Now that's what I'm talking about. There used to be plenty of these tongue in cheek drive-in homages in the 80's. I'm not saying I miss them all, but it's nice to see a new one every once in awhile.

This does sound like a lot of fun. I have yet to see Lost Skeleton of Cadavra, but it is on my Netflix queue.

Thank the Lord for Larry Blamire, that's all I'll say.

Set that to the top, man! So many funny lines in that movie.

Plus, the rock dance.

If Skeleton of Cadevera is 50's Sci-Fi, and this one is 60's comics and monster movies, is this going to be a series running the course of several decades, or is it just coincidence?

I gotta get my ass Skeleton RIGHT NOW.

Forehead sounds like one hell of a good time. I'm gonna have to do a bit of searching for Skeleton though, as I'm sure the video store I frequent won't have it. Yeah I know, I should have a Netflix account by now, but history has shown that I just can't be trusted with a credit card.

"We'd better leave it there, in case it has germs or something" That's a beautiful line.

What I loved about Lost Skeleton was that it was a parody, not an out-and-out spoof. It was funny because they stayed true to what a silly 50s b-movie looked and sounded like - they resisted the urge to overplay it and make fun of the source material explicitly.

"Betty, you know what this meteor could mean to science. It could mean actual advances in the field of science."

That's probably why I've always detested MST3K. I know these movies are silly. That's why I love them. I don't need a bunch of costumed wise-asses talking over them to make it entertaining.

They're puppets, man.

Dan's bitter because he auditioned for Joel's seat. I told him skat jokes had no place on MST3K, but would he listen?

hello everyone. i just learned about the followup to lost skeleton of cadavra and i'm psyched. hopefully it will be just as good. trying to find out more is what brought me here.

what's wrong with MST3K? sometimes it is downright hysterical. if you don't like that, then you probably wouldn't like what's up hideous sun demon? (aka revenge of the hideous sun demon) either as that film replaces all of the original dialogue with what sounds like jay leno narrating. it's REALLY a fun gilm. anyone who doesn't hate MST3K should check that out. i got my copy in a 2 pack with the original film for just $7. i imagine most people who liked lost skeleton and MST3K would like that.

then there's always attack of the killer tomatos, dark star, killer klowns from outer space, mars attacks!, galaxy quest & a boy and his dog for more sci-fi & b-movie parody fun. i imagine most here have heard of those better known titles, but a really fun short film you might want to check out is brainwarp. i picked a copy up for something like $5 at a b-movie festival out of curiosity and couldn't stop laughing.

it's a really low budget take on the super hero genre, only the lead character is a villian. he's "the world's stupidest super villian". the film goes along at a frantic pace and doesn't bother to try and make sense, but it's a hoot and a half in my book. if you get the chance, try to watch it. it uses dialogue and bad SFX in a similar vein to lost skeleton but it's much more over the top and wacky. it's kind of like mystery men on speed.

Clearly I need to read the Creature Corner more often, as I had completely forgotten about this movie and assumed it was never really going to happen.
If I lived in Washington State I would TOTALLY be going to that free screening on the fifth.

After watching the clip, I can only think that it's too bad they went to colour, because it looks like it was just shot for cheap on video. One can only hope that they're planning on doing some sort of grain/desaturate pass to make it look like it was shot for cheap on film instead.

What I loved most about Lost Skeleton of Cadavra is that it's not even really a parody (which entails a level of overt "we're making fun of the subject" jokes) so much as a pitch perfect homage to 50's b-movie horror schlockfests. One could imagine that you could take a print and send it back in time and no one would be the wiser as to when it came from

I'm excited that they linked to my article on their official site. I really can't wait to check out this film.

takatomon- I'm definitely going to hunt that one down- thanks for the tip! Always down to see more b-movies.

Dick Miller. Awesome. Someone's gotta use him since Dante's been on director vacation.

LSoC rules, the Chiodo Bros. kick ass ,and this has me quite giddy as well:

Ray Harryhausen Presents is the latest venture between the legendary visual effects artist and longtime colleague and producer, Arnold Kunert. Their goal is to bring Ray Harryhausen's numerous unrealized projects from the 1940s and 1950s to the screen and offer support and encouragement to the many writers, directors and visual effects artists whose careers were greatly influenced by the pioneering work of Ray Harryhausen.

Ray’s reputation and wide-ranging influence in the film industry stem from his unique and groundbreaking use of stop-motion animation in such landmark films as The 7th Voyage of Sinbad, Jason and the Argonauts and Clash of the Titans.

The visual effects in all Ray Harryhausen Presents projects will be produced primarily in stop-motion animation. Computer-Generated Imagery (CGI) may also be utilized when stop-motion animation proves impractical, and Ray certainly considers CGI as one of many useful tools in the arsenal of special effects production.

Ray Harryhausen Presents intends to spotlight short and feature films which bring fantasy and adventure back to audiences of all ages: traditional, exciting, fun, with a sense of wonder and an anything-can-happen sense of magic.

I did a little writeup on one of those stop motion films last year for the Pit and the Pendulum. Definitely looks cool. I'm glad to see that the man is still getting out there and supporting people who're continuing his favorite craft.

Writer-director Larry Blamire's email to the LSOC Yahoo Group on 7/10/09
"I recently spoke to IFC and have some update on SCREAMING FOREHEAD. With DVD sales down, IFC has had to cut back and will not be releasing all of its current feature acquisitions on DVD. The GOOD news is TRAIL OF THE SCREAMING FOREHEAD will indeed be among those released. IFC will now be having MPI handle their DVD releasing. The slightly sorta kinda bad news is it's looking like TotSF will not likely be out this year, but some time early 2010."

Late already, as the year’s more than half over. Apparently was available on IFC On Demand till last March. Official Site no longer active.
