Any good local 4-player 360 games?

Ok, I've got an XBox 360 and four controllers. Everyone kept telling me that the XBox was better than the PS2 because you could have 4 people play. Now recommend me some good 4 player games I can play on the 360 (backwards compatible original XBox games will do too) with the other people in my home. My brother-in-law keeps telling me to buy Halo 2, but my wife doesn't like shooters, so can anyone recommend me some games? I can find plenty of Live games, but I want something I can get my friends over to play. Suggestions?

sorry then. I don't have a 360, just figured that a pretty recent mega hit would have had the emulation written for the 360, but they are awesome multiplayer games for the x-box.

Well when X-Men Ultimate Alliance comes out you and yours can enjoy that one.

Plus whenever Castle Crashers (from the people who brought you Alien Hominid) is released on the Marketplace you can download that 4 player greatness.

My groups of friends always used the Gamecube for 4 player action, it seemed to have the best library of 4-player games, but we did play the XBox a little.

The only things we played on Xbox, though, were the Halo games and some sports games (mostly NBA Street). NBA Street can be fun, even for people who are really hardcore into basketball or sports, but it certainly isn't for everyone

A few weeks ago I bought a copy of NHL Hitz 2002 on XBox for 3 dollars at Blockbuster, and my friends have played it almost without cease since then.

Seriously, it's a dumb game but it's absurdly entertaining in stretches. Also a first-generation XBox title is probably not what you're looking to play on your shiny new 360, but there you go.

Fuzion Frenzy 2 comes out later this year.

Because of their software libraries, there's a big difference between the Xbox and 360 as a 4-player machine. If the people you were talking to were speaking specifically about the 360, they were creating myth on the fly. If they meant the original Xbox, I can see why you'd just pony up for a 360, assuming newer would be better. Microsoft is making a push for broader audiences this time, so there will almost certainly be good 4P games eventually, but as most of the posts make clear, that hasn't happened yet.

And yeah, even the Xbox's lineup pales next to the GameCube for 4P stuff, though if you went the GameCube route you'd have more kid-oriented party games than anything else. Depends on what you're looking to play, though Super Smash Brothers (GameCube) is hard to beat for most audiences.

They were talking about the original Xbox, but I figured that Microsoft would make at least some of their 4 player games backwards compatible. There's always Worms, I guess.

As for the Gamecube, I figure I'll just wait for the Wii. That one's supposed to play all the Gamecube games, right?

Guess I'll just have to wait.

It's supposed to, yes, though we'll see to what extent it actually happens. The 360 was supposed to be fully backwards compatible, too. If nothing else, it'll be relatively cheap, and there will be a new Super Smash Brothers for it. There's no reason to buy a GameCube at this point, unless you're dying to play something 4P and can find one really cheap.
