Look carefully at that panel with the sillouette of the two of them. See that?

Batman is jerking him off.

I knew that smile meant he was up to something.

There's a line dividing rings in the puddle. The line disappears and the ripples intertwine so you can't determine one from the other. It's symbolic of the division between crazy and sane, or more specifically, Batman and Joker.

Ah. Jesus, what a great comic.

I started on some Daredevil and Gotham Central trades that my library carries. I'm digging it all lot more than I thought I would.

I also picked up Ultimate Fantastic Four Vol 3 (N-Zone).

I personally found Venom a real drag, at least for the first two thirds or so. It picks up later on and provides some good Bat-action, but otherwise, it's BOOOORING. You guys totally suckered poor Ken Savage! Hope he enjoys it, though.

Has anyone read Batman: Blind Justice? I picked it up simply because I'd run out of Batman stuff to buy, and it's really one of the best fucking things I've ever read. Written by Sam Hamm, who really should do more Batman work. It's every bit as smart and well-written as an Alan Moore comic, only without the self-consciousness. To me, it feels like late-80s Batman should feel, partly thanks to the skanky Denys Cowan art.

There's an awesome Howard Chaykin pin-up in the back of the TPB of Robin subserviently shining Batman's boots, too. A must-buy!

Sorry to bump this thread, but Mr. Read is right. If you want great mythologized comics, then try some of Mark Waid's absolutely excellent run on Flash (starring the aforementioned Mr. West). Just about all the major storylines are in trade format. But if there's one I'd suggest, it would be The Return of Barry Allen. It's good for newbies - lots of superspeed action with a fair bit of Flash Mythology For Dummies. (If the Flash film franchise gets off the ground, this storyline begs to be made as a sequel.)

When I picked up a copy at Borders and started flipping through it, all I knew of the character was from the TV show and that his nephew was now the 'new' Flash in the comics. Within six months, I was buying the comic monthly and ransacking the local comic shop's back issue collection.
