Psych - Page 2

yeah, that was a bit better. I just don't like the way he basically falls over and does the same exact schtick every time.

I think the writing is decent, and its a good comedy. But overall its a perfect example of something I think suffers from its premise, as opposed to being helped by it.

Tonight on NBC is the second episode, featuring my favorite line/bit so far in the series... BANANA

Saturday they showed every episode of Psych and this show is just plain funny.

I hate that the season finale in this friday... but it looks even more hilarious.

It takes place at a Sci-Fi Convention and guest stars Takai.

What are they splitting the season up into 2 like Monk?

I think they know Network TV series are starting their new seasons.. so they would rather not compete.

which is odd comparing Psych was so much better than anything on Network TV this summer.

Heads up that Psych is back on USA Friday night at 10 pm.. New Episodes!

those who have been watching NBC know that.. they've been sneaking in Psych episodes this past week into their line-up.

I can't say enough about this show. It is fucking good. I was watching a few of the episodes during the marathon they had this weekend, and I almost forgot how hilarious a jerk James Rhoday can be.

This is definitely a must watch show. The only thing wrong with it is the terrible theme music.
Can't wait for both this...AND Monk....
Expected nothing. Received much. This show is quite funny.

Agreed and agreed. The theme music is just about the worst I've ever heard. You know when a character on tv is watching a fake tv show? That is the fake music for that fake tv show. And the worst part is that it's so fucking catchy I sing it in my head for like an hour afterward. In fact, I'm singing it right now. Thanks, Fazer.

As I was watching the most recent episode, I had an epiphany about what this show reminds me of...and I know the exact moment it hit me.

When Gus was on his date and they walk to the pier, the moment when shawn got up off the bench where he was posing as a bum was the moment it hit me that "Psych" is probably the closest thing to a weekly "fletch" tv series ever. The more and more I thought about it, the more it became obvious that the creators, writers, and even James Rhoday himself must have been heavily influenced by either the books or movies.
Is it just me or did Rhoday kick his heels all the way up to his ass every time he ran away from the camera? Has he done this in the past and I've failed to notice or is this a new thing? Because it kind of made me fall in love with him a teeny tiny bit.

I'm an episode behind..but the first episode back was quite funny. Anytime a show makes my wife laugh really hard, it makes me happy.

I loved the click click tock tock conversation.
I just have to give this show a little praise. It's definitely a must watch for me. I do have to second the criticism horrible music in the show though. Even with that though, the show is great.

Every episode since coming back has been great. My girlfriend loves this show so she makes me tivo like 4 episodes at a time until she's in town or bring them with me on DVD when I go visit her.
Great show that is quickly surpassing Monk in terms of laughs and character development. Certainly hope it sticks around for awhile.

While on imdb, I found out that one of the writers on the show, Andy Berman, used to be the voice of Dib on Invader Zim. I believe he pops up at the end of the speed dating episode.

Last night's mini marathon on Sci-Fi was the most exciting thing on TV.
No more new episodes until July.

Last night's episode was co-written by James Roday and I thought it was pretty good. Not the best of the series, but entertaining. Also surprised to see John Landis listed as the director.

Roday has the likeable, smart ass role down at this point. I'll just say it: If Ryan Reynolds doesn't end up playing The Flash on the big screen, I can easily picture Roday as Wally West.

Gus getting trapped in the Asylum was hilarious.

I was surprised to see landis as well.

I thought the story in the episode was pretty good. The red-herring / fake urban legend, and the fact that they accidentally started it, was great. Also good was the dule / kid from cosby show bit...

... which was actually what I was hoping roday was gonna say in the ghost voice at the end, when gus was trapped in the house-- "hey aren't you the kid from cosby shoOOOoow?"-- would have been much funnier to me than, "work the laces" or whatever he said.

All in all, good first season (even though they bill it as two), and I am excited to see what they come up with for season "three".
And for anybody craving a James Rhoday fix, apparently he co-wrote the upcoming "Skinwalkers".

Yeah. Weird.

Psych Marathon today ALL DAY until the new premiere tonight at 10 pm.

The American Idol send up looks to be extremely funny.
All day? That means my TiVo is going to be capturing and releasing all day. It's only set up to hold five eps of one show. The stupid fucker.
Tivo's don't have the option to record only "first run" episodes of shows?
Yeah, they do. Plus, you can up the number of episodes it saves for a particular show. However, I just started watching this show, so I just clickity-clacked the Season Pass option for it and kept the default settings. So, that motherfucker is going to be whrrrrring away all day. Saving and deleting, saving and deleting. That poor recording robot. I will hug it when I arrive home. Which is what I normally do. But extra long today.
Pretty good for the Opener. The entire scene at Shawn's dads house was top notch.

