Like Spinning Plates by Radiohead, what a lovely band.

"To here knows when" by My Bloody Valentine

Couldnt find a 'bands that are owning you' thread, but right now three Japanese bands are kicking my arse and I'm loving it.

Girugamesh
Sadie
The Gazette

Yes they all look ridiculous, but damn they make me unable to keep still.

"In the backseat" by the Arcade Fire

This is the song that I took the least notice of every time I listened through Funeral, but somehow yesterday I just 'got it' and haven't been able to put it down since.

I don't listen to the radio or watch MTV, but somehow I end up hearing that insipid CRANK THAT ROBOCOP song at least three times every day.

Rocks by Primal Scream. I remember being really into MTV when I was on my North Carolina vacation around '96, and now I know why; Butthole Surfers, Primal Scream, Nada Surf and Soundgarden were all on heavy rotation.

That's like me and 'End of the Line'. It sums up a good feeling.

At the moment,

Big Casino - Jimmy Eat World

I got to head over to Second Spin and pick up a couple of their albums.

"Colorado" - Manassas

Four songs are taking up headspace at the moments:

"(Antichrist Television Blues)" - Arcade Fire

"My Hero" (Live, acoustic version) - Foo Fighters

"Coconut Skins" - Damien Rice

"Say It To Me Now" (ONCE version) - Glen Hansard

Every time I turn on my ipod these days these get played at least once.

"Go into the Water" - Dethklok, I'm even trying to learn the damn song. The tuning is a bitch.

Swimming in the Swamp - The National Lights
Pyrite Pedestal - Pretty Girls Makes Graves

Also came across a pretty cool revamped version of Staylin' Alive by The Teddy Bears. Man if I ever wanted to do a hipster homage to that opening I'd use that tune.

Here are the last few songs i've played at work.

Bleed it out: Linkin Park

I get it: Chevelle....This is the song owing me right now

Fame: Bowie

Supermassive black hole: Muse

Fantasy: Aldo Nova......Don't ask.

Currently playing: Between Breaths by Blaqk Audio

"Sweet Honey Pie" by Witchcraft, a really nice little acoustic song. I've had that and "Tennessee Border" by Hank Williams on repeat for a half hour now.

Question of Time - Depeche Mode
Across The Universe - Rufus Wainwright, Moby, and Sean Lennon
I Burn - The Toadies

Balicky Bon- Hypnotic Brass Ensemble.

I'd like to get the CDs these guys have released but, last time I checked, you could only order them by calling some dude. There's something in me that thinks that's a little too weird.

"Hyperballad (Brodsky Quartet version) - Björk

(apparently the title lost its hyphen in the remixing process)

For a minute there I thought this might be better than the original; I quickly talked myself out of that silliness, but it's still quite great. I have to say I am disappointed with Telegram in general, though, having just listened to it for the first time today.

Lots of Beatles, mostly late-era stuff. Most heavily-played tracks...

Sexy Sadie
She's Leaving Home
Drive My Car
Everybody's Got Something to Hide Except Me & My Monkey
A Day in the Life
Savoy Truffle

Big Poppa by Mindless Self Indulgence

MSI is one of those bands that was made for anxious and twitchy caffiene freaks with anger issues. They often fuel my late night frenzies.

Nina Simone-Tomorrow (we will meet again)
Nina Simone-'Liza Jane. I cannot get this song out of my head, it's insanely catchy.

Ataxia - Ethiopian Song
These four songs by The Black Kids (from their online only EP Wizzard of Ahhh, it's free on their MySpace, check them out...totally worth it).

Hit the Heartbreaks
I'm Not Gonna Teach Your Boyfriend How To Dance With You
Hurricane Jane
I've Underestimated My Charm Again

Don't know how the Gallagher brothers are regarded round these parts, but I rather like this latest release from Noel's new band, High Flying Birds. The song is "Aka...What a Life!"

ARISE!!!!!

I'm sitting here listening to the reissue of Malcolm Holcombes "A Hundred Lies". This motherfucker is the real deal. I saw him a few years ago with my brother in law at a shitty little coffee shop in Lexington, Kentucky. I had no idea who he was, my brother in law didn't either. Turned out he was the crazy looking guy chain smoking and pounding coffee at the bar. The owner walks over to him, pats him on the shoulder, he gets up, still mumbling to himself and grabs his guitar. Walking over by the stage he leans his head against the wall and takes about a minute or two tuning his guitar then walks up on stage and proceeds to tear the fucking house down. He pounds his foot when he plays, swings his head around like Ray Charles and chicken picks the shit out of his guitar, at that particular show it was an old Martin that looked like it had been drug through forty miles of desert.

Get on iTunes and show him some love if you're so inclined. His best album, in my opinion, is "I Never Heard You Knockin'". It's just him, a guitar and some songs that get me right down to the bone.

EDIT: I just realized "I Never Heard You Knockin'" isn't available on iTunes but you CAN get it on his website. Do. It.
