OK. People in the main league. When do we want to draft?

I vote for a Monday or Tuesday night towards the end of August.
a Monday night would be fine. I usually work Tuesday nights
post #53 of 145
I don't know which league I will end up in, but I can safely say that nighttime (7-10 pacific time) EARLY in the week (Monday or Tuesday) is a great time to do fantasy drafts.

Things come up later in the week that can keep people from coming to the live draft.

As far as actual date, I agree with SD as far as late august. You want to do it as close to the season kickoff so no one gets screwed with training camp/preseason injuries AFTER a draft has occured.
I'm in.

Sending PM now with info.

Either is fine, but I prefer Mondays.

Once again, same rules. If you don't accept your team by August 1, invites will be sent to the people on the waiting list to take your spot.
Spot accepted. Wehman's Warriors (lame name alert) will be fighting for number one! Ughh - I am a dork!

I am not sure who is running the draft the in the B league, but 6pm to 12:00am or so EST work best for me. I can probably do a daytime draft at work, but I would probably be pissed if my boss walked in as I was waiting for round two pick and I had to go to autodraft mode. The price you pay I suppose.
Yeah, evenings work best for me as well.
I'm insanely busy these days and will probably have to auto draft. So I'm not making any requests. In the event I'm available, I'll be there. Otherwise I'll have to trust Yahoo.
I don't care which day it ends up, as long as it's as late as possible. Starting it between 9-11pm EST would be great.

If its Monday or Tuesday, please start after 10 P.M. EST, or later preferably. Wednesdays are bad. A Thursday would be nice.

I may have to be like Jankis and set up an extensive auto draft selection.

The auto-draft on Yahoo is pretty good. It won't just take your next pick, regardless of position. It fills your starting positions, then moves on to filling your bench positions efficiently. Someone last year had an auto-draft and it did pretty well--SD, was that you that auto-drafted last year?
I think he was gone for the first round or two, and was upset that Peyton Manning was autodrafted, since he prefers to start drafting RBs right off the bat.

It's a bit of a pain to customize the autodraft list to a particular philosophy, but at least the rankings themselves are well put together.

I autodrafted once and got a great draft. Last year, it was me that got Peyton instead of a running back since I was a little late.
Monday sounds great to me.
The A-League Draft is Monday, August 28 at 10:00 CDT
post #67 of 145
I am cool with that draft time.
sooo...am i in the A-league?
We'll know by Sunday morning...
Monday at 8:00 (for me). Perfect!

It's going to be a looong wait 'til draft day. I get so excited about the upcoming season, and everyone has such high aspirations for what the teams will do this year, and then the pre-season starts, and the injuries begin.
I'm signed up for the 'other' league.
Congrats Fazer. You are in the main league by default.
Woot! I'm in the B-League! The Orlando Calrissians are on the clock!

Speaking of, is this draft a random or live draft?
live draft. I stil have to set the time and date for it.
Got my invite and signed up. Excellent.

I would like to thank slowpulse for not showing, and giving me a second chance to prove my worth in the A league. I think its fate.

Question: Does anyone see a true number 1 pick this year? I just see a ton of giant question marks: Larry Johnson has not played a full season ever and is now working under a new coach (although that coach had a pretty good fantasy RB back in the meadowlands), LT has basically a rookie qb at the helm (but he has had success in that situation before), and finally as silly as it may sound shaun alexander is on the cover of Madden.
I look at it as a 1a, 1b, 1c situation. Any of those three could easily be justified as a number one pick, and barring injuries or what-have-you, should all have monster seasons. Its once you get past them that there are large amounts of question marks.
agreed.

It is actually kind of scary the lack of any true standout 2nd tier runners. I never feel safe drafting Tiki, and who knows what to expect from Edge in arizona. You got the cadillac in tampa who is looking good, but I am not totally sold on brown in miami. Its going to be interesting to say the least.

I can't wait man.

If you pick before me, you should just play it safe and take Adam Viniteri first.
To me Larry Johnson is the clear number 1 if he is the starter and isn't sharing major time with Holmes, assuming his head isn't still woozy. Alexander goes to 1 if there is some splittin.

I drafted LJ in my money league in the 5th round and rode him to the championship. I lost Darrell Jackson and was desperate for a WR and was dangling LJ early with no takers. The guy who had Priest had 4 solid WR but wouldn't trade till after bye weeks. I plan on giving him a hard time at the draft.
The Main League is filled and here is the draft order. Based on an idea by Martianman last year, I used a Dice Simulator online to determine the order of the draft. I rolled two 100 sided die, the first number being your actual roll and the second as a tie-breaker. The lowest number is the number one pick and the largest number is pick number 12. Remember, each round the order reverses, so pick 12 is pick 1 in the second round.