Gina Gershon deserves an emmy nod.
She was absolutely hilarious last night. Especially calling Lassiter, "Mr. Bean"
I liked the stuff with the main characters, but I was finding the guest appearances a little hard to swallow.
was i the only one who thought this was one of the worst episodes? Probably the show's worst ever.

It was like they tried to shoehorn a plot into a show based around the "psych out" sessions they show during the credits.

Is Tim Curry the USA network's official go to british guy?

I thought Gina Gershon should be ashamed of herself for doing that role. All around bad episode. Even the fake psychic stuff felt very very tacked on.

I really hope they pick up their game next week. This has been one of my fave shows since it debuted.
That was hilarious, start to finish. I was dying when Gus kept slapping Sean.
I'm more with Fazer on this episode. It felt very flat, other than the stage performance at the end.
All of you can say what you will about the episode, but Lassie was gold baby.
Gold!
I just viewed this as a whole episode of 'Psych out' moments just to thank the fans for giving them a second season.

Also, it feels to me that there was a shitload cut out of this.

Well last night's Jurassic Park episode was probably one of the best episodes in the series..

I loved how Gus and Shawn are in the field and the wide shots of them have them running just like in Jurrassic Park. And then it cuts to them driving in reverse down the path just like they are being chased by the T-rex, even though they are actually dodging shotgun blasts. It was a great homage.

If I wanted to introduce someone to this show, this would be the episode I would show them.

"6 degrees of kissing my ass!" is classic.
And there were a couple of nice tips of the hat to Jaws and Holes as well.

I liked that made an effort in the episode to show that Shawn and Gus aren't the only ones able to solve difficult crimes, as demonstrated by Lassiter's eight (or nine) closed cases in a row. When the series started, I thought the creators of the show were going to make him like Frank Burns on MASH. But, as the series has progressed, they are trying to make Lassie a little more complex then that. Roday and Hill get a lot of press for this show, but I think that Timothy Omundson is Psych's secret weapon.
Great episode. 100 times better than the premiere. I loved all of the stuff Gus got to do in this episode, particularly the opening of the digital lock. What the hell were those noises?
great stuff, even though the premises are becoming shakier and shakier. the episodes are held together by all the great actors in the show.

I mean some nonsensical stuff like Gus' picking of the lock (while hilarious) made absolutely no sense.

they need to find a happier medium before they fall into the trap of making the show way too improvisational and slapstick.

"He predicted that the man was killed by a dinosaur. And he was right! An actual dinosaur. I can't top that. I'm never going to think that the murderer is a leprechaun or a unicorn."

Best, or second best, episode of the show I've seen thus far (the other candidate being the one takign place in a space center).

Well this show seems to play for the nod and the wink. And while the season opener might have taken it to the extreme, I think last week's episode is Psych at its best. A light hearted romp through a police mystery (usually a murder).

I would like to compare it to Murder She Wrote with Roday and Hill as a group effort of Angela Landsbury and Lassiter somewhat representing Tom Bosley's character.

I could have gone without seeing Lou Diamond Phillips' chest, but at least we see Shawn score with a lady.

Best part of the show was Mildred calling shotgun.

The same could be said of the Home Depot product placement at the beginning of the episode. Although, it did allow for Shawn to goof around with that forklift. So, it all balances out in the end.
Im not really sure how I feel about the second season's direction. It seems like now they've gone totally for the comedic side. It feels like solving the mystery has become secondary to being wacky. Plus I feel like him and his dad got to close to quick. I think they should still be dealing with their issues but I will say that the last episode felt like a return to the old Psych.
I liked this episode, even though I saw the ending from a mile away. Liked Phillips character a lot more than I thought I would.
excellent episode.

but I think the one exchange had me doubled over.

"gus where was that hotel where you went to meet the Pips"

"you met gladys knight!?"

"no, just the Pips"

"Actually, it was just one pip, the other two got stuck in traffic"

For me its the little things that crack me up.

Like Shawn picking out the candy for himself and Gus at the hotel lobby, while other castmembers are talking, that makes this show great.
It was an alright episode...i've been underwhelmed by both this and Monk so far this season.

Fun episode although saw the ending coming from amile away. Gave up on Monk seasons ago.

I didnt catch the entire show Friday night.. but watched from after the 15 minute mark.

I would say this episode wasnt as up to par as the others this year, but there is usually one laugh out loud joke per week, and this was definately "Little Shawn".
