2006 NBA Offseason - Page 3

I wanna know the story with this Allen Iverson deal. Could Boston and whatever third team really put together a package satisfying enough for him? Philly isn't much of a team without him.
last i checked they werent much of a team with him. time to make some moves.

Hilarious stuff Cynic. For sure Philly should make some moves.

As for the Bulls deal no i'm not sold on them being a title threat yet. Ben Wallace (Rasheed is the bigger idiot by far btw) is a huge pickup huge (to quote Paso). He is not what will bring them to the promised land though. I remember those losses to the Heat and Heinrich and Gordon going 9 for 24 or 8 for 30 will not get it done with anyone in the middle.

Its gonna take more to be a force. As for Detroit Nazr was a solid pickup but he's no Big Ben. In my opinion it was Sheed who was always the liability and the up and down player. This is certainly the Flip era in motown now.

Going back to the Iverson to Boston deal whats up with that? I can see Iverson and Pierce shooting the lights out and all the other Celts quitting now.

The guys i'm looking at in free agency who can be some key contributors still are Drew Gooden, Chris Wilcox and Al Harrington.

There's no question Rasheed has been the bigger tool of the two over the course of their career's but Big Ben was the main reason the "every player vs. Flipper" controversy started. I'm glad someone else is on the same page as me towards the Bulls though!

The free agency list is pretty bog this year. Wells and Harrington are probably the best of the bunch left.

Daniels for Croshere sounds like a win win situation to me.

Not that I am picking on you, but didn't everyone hand tbhe NBA title to the Lakers when they signed Malone and Payton. I think someone called them the best starting line-up ever even.

Yes, the Bulls look better on paper - but let's see them play a few games first.

I just think the Bulls will make a good run. They have an extremely talented, good, young team, and they got better this offseason.

And I think the Heat are going to tank this year. A roster with that many malcontents and diminishing players couldn't possibly do it again.

Nobody thought they'd do it once. You're way overreacting with "that many malcontents".

I want to see Iverson on another team so badly. So when he completely fucks them up I can be amused.

Okay, I have the Collective Bargaining Agreement messed up here.

LeBron James just got a three year extension at $60 million. That averages out to $20 million a year. But I was told that the max amount a player could make is $14 million, provided they've been in the league for ten years. There's the matter of increases, but LeBron is coming off his rookie contract- a 200% increase would place him from $4 million a year to $12 million, and I don't think you're allowed bigger than that. The Larry bird exception also matters as far as teams going over the salary cap, but am I missing something, or is his new contract impossible?

I'm pretty sure the people that are reporting it are not letting us know the exact details of the deal, which isn't surprising in the least. Lebron, Wade and Bosh signed the same deal. When I read about Wade's it said a 3 year deal worth around $44 mil (they wouldn't know the exact value until a later date) but with Lebron the headline reads "3 year, $60 mil". It's like they're trying to make him out to be a superhero. The actual contract is a guaranteed 3 year deal with a player option for a 4th year. I think with the option year added in the total value of the deal is worth approximately $60 mil.

Ding, Ding, Ding!

We have a winner.

Checking out the transaction wire-

-Iverson: NOT TRADED. Why did Billy King change his mind? I'm thinking he just couldn't get a good offer for Iverson, dooming that marriage to future mediocrity. I didn't really watch Philly this season- why couldn't Iverson and Webber form a successful nucleus for a good team? I see they both got their numbers and then some. Is it the lack of solid role players? The likes of Iguodala and John Salmons getting it done? Or is it the pure domination of the ball Iverson and Webber have all night? I haven't really seen a lot of Webber since his final injury-filled seasons of Sacramento, but has he gotten slower, leading to his post forays taking forever?

-Nets trade for Mikki Moore. It's still dire in the paint for New Jersey, as they've even contemplated reuniting the Collins brothers. Dunno why they even bothered to bring back Cliff Robinson, as it's clear that the core of the team needs some tinkering. I hear good things in the summer leagues about Marcus Williams but losing Josh Boone isn't something they had planned for. Color me stunned that Mikki Moore is even in the league- great sign that Seattle, of all teams, was willing to give him up for a draft pick.

-Pistons sign Ronald Murray. Can't see how he fits into Detroit's system, though more bench scoring is good for them. Still can't fathom how they'll make do without Ben Wallace.

-The Clippers lose Vladimir Radmanovic to the Lakers, but make up for it by bringing in Tim Thomas and deflating Phoenix's roster a bit. Radmanovic seemed to really be carving out a niche with the Clippers after bumming around in Seattle for too long, so it will be interesting to see how he meshes in Los Angeles as the first guy off the bench. In the triangle offense, a tall shooter can be lethal. As for Thomas, I fear for the guy getting the second big payday of his career- what has he done? Maybe the Clippers can get something out of him, but shoot, I doubt it.

-And leave it to the Knicks to make the dumbest move of the offseason. Jared Jefferies for $30 million? I have to again ask, who are the Knicks bidding against? I have this crazy image of Isiah Thomas screaming numbers out loud in an imaginary auction attended by only himself, in whic he keeps outbidding no one for shitty players. You know who the Knicks should sign? Michael Olowokandi. For $4 million a year. Because it's something that the Knicks would do.

I think Vlad should start at forward with Odom.

Jared Jeffries? Isiah is beyond insane.

AI better be traded at some point or I will really be dissapointed.

I actually think Mikki Moore has some value, he's got to be a cheap pickup and he's a good shotblocker nad can throw down some nasty dunks.

Bulls @ Heat on opening night. The season will start off strong for the NBA champions!

Cavaliers start with a round one rematch against the Wizards. Bring it!

If the NBA were smart they would've matched the Heat and Cavs on Christmas Day. Instead we have to watch the boring rematch of the Heat/Lakers.

Nice to see Dale Davis making headlines.

Also, hooray for the Knicks getting Jared Jeffries. The Wiz has been stingy with their money lately- they compensated by getting DeShawn Steveson on the cheap, a guy I've never liked.

I've got news for you, Jeffries sucks and as always they overpayed. Good move for the Wiz bad move for the Knicks.

I would love to see video of Dale Davis getting tasered, they should put that on Cops.
