I'm hoping this takes off. I got a cool bar in Astoria to do it in- the first night's going to be the 23rd. Yes, it's a sunday. We're going to start it off at 9.

Really excited about this. I'm going to hook it up for people coming- even thinking of giving away dvds and such. It'd be great to have a hangout for horror fans to come check out new(ish) movies for free.

Details coming soon- gotta talk to the guys about it tommorow and set it all up, but trust me- it's going to be awesome.

Projector. They've got a backyard garden that they set up with chairs and tables, and they string up a screen against the opposite building. Pretty nice setup.

Tonight! Come one come all... I've got a bunch of dvds I'm going to give away (ok, 4...) and looks like it's not gonna rain after all.

I plan on getting very drunk. Anyone who comes- look for the guy with the big goatee and the Freddy Krueger shirt... that'd be me... come say hello!

Had a great crowd- thanks to those who did come out. You missed out fabfunk- people were really getting into it.

It might happen again in 2 weeks- possibly with Evil Aliens. I'm really anxious to show that to other people. But I'll let you know.

2001 Maniacs looks to be the selection for next sunday.

This week they're showing The Goonies- which actually looks to be a fun time too- especially since they're having a drinking game where you drink whenever-

The chinese kid talks about gadgets
The fat kids talks about food
Sloth talks about Baby Ruth

Yep. Should be fun... I'll keep you updated.

So, they decided 2001 Maniacs was too much of a serious film (buh?), so instead of that- we've got another selection-

Evil Aliens.

Oh yes. I managed to get a copy of this film that hasn't even been released here yet- so Sunday will be the premiere, I guess.

It's hysterical and disgusting with plenty of homages to Dead Alive and Evil Dead, so you should not miss this one. Same time and place- hope to see an even bigger crowd this time. I will be giving away shitting horror films at the end of the screening once again.

Nope, free to all.

I should be there around 8 to get things started. I think I'm going to tape a flyer to the door so people know where to come in- there's no sign on the doors- don't let that deter you. Place is really nice inside.

I really hopes this takes off.

Do you only screen DVD's? Because there's a video store near my house that sells all sorts of awful old low-budget horror VHS's for 50 cents each, I could easily pick up a couple for you and send them out. They could work as giveaways or something.

Also, does the atmosphere encourage a kind of MST3K yelling at the screen (with the beer, I'd imagine so)? That sounds like fun.

I appreciate it, but I think i'm ok with movies. I've got so many dvds of my own, plus of course all the screeners of upcoming movies that I get. Besides, I don't even own a VCR anymore since my last one broke and don't know if I could get one to bring to the place. Thanks though, man.

The crowd does indeed encourage yelling at the screen- 42nd Street Forever was perfect for this kind of thing. Evil Aliens should be great as well- can't wait to see all the groans the first scene makes happen...

Thanks to everyone who came out- looks like those that did had a great time... despite the few technical problems and the douchebag blasting music next door for a bit. (that's never happened before, I swear!)

How long is this going for? I am volunteering for the NY Korean Film Fest the weekends of the 25-27 and 1-3 so I might not be able to make it until the 2nd weekend of September. But I would definitely show up!!!

No idea! Definitely till the end of the summer, but I'm assuming they do screenings in the winter, too... the only problem being that it's outside. But I'll definitely keep you guys updated.

Wasn't even mine! My friend wanted that one for his birthday- he was supposed to do it another night during the week but instead we got thrown together.

I was going to go with The Story of Ricky or Lost Skeleton of Cadavra... leave those for other nights.

But yeah, the running zombies line was a shot at him, heh. Oh well.

As an aside, I finally saw Lost Skeleton of Cadavra. What a fantastic little flick! I loved it, and I absolutely NEED to buy that one on DVD. Can't wait for Trail of the Screaming Forehead.

Oh, also, this summer I'm trying to see if I can set up a shorts night. I've got so many great horror shorts that I'd love to play for you guys (Eddie Loves You, It Came From the West) that I'm checking with the directors to see if they'd be cool with everything. Not like I'm making any money off this thing... I just like having a place we can watch some awesome movies. Evil Aliens was amazing last year.
