Now hang on, I don't see any reason for people's feelings to be hurt. Is it necessary to hold a grudge because someone badmouthed you in a fashion that most likely wasn't serious? We're above that.

I kind of like the reputation thing, even though the "advantage" lies with the 15 - 25 people who post a lot — as opposed to contributing to society and/or being useful.

I must say I do actually like them. It is nice to have somebody boost your reputation on the CHUD boards when you've contributed to a discussion or at least made a good joke. Even our big curmudgeon said he liked the moment when he ascended to a glorious beacon of light, however briefly.

However, if the signature isn't a lie, and Butler did just commend me, I'm back to being completely lost on the inner workings of them. Why was his compliment a neutral square?

The only thing that needs to be changed is to put on some sort of filter that makes sure that if you leave a negative comment, it has to be funny. Some of the insults have been gold. There's really no reason to take any of it seriously.

there was something like this on the boards when I first started on them. It wasn't rep points, but it was something like that. I don't think they hurt at all unless you're over sensitive
