TRANSFORMERS Tease You - Page 2

I know nothing about Transformers except they're an old line of toys of mediocre quality. I'm having a hard time taking this seriously. Neat effects, though. Maybe they'll do funky things like have the Eiffel Tower and the CN Tower and the Golden Gate Bridge turn into robots and have at it.

I think Tom Hanks's character in Big already proved that buildings that turn into robots aren't fun at all.

It's not that odd.

In the 80s, while silly to adults, the cartoon was actually "serious" to us kids.

Us kids have grown into adults, so it makes sense to keep that "serious" tone intact. Kind of ingenous actually. Or maybe Bay doesn't know how to do it any other way. Either way it's cool.

Serious perhaps, but never as ominous as in this teaser. Plus there was always a lot of joking around. Also the kids of today are probably going to be as large a part of the film's audience as us geezers.

So which fast food franchise has got the tie-in rights to this film, that's the only reason it's getting made, I assume.

Only slightly more enticing than the T3 "announcement" trailer.

That's my point. Kids are going to see it regardless, but if it was sold as a silly children's romp, adults would be less inclined to tag along IMO.

I don't see a problem with taking it more "seriously". Like it was said before, everyone who used to watch this is an adult now. I'm glad they're not afraid to make a Transformers movie geared towards adults. Even the cartoon movie had it's dark moments ie: characters being blown apart and worlds literally being eaten by a giant planet Transformer. There was even some cursing. That's the stuff I want to see. Who says you can't have a darker movie with humor in it?

I just can't stand the choppy "shake the camera and have the actors roll side to side" thing that apparently passes for action filming from Bay.

Looking at this rather loaded and strange cast (Shia LaBeouf?), I can already see that all the fans are gonna piss and moan about the movie viewing things from the human's perspective too much and it not being a 2-hour robot orgy.

That was always the biggest problem with the cartoon---Spike and that stupid little kid of his in the movie. Even when I was ten years old I just wanted that little brat to get accidently stepped on by Grimlock.

There is no fucking way you can make a movie about a bunch of robots who turn into cars a "dark, serious movie" and you will just look dumb if you try. It's called the basic concept kind of rules that out...except for the hardcore fanboys and there ain't that many of them around for "Transformers".
If you are going to do it, accept the basic silliness of the idea, have fun with it, and make it a not take itself too seriously romp.
TO make his work needs a light touch, and Michael Bay is not the the guy for that.
I read it has a 150 Million buck budget. That is way too much for what is going to be a kid's movie with a franchise which most kids today, frankly, don't care too much about. and I don't think the nostaligia quotent for the adults is that high. This might have been a good bet at 50 to 60 Million bucks but not 150...and giving Bay's past it will probably end up costing more.

Yeah, that Decepticon should have stepped in some shit instead of a probe.

It should be noted that while this announcment was directed by Bay, it will not appear in the actual film. I wouldn't take this as a taste of things to come. T3 didn't seem to take itself too seriously, and yet we never got that indication from its announcement.

And besides, Bernie fucking Mac is in it. In all likelihood Bay is shooting a scene right now where Bernie Mac goes go-kart racing with Jazz.

Perhaps if T3 did take itself seriously it would have been a better film. I think trying to make Transformers as a serious movie is a pretty interesting idea. Don't know if they can do it, but it's an interesting idea.

Well, sorry, I think you can make a good Transformers movie. You seem to want the movie to suck. I'll agree it shouldn't be a totally dark, serious movie but I don't think it necessarily has to be lame sunshine-happy-popcorn movie material either.
