Street Fighter: The Movie

Just bought this on my lunch break at Best Buy for 7 bucks. The movie actually comes with a paper insert with production notes. I can't wait until I get home to watch this turd while poking my dick with thumbtacks.

Why did I buy this movie? Because Sudden Death wasn't there. I'm not joking.

EDIT: I'm so glad my 500th post was this topic.

SF's more tolerable than you might think, but still pretty dumb.

And how come there's no widescreen DVD of Sudden Death?

It's not in widescreen? Fuck that then. I want Pittsburgh in 1.78:1 aspect ratio glory!

You should probably have bought the just re-released animated film. It's also stupid, but at least it has good fights. Of course it doesn't have that moving Van Damme speech.

The Animated Movie re-release is out? I thought it was AUGUST 18th....

Shit, thanks for the reminder.

I thought this was about the Sonny Chiba version....

Yep, it's out at my local store anyway. I don't know if you really want to buy it though, more of a rental really.

Aside from the fact that the fights are some of the best in any anime (especially that Chun Li versus Vega fight), I have a long, nostalgic history with that movie. It's a buy for me.

Watched the movie today, and it was a lot better when I was a kid. Sweet Christ that movie had me laughing in all the wrong ways. They also did a great job of making Kylie Minogue look ugly.

What's really funny about the disc is the surprisingly large amount of bonus material. There's featurettes, a feature-length commentary by the director, deleted scenes, outtakes, storyboards, promotional materials, conceptual art, and trailers. Wow.

How's Raul Julia's Bison hold up? For years, I seem to remember him being the only fun thing about that movie. ("For you...the day Bison graced your village was the most important day of your life. But for me...it was Tuesday.")

I was surprised as well... Amazing that Universal gave it the balls-out Collector's Edition treatment when the Jaws doc was edited down on the version I have (I don't have the newer one ;_; ). Darkman didn't get such a nice release. Hell, The Shadow didn't even get a WS release... weird.

That was also back in the day when Universal didn't even advertise on the back that there were special features. 12 Monkeys, to my surprise, had a doc that was nearly as long as the movie! Sweet Zombie Jesus! Dragonheart and Dragon: Bruce Lee Story got pretty good releases as well at that time (Universal musta loved Rob Cohen).

Is it true Julia died to avoid appearing in a sequel?

"Are you man enough to fii-iight with me?"

Forgot about this thread. To answer your question Crow, Julia probably is the best thing about this movie. He knew the movie was doody and that a bunch of Japanese suits were giving him a lot of money (Capcom financed it, Universal distributed it), so he put on his Gomez Addams overacting face and had fun. Not the worst way to end your movie career, I guess.

Any way you spin it, you need a big fat bowl to enjoy this movie as an adult.

You paid 6.95$ too much. The Street Fighter movie made Mortal Kombat look like Citizen Kane.

But then again, why am I bitching against a movie whose animated version had better acting, direction, story and action ?

And titties.

That movie's awesome. Van Damme co-stars with his headknot.

DeSouza was at the Top of his Game.

Raul: "You've made me a very happy man!"

Van Damme: "Next: I MAKE YOU A DEAD ONE."
