Still not sure to make of this one. Anyone looking forward to it? Poor Friedkin hasn't done anything great in what, 20 years?

I saw the trailer for this one yesterday, and I have to admit that it really didn't do anything for me. I'd like to see it eventually, but I'm in no hurry. I have a feeling this will end up sitting on my Netflix queue forever.

I'm looking forward to it with reservations. The play is dynamite. I've never seen a play get under people's skin (almost literally) the way this one does. If Friedkin can tap into that and deliver it will be a terrific movie. If it's like anything he's made in the last couple of decades (after TLADILA), maybe not so much.

What about The Guardian?
Yes, it may be cheesy and stupid but i think it´s a lot better than that overrated piece of shit, The Exorcist.

It's surprising to me that they seem to be marketing this as a horror film. Well, not that surprising really.

I've been hearing a lot of good things about the movie. Many people who've seen it seem to think that Michael Shannon and Ashley Judd will get Oscar nominations.

Here's Ebert's Cannes coverage of the movie. http://rogerebert.suntimes.com/apps/...ALS01/60522002

You are ridiculous.

I have an extremely irrationaly fear of bugs, so naturally this trailer had me squirming. I'll probably end up waiting for this to hit on dvd.

And that guy who plays Ashley Judd's boyfriend (A quick IMDB check reveals him to be called Michael Shannon) to be popping up everywhere lately. I never saw him before World Trade Center, and now he seems to be popping up everywhere.

I don't think To Live and Die in LA gets enough credit. I put it up there as the third best thing he has done before The Exoricist and The French Connection.

The Exorcist had such a strong inpact on me as a child and still holds up for me today as a classsic. So any time he takes a dip in the horror genre, I'm gonna be interested in checking it out.

although, comparing it with The Exorcist might have been a bit stupid.

Ooh, looks interesting.

I'm always in Friedkin's corner, since he directed The Exorcist and endeared himself to me forever. I just wonder if, instead of suprising the actors by firing a pistol like he did while shooting The Exorcist if he creeped up behind them and said "bzzt" ;D

Any word on if it's going to get a real theatrical release?

I can't wait to see this. I really like the new posters too.

Do we think the first poster makers realized they were referencing the Exorcist bit with the raised letters on her belly in the poster? Given the Friedkin connection, I can't imagine they didn't realize it, but who knows. The first thing I thought of when looking at it was The Exorcist, even before I realized it was a Friedkin movie. Creepy. Makes my skin crawl. No pun intended.

Poster #2 -- Looks just like

Not a bad thing. That's a creepy poster. Also has a bit of a "trapped in history" The Others vibe. So different from the first poster. Like two different films. Interesting.
