I thought this was different from the previous edition from Pioneer that everyone said was awful. Are they actually the same transfer? If so, then I will DEFINITELY be buying this new one . . . if not, and the one I have actually is a recent, good transfer of the film, then I probably won't get it again.

Both previous Pioneer editions are the same transfer.
This'll be the DVD of the year for me. I like that you admitted defeat at the front of the article re: being unable to properly convey the greatness of this film. I listen to kids (i.e., anyone younger than me) call this "slow and boring", and I want to euthanize them.

Eh, I've driven down the street off Sunset in Hollywood where the Shape killed the babysitters in
Halloween...I've stolen chunks of broken steps from the end of
The Exorcist in Georgetown...even pulled off the PA turnpike to check out the
Dawn of the Dead mall...so I "get" it. But I'd google map that shit and drive my own ass out to those sites. I don't blame him for charging, I blame shitheads for paying.
