DVDs you had and sold and then wished you hadn't

Rounders. Sold it like five years ago and now every time it's on the tube I'm watching like sheep.

They let you buy them again at stores. Plus, there's a great new edition!

I got rid of all of my Lar Park Lincoln movies a while ago. I wish I still had them.

FLASH GORDON. Seriously. I needed to pay the rent that month, so I sold a number of films including this one, with the intention of getting them again someday down the road. Turns out Flash is on moritorium. I've seen it priced as much as $80. I can live without it, but... you know.

I sold my Criterion RoboCop. Not that I regret selling it, as the R2 boxset had more features, but I let it go for a lot less than it was worth.

I've sold maybe 50 of my DVDs over the years, the only ones I miss are One Hour Photo and Go. I didn't even think One Hour Photo held up to repeat viewings, but every once in a while I get a hankerin' to watch it again(and the Charlie Rose segment on the disc). Go is just one of those movies where I really like some parts, and others just piss me off. Still, I should have kept it.

I'll never regret selling Charlie's Angels and Dogma though.

If you have a region free DVD player, get the UK Anniversary Edition. It can be found for very cheap, and it's got some commentary tracks.

Maybe a little off-topic, but my copy of Hands on a Hard Body and a numbered 2-disc Halloween were stolen from me and I miss them much. Have a hard time finding them even on eBay.

Sorry to derail, but what else was on the R2 disc(s)?

I had all the Transformers cartoon DVDs and sold them to buy new bass guitar equipment. Those things were expensive as hell too. Now I have to settle for my VHS tapes. ....... sigh ....

I don't, but I was planning on upgrading/hacking the player at some point in the coming year. Good shit. Thanks.

Back on topic, I just remembered I had some cheapie discs with the Fleischer(sp?) Superman cartoons that I wish I hadn't sold. The quality was piss poor, but they were still fun.

AFAIK, there is no R2 Criterion. There's just the one Region 0 out-of-print Criterion release (which is listed at the top of that page) which has a Verhoeven commentary that isn't found on any other release.

Those things are really easy to find. The Fleischer toons are public domain so there are plenty of no-budget discs with them on for less than $5. If you want remastered versions, they'll be in the spanky Superman boxset that Warners is putting together.

If you Google for them, you can even find them on YouTube or available for download at Archive.org .

Stupidest thing I have ever done.

Sold all 20 Bond dvds a few years back when I was unemployed and needed to make rent.

Fuck me in the ass.

Well, there are new "Ultimate" DVD releases coming later this year, which you can collect again. Plus the eventual HD-DVD/BluRay/data crystal releases in the future.

It just becomes harder to throw a ton of money at things such as that the older I get and as responsibilities in life increase.

Dan, after your comment I excitedly went and checked eBay to see what my Robocop Criterion might be worth now - this post is an effort to turn my mild disappointment into your possibile reunion with the disc - 40 odd bucks is around what I paid a couple of years ago.

Where do most of you sell your DVD's? I've checked out eBay, but that doesn't seem like it would be my best option. I'd like to get rid of maybe half of my collection now that I get Netflix.

Amazon Marketplace is also a viable online option for easiily unloading dvds
post #23 of 25
TheDigitalBits did a nice rundown on the various public-domain sets of the Fleischer Superman cartoons here. Doesn't look like any of them are definitive though.

(edit) Back on topic: I sold the original release of Free Enterprise when the SE came out, and immediately regretted it since the new version doesn't directly identify the changes that were made, and a lot of the old extras got left behind.

I sell at Amoeba Music, for store credit.

Oh okay. That's the one I already have, I didn't realize it was region free. I also didn't realize the new set had a different commentary(I figured they bought the rights to the old one), sounds even more tempting now.
