I know I can't be the only one, but has anyone else in here just had this urge to buy a certain movie, and find out that it really is just crap? I'll be honest, I bought DOOM the other day for some weird reason. Now I cant not even finish it, let alone put it next to my other movies. This is what happens during a slow period in DVD releases.

Rent movies.

And to be completely contrary, you can go blind buy Kiss Kiss Bang Bang.

The only time I've bought a movie I haven't seen is when the price of a previously-viewed copy was the same as the rental price.

From everything I've head on that film, im already on my way to buying it

I've only made one blind purchase in 7 years of DVD buying that I can recollect.

Drive: Director's Cut

And while it's got shitty acting and dumb characters, it's worth seeing for the incredible fight choreography and Dacascos' amazing speed.

Venkman, send me your email address via PM and I will add you as a Netflix friend. I regularly send out recommendations.

Way of the Gun. I was really proud of myself after the opening scene, too.

Then it proceeded to bore the shit out of me. It's gone now.

I don't know what drugs I was on the day i saw it in the theater, but there was a time I thought Charlie's Angels Full Throttle was fun. Bought it, took it home, watched it, and promptly had what alcoholics refer to as "a moment of clarity."

I bought Comic Book: the movie. Yes, I'm a sad man.
Way of the Gun is great. Drive is great. No shame in owning either of them. Way of the Gun has that great shoot-out at the end. Worth owning just for that, but I dig the whole thing.

I have a horrible habit of buying shit that is on sale. If I am Best Buy, or some other store, and a movie that I kinda wanted to see - or saw once and somehow remember having a coupld of good scenes. Bam! It's in my hand and collecting dust on my shelf an hour later. I have so many DVD's that are still in plastic - waiting for the moment when I finally get to watch them.

I had seen it. I had hated it. I still have to hold my sides from laughing so hard when I see the "baywatch" shot with the predator and sanaa lathan. But I still bought Alien Vs. Predator. And I don't know why.

I gave my copy of Drive to Hot Animal Machine. I hope he's OK.
There's no way he doesn't love that flick.

There's a good chance you're the reason I bought Way of the Gun, since I picked it up due to praise somewhere on CHUD.
I bought the good version of Drunken Master (arguably better than Part 2) on eBay and it came with a completely unwatchable copy of Rumble In Hong Kong. And I also bought the Chinatown Special of ROTK, just to see how good one of those bootlegs could be. All of it-- CRAP.

"Shut that cunt's mouth before I come over there and Fuckstart her head" is a good enough line to own that movie I would say.

Possibly, but it does have more than one fan on this site. I didn't really care for it the first time through. But, catching random bits on cable grew my like for it.

See, I really wanted that to be good enough. I just kept thinking, "Come on, get better. Get better!" and it just wouldn't. I only watched it once, so maybe I need to again. It was filled with greatness like the opening and Nicky Katt, I just felt disappointed. It's not a huge loss - it cost me 2.99. That's cheaper than Blockbuster.

Actually I bought that too (cheap off eBay) without having seen it. Pretty good movie.

I bought Masked & Anyomous without seeing it because of the cast and I had heard Bob Dylan wrote it. I am still not sure what the fuck happend.

I just remembered from a post in another thread (unopened DVD's thread). I bought The Avengers (with Uma, Ralph, and Sean) on the cheap about four years ago and have never opened it. I saw it in the theaters, and it sucked, and some part of mind thay day convinced me it would be a fun watch. Hmm..

I bought The Simple Life: Season 2 on DVD for $2 from a bargain bin of a Best Buy just to finish off a gift card from Christmas. I want my goddamn soul back!
There's nowt wrong with DRIVE.
My one and only "blind buy" was "Pitchblack Unrated". I was happy with the purchase afterward.

I own Pieces.

It was $5, you would do the same. Don't judge me.
I bought The Minus Man and was not disappointed at all. Although I was disappointed with The Center of the World.
Bought the Incredibles without even seeing the movie. Guess I was lucky.

Slow your roll big fella, you dealin with the original five fingers of death right here!

I own it, and I've no shame in that either. "Pieces" is the height of comedy.

What is not the height of comedy is "Galaxina", it is however, tragically awful.
The same pretty much goes for Jess Franco's nigh unwatchable "Kiss Me Monster" & "Crimson", and Luigi Batzella's over-hyped and for the most part, dreadfully dull Nazisploitation film, "SS Hell Camp" (The Beast in Heat).
Also, I love Joe D'Amato, but like "Anthropophagus", "Porno Holocaust's" rep precedes it.

Did you know that Pieces was written Joe D'Amato? I´m not kidding.
I really love his trash and horror films, too bad he had to start directing pornfilms instead, when the Italian film industry crashed.
Well, you learn something new everyday. I'm kind of ashamed that I never looked that up, but then I haven't watched "Pieces" in a few years.

It does suck that he started directing porn films, as great stuff like "Beyond the Darkness" showed him to be more than capable.
I want a copy of Ilsa: She-Wolf of the SS.
As well you should, the Ilsa Quadrilogy ("Wicked Warden" being an Ilsa film in name only, and "Tigress of Siberia" still w/out an official U.S. release) represents the best of what the Nazisploitation genre has to offer.

Joe D'Amato called himself the "King of Italian trash cinema" and i agree with him, the man was great!
