I'm just saying that the reason "Animation" is so far ahead is because there are animated war movies, animated action/adventure movies, animated musicals, animated porn, even animated documentaries. What's the criteria? What are people identifying as 'animation' that excludes the other categories? Smurfs?

Why does it matter? Picking the best animated movie is no more invalid than picking the best science fiction movie. Back to the Future, Alien, and 2001 can all be considered science fiction, but are extremely different in tone, mood, and subject. This is going to be a problem no matter what we pick.
