For Those of You Who Have Ever Had the Misfortune of Working at Gamestop

Thread Starter
I came across this today over on SomethingAwful.com and felt it was far too funny and honest to go unmentioned. If you or anyone you know has worked (or even shopped) at GameStop, this is for you.

But in case you're still lost when it comes to the pastime of male virgins ages 15-65, look no further than the multiple copies of Game Informer strewn about our stores. Many people ask, "How credible can a gaming magazine be when it's published by a store that wants you to buy all of its games?" To this I say, "We're so impartial we make the countless atrocities caused by nature look like premeditated mass baby slaughter."
Amusing read.

i love somethingawful for their bits of working in retail, they really seem to strike at the life-sucking soul-crushing nature of wasting your life in this miserable field (can you tell i've had my own experiences w/ shitty customers, certainly enough for a lifetime).

having worked in a video game store, i know they are absolutely right in their assesment of the value and quantities of old sports and wrestling games. we would have 30 copies of any 1 terrible wrestling game or 2 year old madden, and people would wonder why they would get 1.50 in credit for them.

DESSLAR, HELP ME!

What is a "bishie"?
From our good friends at Wikipedia:

Quote:
Bishonen is a Japanese term literally meaning "beautiful youth." It describes an aesthetic widely shared in Asia—a young man whose beauty (and sexual appeal) transcends the boundary of sex. Recently, it has shown strongest manifestation in Japanese and Korean pop culture, but it has roots in ancient Japanese literature, the homosocial and homoerotic ideals of the medieval Chinese imperial court and intellectuals, and Indian aesthetic concepts carried over from Hinduism, imported with Buddhism from China, and Korea.

Some western anime and manga fans use the term to refer to any handsome male character regardless of age, or any homosexual character. In the place of bishōnen, some fans prefer to use the slightly more sexually neutral bishie or bijin, but these terms remain less common. The term binanshi was popular in the 1980s. Bishōnen is occasionally used to describe some androgynous female characters (such as Lady Oscar in The Rose of Versailles, Karou no Kimi and Hana no Saint Juste in Oniisama e), or any women with traits stereotypical to bishōnen.

Bishōnen is sometimes also depicted as an anime or manga character that is drawn as if a female, but has male components. This would make it easier for the artist to create a feminine male, rather than drawing a male character regularly.

If someone matching this image comes into your store, place the newest Final Fantasy game on the counter and do not make eye contact. If the word "bishie" is spoken, pull the fire alarm.
Might be the funniest thing ever.
