"Incoming mail!"
I think I buzzed this notion around quite regularly back in heavier posting days - it's not my notion but Hooper's himself when he was interviewed for a special doc made for Halloween called Fear Of The Dark in October 1991 on UK's Channel 4.

I love this picture. I'm constantly bemused that savvy horror folk don't really "get" it yet they get Army Of Darkness or Society which are just as left field.

Holy shit, I just found a pristine VHS copy of this in a local second hand store for 1.79. Well, as pristine as VHS gets. Damned if it's not the original video release, from 86, straight from Media. And I'll be damned if haven't seen this version in years- the gore seems intact.

I know I can pick up the DVD pretty cheap, and I should, but can anyone who owns the DVD tell me if it is the uncut version? I've heard conflicting reports.

I was in my goddamn glory from 1985-1986, with things like TCM2, The Fly, Fright Night, Big Trouble in Little China, and Re-Animator all hitting around the same schoolyear. It was a good couple years to be a horror kid.

The DVD is not cut, though the film was shot open matte, and the DVD is letterboxed, so that's the most you're going to lose.

TCM2 is the only sequel of this franchise worth talking about.

We shouldn't even be using the word "franchise" in connection with TCM.

Amen.

Look what we have today. "Pulse", "The Grudge 2", "TCM: The Begining"....Pathetic.

Where has the talent gone?

Every other genre.

Holy crap, I love Michael Felsher's DVD documentaries. They're so fucking obsessive. A 7 part doc (with an annoying title layout, alas) on Chainsaw 2. I see on IMDB he is a producer on Romero's next film.
