Maybe marriage as an institution is to blame. My two favorite long-standing, non-married couples are Tim Robbins/Susan Sarandon and Kurt Russell/Goldie Hawn. They proven that love can last despite not having a legally sanctioned piece of paper telling them so.

I would guess the next big one would be Arnold Schwarzenegger/Maria Shriver. They've been together for quite awhile. Almost 20 years? Warren Beatty and Annette Benning would be another couple that have been together awhile.

Mirren and her husband, director Taylor Hackford, will have been married for about 10 years by the time of the Oscars, and they've been in a domestic partnership since 1986. So they got that whole "best of both worlds" thing goin' on.
