Rescue Me Season 2

I just wrapped this up last night. I can't think of another show that mixes humor with drama so effectively, except maybe the late Six Feet Under. The final episode of the season reminded me a lot of the final few episodes of SFU, except instead of wanting to just slit my wrists, I wanted to laugh my ass off in the process.

I'm really sort of speechless about it... just wanted to note what a great show and what a great season it was. I can't wait until next year for season 3 to hit DVD - it's difficult not to watch or DVR the season now. I missed the first season so I ended up watching it on DVD and figure I'll just keep up with that routine, despite losing the whole water-cooler aspect and "real-time" discussion of each episode.

The second season is terrific - I just wish there were more special features on the DVDs. IIRC there aren't any commentaries whatsoever. Some brilliant work, though - that last episode has some of the best stuff ever filmed for TV.

Off the 3 seasons so far, I thought this was the weakest one, but it still is great TV nonetheless.

You thought the 2nd season was the weakest? I found it to be as good or better than the first, with some obvious flaws here and there - most of which the show easily makes up for.

Some of the guest acting was awful in season 2, especially Tatum O'neil. The final scene was kind of cheesy, for lack of a better word, also. I could pretty much picture being behind the scenes and flicking some fake blood on to Leary's face. Not the best editing in the world - something the show seems to suffer from, now and again.

Still, all in all, it's a great show and this was a fine season.

The DVD did lack special features. It's still a great way to watch TV. We finished the second season over the course of 2-3 days. It would have been faster but I didn't receive them from netflix all at once. Then again, there may be something to say for the slow-burn effect of watching serial TV as it was originally intended.

I also have watched it's season 2 episodes and that all are amazing to watch.
