TRANSFORMERS Tease You

Well, it's a teaser alright. But there's like a 2.3 seconds money shot in there. The rest is pure filling. Somehow those Decepticon police car pictures were more teasing than this.
Yeah i'm curious what they will show at the Con.
I love how the flash site doesn't even fit into a 1024x768 browser window. Shouldn't have to scroll down....
"It seems like this teaser went live early in response to Aint It Cool’s (now gone) picture of a Transformer."

Devin: somehow... yeah. But I'm afraid it's all there'll be.
I kind of liked it. I thought the "It was our only warning" bit was kinda cool, but the thing that bothers me is that they're trying to sell this, like Devin said, as a War of the Worlds, which was dark and violent and menacing.

The only problem is the name "Transformers" doesn't automatically sell any sort of dread whatsoever. It's a nitpick, but it does sort of bug me

Link dead?
Interesting they are spinning the failed Mars rover like they are here. Creative...
Oh... and I love the huge "A MICHAEL BAY FILM" text under the logo.
I'm waiting for the uproar that will surely ensue because Michael Bay has got the Transformer noise wrong.
I suppose if you're going to make a film based on a line of toys, that would be the way to do it. Somehow, its fitting for Michael Bay to be making this.
I was half expecting to see the Mars face revealed to be a Transformer head.

Indeed.

I agree completely. I just think this is sort of a perfect movie for Bay to make, I may be one the few people at these boards who think that Bay is one of the best action choreographers/directors working today, his skill at directing a whole movie may always be in question, but he makes entertaining films for me.

Dude, that's a great idea!
It's here in DivX (though the legality's probably questionable).
I hate to nitpick, but coming from Bay this is rather disappointing.

*Why Mars? Do Transformers migrate?

*Does Mars have that much sunlight and cloudy blue skies?

*Why does the shadowy Transformer destroy the probe? Surely they would analyze it.

*Why are they setting up a lighthearted sci-fi action franchise like it's War of the Worlds or Aliens?

That's enough geekiness for now.
I've enjoyed almost all of Michael Bay's movies, save for Pearl Harbor and The Island (yes, I like Armageddon), so hopefully I'll end up enjoying this.

Pretty neat teaser. I thought the quick menacing shot of the transformer destroying the probe. My knowledge of the transformers roster has long since disappeared, so can anyone possible identify which one was in the teaser?

And the titles transforming into the date and logo? Sweet....
I thought the title transforming into the date took a little too long, but that's just me nitpicking.
Yup, another Bay film I'll have to not see. Dear lord the man's movies suck. And I used to like Transformers back in the day.
Yeah, this proves I don't know dick about Transformers. So the Transformers are the enemy? I thought they were the heros.

Well I'm off to turn my geek card back in.

That's not what they are implying, but I can see that coming across.

"the only warning we would get" definitely implies that they are an enemy, to me anyway.

That could have been a Decepticon. They're the bad guys. The autobots are the good guys. They're ALL Transformers.

Well... even the good guys are going to cause quite a lot of damage, even though their intentions show otherwise....
Ah.
Thats why the tagline in the site is "Our planet, their war"....looking forward to it, especially if it plays on how devastating a giant robot war would be on the human race...
I hate Michael Bay's movies, but I'll give him credit...NOBODY is as good as he is at filming mass destruction. We can expect 2 hours of constant metal shreddage, that's for sure. No plot, but lots of battle action and quick cut ritalin-needing edits that'll put us into seizures.
Giant transforming robots destroying cities, directed by Michael Bay.

I'm there with bells on.

BTW, none of this teaser footage is going to be in the film itself.

Quicktime video

That's what I was wondering.

Good to know.
Looked okay.
That Teaser trailer was terrible. At least give us something, like Raimi did.

Raimi has been filming since January. Bay just started 4 weeks ago.
Nelson, why are you so quick to leap to Transformers' defense? Is Perceptor an iMac in this one?

Before he was assimilated by Macs, Nelson ran a Michael Bay fansite.

Call me crazy, but I really think Michael Bay's been getting better and better as a filmmaker over the years. I thought The Island was actually a pretty good film, while still having the expected fast cuts and carnage. I actually hope Bay doesn't revert to the older headache-inducing manic style he had going on when he started. But saddled with a movie about giant warring robots, how could he not?
Neat teaser.

I'm not sure Bay can do "lighthearted sci-fi action franchise."

He can certainly do it, but the teaser seems to indicate an oddly serious approach.
I was under the impression this was going to be geared towards kids more. Didn't Bay join some sort of anti-violence organization in Hollywood and swear to stop making his movies so violent? Granted, that doesn't explain the Platinum Dunes output or "Bad Boys II" (which apparently he was unhappy over being contractually obligated to make, allowing him to utterly abuse his right to final cut).

Sorry about that.

Can a mod please edit that out? We've already received a pre-emptive request to not post that from the studio.
Is Murph coming back to call us all idiots and fight with Devin anytime soon?

I enjoyed all that stuff from before.
Absolutely underwhelming. Transformers should be fun. The teaser goes for a faux ID4 feel and it just doesn't click.
Its Transformers! Who cares if it rips off ID4? Like that movie's so original. Is anybody that wedded to the toy property that they care one way or the other how they interpret the basic concept for a film 20 years later? All I need to see is giant transforming robots beating the crap out of each other.
Also, I guess this is becoming a new thing, to call the first teaser an "announcement" trailer. After this is the "teaser" and then the "trailer", I suppose.
Watching that teaser, I know how Roy Neery felt at the end of CEOT3K.

It's happening,. It's REALLY happening.
