and over again. She hates Stern, although she has never really listened to his show. And one of her best friends listens to him on Sirius, so when we see her, she and I chat about the show, and I think it drives my wife crazy.

A Crazy Alice "Who dis?" ringtone would fucking rule.

The Eric the Midget song parodies will never end. Ever. I love his personal crusade to keep Katharine McPhee off the show. His voicemails just keep getting more and more angry. I love it.

My favorite EtM song is the Tainted Love one. Eh Eh. Dan the Song Parody Man knocked that one out of the park.

I can't understand the people that hate him. Yes, he's an annoyingly ungrateful little shithead, but that's what makes him hilarious. Every one of his phone calls and voice mails are comic gold.

Howard 100 News needs to go. What a shitty fucking concept. I reallly don't give a shit about what's the latest on Robin's boat. If I do, I'll hear it from Robin, not Steve Langford. Any Howard 100 news update with either Lisa G. and George Flowers is just a major lull in the show. The biggest lull I think is Jon Hein. He seems like a nice person but what a dry motherfucker he is. Every employee on the show is fucked up and interesting in their own little way. Not Jon Hein. He really doesn't do a great job selling the Wrap Up Show. His routine is the same everyday. Every sentence begins with "We're gonna talk about" and ends with something that happened on the show. Who gives a shit? As if the Wrap Up Show will one day break its format and NOT talk about the show. I don't see why we need a rundown of what's going on afterwards.

And who the fuck let Penny Croan in broadcasting?

Howard 100 News I think will eventually be whittled down to nothing. They've already fired half the staff. Shuli could be more productive doing something else and the rest of them are rather useless. With the show repeating three times a day I don't need a Warp-Up Show or any other updates.

And Eric failed, but it was a trainwreck I wouldn't mind hearing again. Give him a different cohost every week and watch them try to save the show from Eric's pit of despair.

What's the story on Howard taking another vacation? I think Bubba said he's taking a 2 week vacation. They really should be airing some of the tapes during the hiatus and not just replays from the past 6 months. It's a real disservice to the fans who have been there since the beginning.

I'm not asking for their top bits list, I'd rather them just play an entire broadcast of one of the older shows. I don't know how they archive their tapes, but I doubt it's that big of a hassle.

I'd like to hear his first day on Sirius again. As for the tapes, I'd love to hear some early KROQ/CBS stuff. And although it sounds morbid, his 9/11 broadcast was incredible.

So it sounds like Jackie might be back in the picture in some capacity? Howard said they had dinner and discussed some business but wouldn't say what his plans were?

2 weeks is insane, considering he took a week off around a month ago. I'm going to get shit on for this, but maybe some of the freedoms Howard has now isn't always a good thing. No way would they let him take a week or two off every two months.

The rest of the stuff on the channels aren't that amazing, either.

-Ferrall is useless. Howard was talking about why Ryan Seacrest has to have music playing at all times during interviews and such. That whole time I was thinking about Ferrall. There is always music playing and there isn't any deep, intelligent conversation. It's just constant rambling and a shitload of callers practicing schtick.
-Bubba is great, and has really grown on me. Ned is the shit.
-The Intern Show can be interesting for a few minutes, and more power to you if you can actually listen to the whole show. There's nothing compelling about people who are associated with a celebrity. In development is the janitor show, which talks about items in Howard's garbage, and what kind of soap Howard prefers in his bathroom.
-Riley Martin is only good when they play clips from his show and the gang goofs on him.
-Tissue Time? Thanks to Sirius, we can now have fireside pud-pulling. Great.
-Red Peters kinda proves you can have too much of a good thing. Song parodies are great, but not for a whole hour. And Christ is this guy depressed. Even during his promos he sounds like a tired old man.
-Miserable Men is a treat. What makes it great is that a lot of these guys should not be giving relationship advice, notably Bob Levy.
-And as I mentioned, the Wrap Up Show is kind of pointless with all the replays. Not to mention that Jon Hein is irratating and Ralph really has no place on the show, or life, for that matter.

I see your point concerning the Wrap Up Show, but it's got some strong positives that make it worth keeping. We get to hear a ton more from Gary, who usually provides some interesting background/historical info about the topics or guests discussed.

The other big reason is that its "Unplugged" nature has spawned some awesome material for the show. Without the Wrap Up Show, we never would've heard Robin's quasi-insult of Howard & Beth, not to mention the infamous, "And then you wonder why her kid is black", which led to -

It may not always feel fresh or necessary, but it isn't a total waste of airtime either.

As for the tapes, I know they want to debut them in a big way, but I think they're being overly conservative. Just start playing whatever you've got, and if you get a cool idea later for certain bits or certain episodes, then do it whenever you can.

If they would've had the tapes since Day One, they wouldn't have made such an elaborate event out of debuting them on satellite.

And no matter what his point is, it usually begins with, "Y'know, it's funny" or "Y'know, it's interesting."

Yes, that's definitely true. He starts EVERY DAMN answer with "Y'know, it's funny". A Wrap Up Show drinking game with only that one rule would fuck up anybody.
