Prey - Official Thread - Page 2

Multi-player is just as bad (actually seemed even more laggy) as the demo. Not fun at all.

I played the single player for a few levels past where the demo ends, it gets better, but it's damn easy.

Then I played more CoD2.

Kinda sucks hearing about the MP being laggy. I tried it once in the demo and wasn't even able to connect. CoD2 had the same problems at launch with crappy lag all over the place, hopefully they'll just patch Prey as well.

Only thing about that is, even with the lag issues it was obvious there was a fun multi-player game to be had. Not so much with Prey.

I just wanna kill one person while hanging from a ceiling. Only one.

You can't die, if you wanted to you could run past almost every enemy in the game. The first boss type fight I was in, the thing was tearing me up, my weapons were barely hurting it so I knew I was doing something wrong. So I get killed, go to the "spirit world", come back after 20 seconds with full health at the exact spot I left off, with the boss injured. Your main weapon recharges so you never really run out of ammo, and I kept shooting him trying to figure out how I was supposed to fight him. By the time I figured out what I should have been doing (it was cool) I had died 3 or 4 times and had the boss's health down to a almost nothing.

I'll frag you from the ground every time Mali. THAT will piss you off.

Worst ending for a videogame ever...

"Prey will continue..."

Not bloody likely.

I rented it and wasn't that impressed.....Can't get more than about a half hour thru it before I switch over to Chromehounds.

You had me scared they went and pulled a Halo 2 on us. Thankfully, or not, the end game would give Return of the King a run for most extended endings evar. Ok, so yeah you fight a bad ass boss - but this time you get to fight them over and over again. Got about 7-8 hours of playtime with the pc edition.

Dark tunnels didn't bother me at all. Though it didn't take long for the game to run out of wtf moments (my favorite being the school bus incident). I liked the progression of Art Bell calls. That and the brief Descent moments splattered in between running and gunning where you cruised around in a shuttle.

Throwing this up on half.com right now. Blockbuster never got in their copy of this for the 360.

So now, is Chromehounds fucking balls as the retards at ign say it is? (and yeah I see mediumdaves, right now, very short thread on the subject)
About the only thing I really liked were the little bits and pieces of subverted earth relics scattered about the spaceship. The schoolbus, the jukebox, the bar, neon signs, etc... Otherwise, this is an undercooked, gimmick game that is in no way worthy of the rating that IGN gave it.
yeah, the environment definitely had cool effects and detail, but the game was just too short.
Overall, kinda unsatisfying. It was more like walking through a funhouse than playing a shooter. The combat never really got heated up the way it does in other shooters. The enemy AI wasn't necessarily dumb, just kind of bland in the way that nothing they did surprised you. They just popped out of a portal, stood there, and would maybe take some cover. I can't recall ever seeing one try to flank me, charge, retreat, or anything that would've added some life to to proceedings.

So I got around to finishing this up last night, what a disappointing game.
Finished this last night myself. Overall I found it fairly fun, but the flying vehicle stuff near the end was tedious and hard to control. Glad I got it off a trade-in, but a rental would have been sufficient.

Did you guys watch the credits to get to that little scene at the end, back in the bar?
Yeah, the flying parts, which there were quite a few, weren't fun at all. I thought the ship control was fine when I could keep it oriented correctly, but that was almost never.

I missed most of that final, post-credits conversation, the sound on my copy was kind of screwy.

ABout 3 quarters of the way done this game. Good, simple, dumb fun.

I've had a couple flying levels so far and flying the damn thing wasn't a problem...hitting people on the other hand....

Just got passed that big twirling Cube puzzle. That was interesting.

Glad I didn't end up purchasing this since the online is royally fucked.

Unfortunately...my 360 died on me twice the other night. Turned it off and back on again and it was fine after the second death. It flash the red rings though. Thank God for that 1 year warranty from EB.
I never got the red rings when mine crapped out. If you get the green checkerboard, start making calls to replace it.

My new 360 works fine, but after an hour or so it gets extremely loud. Not sure if it's another fan kicking on or something, but it always makes me cringe.
Haven't had the green checkerboard over heating but I have noticed a bit if fraying of the wries on the power brick itself. The 2nd time it died was because my buddy was celebrating a goal in hockey (shitty one too) and accidentally hit the power brick. That caused it to "black out" again. However, we turned it on and played a few more games before calling it an evening.

Been too busy to try it the past couple days but I'm going to bring it in this weekend and get the whole thing changed (keeping my hard drive though) brick and all. THe powering off is only the begining from what I've heard.

I'm enjoying this a lot so far. Glad I rented instead of buying, but this still blows Far Cry or Quake IV out of the water.
Not a fan of Far Cry, Slater? You're one of the first I've heard who didn't think it was the second coming in videogames.

9/10 ? They gotta be kiddin. AI sucks, the weapons are lame and the gameplay is rather boring. Also way too short, with a laughable "multiprey" mode. Granted, some of the designs and ceiling/portal stuff is neat, but not enough. The thing the game lacked the most was atmosphere. No time the aliens came up as threatening or the "Aw fuck, I'm a human on an alien space craft" feeling. You wouldn't run around easy like that, insulting and screaming like a drunk hillbilly.

Why is it most modern egoshooters can be finished in 2 evenings? Good that you can rent these games, because there's no way this is worth 50 bucks.

ps. and I second Slater. Far Cry sucked too.
