How the Console 'Failures' Finally Won
Gaming history is littered with failed consoles - from Vectrex to Dreamcast - and yet each have made such profound contributions to gaming today as to be well worth celebrating, sometimes more so than the more commercially entrenched machines. The legacy of history's failures is tomorrow's successes, including innovations like Nintendo's Wii.

I don't know why people call the Dreamcast a failure.

It wasn't a bad system at all, it was just launched at the wrong time.

I'd consider a failure something that people purchase only to regret it later. I dont think any Dreamcast owners regret their decision.

Call Sega. They might offer some insight.

Financially, yes. Creatively, no, unlike their other, actual failures, especially the 32X.

Before MAME, though, the 32X was the only place to get my mostly-unfucked-with, original-unexpurgated-Sega-arcade-version After Burner fix.

...But otherwise, yeah.

It also had the enjoyable Knuckles Chaotix, the only console Doom worth owning until the PS1 release, and a surprisingly great Virtua Fighter port that was better than the one they put on Saturn. Other than those, my hate for ever owning that system knows no limits.