The Draft Order

1. The GioMetric Angles 8 (54)
2. JD's LA Stallions 10 (44)
3. Dylan's Villains 16 (78)
4. Alpharetta Steelers 20 (70)
5. Fazer's Defaults 50 (43)
6. Unrealistic Mofos 59 (48)
7. sweatersbydarwin 77 (45)
8. Starving Dogs 79 (61)
9. Wease 83 (35)
10. Burke 85 (37)
11. Team Zissou 98 (19)
12. Sammy's Song 98 (100)

I hate my pick .....

Here is who has accepted the "Other League" invitations:

SuxorCorpses (Jay F)
Jeff's Jokers (Jeff Lyczak)
Orlando Calrissians (Richard Dickson)
Wehman's Warriors (Brian Wehman)
Lohan's Coke Dealer (Anyawatchin Angel)
Speed Freaks (Jim Barg)
heLL paso
Kung Fu Monkeys
Sooner Redd (Starving Dogs)

Carl Cunningham, Jason P. Thompson and Uth Vaspetad have been sent either PMs (if I don't know their e-mail) or invites (if I have their e-mail) to join. Flyarz, Overlord and Slowpulse have also been sent invites. That is six people with three spots left. First come first serve.

Cool. #4 isn't bad. I agree SD, if I can't be in the Top 3 or 4, I'd rather be at the bottom. I'm #12 in another league, which I'm psyched about. I think I was #12 last year in the CHUD league and I made it to the finals. Rock on!
Damn. That spot's going to make my first two decisions hard as hell. Oh well, that's where the fun comes from, right?
On two 100 sided die, I rolled a 98 and a 100. I wish I could say those results surprised me.

Drafting last ain't so bad though.
yowza, if there is any year I would like to avoid being in the middle of the draft its this year.

Sigh...looks like i may be taking caddillac or ronnie brown and hope there is no sophmore slump. I really don't see myself drafting tiki barber though. He burned me a couple times before his "curtis martin-esque" resurgence.
Larry Johnson? Shaun Alexander? Larry Johnson? Shaun Alexander?

Decisions, decisions.....

Take Chris Chambers with the first pick. He's gonna be HUGE...

Or Adam Viniteri.

hey starv (and everybody else). i've signed up for the B league. i'm sorry i didn't get in touch earlier, but things have been insane here at work the past few months and i haven't roamed the forums as much as i used to. this is actually the first time i've been in here since may, i think.

well, for me it's going to be auto-draft this year again. i'm still the only one who lives in europe, aren't i? so i'll have to prioritize things like sleeping while you fine gentlemen will be having fun drafting.

auto-draft is not all bad, though, except that it fucks up your bench, cause it doesn't start picking reserve spots until you've filled all the other positions. but it'll be alright: the spine-chillin slowpulse snugglies are about to bring a world of terror on the B league, mark my words!

I was gonna wait till we filled up but if we only have one spot left, I would suggest to those already in that we do it on Tuesday night, August 29.

Any problems with this date?

We are down to one spot left in the "Other League."

It is between Carl Cunningham, Uth Vaspetad, Flyarz and Overlord. If one of them does not sign in by Saturday night, I will send out invites to the newbies that have expressed intrest.

For the first time in a long time, there will be quite a few Dolphins selected in the first couple of rounds. Not quite 1.1 material, though.

I just realized that I skipped over Tomlinson in my deliberations, but he killed me in my money league Super Bowl last year, which I ended up losing by two points. That LT/Larry Johnson starting combo should have guaranteed me the title.

LJ? Alexander? LJ? Alexander?
Other than Chambers and Brown who else are you thinking of?

And the B league is filled. Looks like I get the Orlando Calrissians first. I usually get Starving Dogs first but I think he's in another league now.
Ooh, I get the commish in week 1. Good times.

The 29th is fine, unless wonky shit happens at work.
slowpulse, welcome back. Sorry about taking your spot man.

as far as the draft, shit is already going down in training camp. I love it!

Bush is holding out. Thomas Jones is injured. Chris brown wants a trade. Jerry Porter wants a trade. ITs going to be an interesting preseason.

As for your question - Daunte Cullpepper and Randy McMichael
