Seems like they're trying to shake things up which I don't have a problem with. Miz and Del Rio have been heels for years now. It was time to try something different. Cena really really really needs to turn heel. So does Orton when he recovers from his 1,232nd injury.

I've never been a big fan of Flairs so him coming back, meant nothing to me. Everything I've read about him makes him seem like a total fuck up, and the way he talked about certain wrestlers in his book made him look like a total jackass.

Who can they turn heel really? Sheamus and Cena have been too squeaky clean for too long for it to be believable.

I guess Orton. He's a pretty lame baby face.

Making David Arquette the world champion was "shaking things up" too, but it doesn't make it a good idea.

How can you compare turning The Miz and Alberto Del Rio babyface to David Arquette winning the WCW title?

Because both are very, very bad ideas?

I don't get how though. One idea is to turn two pro wrestlers babyface and see if it works and the other was putting the title on a terrible actor. Yeah, they do need some heel turns soon but right now Punk and The Shield, Ziggler, Big Show will do. When Orton gets back turn him heel.

F4Wonline is reporting that Shelton Benjamin was granted his release from RoH and will most likely be returning to the WWE. Yes!! There are several veterans out there I'd like to see return to the WWE. Benjamin was definitely one of them. I wouldn't mind seeing Rhino back in the WWE.

Edit: Not completely off topic but speaking of David Arquette winning the WCW title, Ready To Rumble was on one of the HBO channels this morning.

They've been talking about WrestleMania matches on all the news sites latey. I think the big matches will probably end up being:

The Rock vs. John Cena II

CM Punk (champion) vs. Undertaker (title vs. streak)

Ryback vs. Big Show (champion)

Triple H vs. Brock Lesnar II

Edit: Fun main event on the live SmackDown tonight. And holy shit I missed seeing AJ skip around the ring in tight jean shorts. So glad she's not GM anymore.

I have a feeling that Orton may be in charge of Shield.  Sure, the logic isn't there, but when has WWE ever cared about that?

I really don't want it to be rematch city for wrestlemainia. Don't want Cena vs. Rock 2, but thats clearly going to happen, and I don't want Lesnar vs. Hunter 2.

If I had my way it'd be something like this, for the main matches:

Orton vs. Rock (legend vs. legend killer, plus it'd be cool to see Orton in a high profile match at wm again)

Ziggler vs. Jericho (rumored to come back, and Ziggles will be champ soon, and it would make sense. A revenge story since Ziggler retired him)

Punk vs. Austin (heavily rumored to happen)

Sheamus vs. Ryback

Lesnar vs. Taker (Better than Hunter vs. Lesnar 2 imo)

Not in order of course. Punk vs. Austin would likely go on last. Sheamus vs. Ryback would be a great opener.

So its been a couple weeks, we went through the worst Christmas Raw ever (except for how fucking good Foley looked as Santa. I seriously didn't even recognize him until he pulled out Mr.Socko) and a half-assed New years, but from the sounds of things, Every show from tomorrow till WM is supposed to be fucking 'stacked'. The Rock is going to be doing most Raws, a few smackdowns a couple PPV's (he is advertised as one of the 6 in the Elimination Chamber).

As things stand now, I am going back and forth about whether Rock will fight Cena again. I can very much see Cena wanting to get that WM Win over the Rock, but a lot of the inteviews from Rocky have me wondering. Taker vs Punk will be epic, and I could honestly care less about Brock/Hunter 2.

Someone posted this on another board, NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 7:

For old-school MMA fans, solid Sakuraba bout at around the 3 and a half hour mark.

EDIT: Hmmm, not sure why it isn't playing. Link if it's not working for you: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N0YtK5fzFYo&feature=player_embedded

I think most fans would agree. I'd be much more up for Rock vs Taker or Brock, or even HHH* than seeing a rematch. They could save Cena-Rock II until say Summerslam. The rematch doesn't really have that WM main event vibe.

*I'm aware these matches aren't 100% fresh, but we haven't seen them for years.

It's egregious that Cena vs. Taker has never happened at Mania. The 'E could build to that for an entire year, yet they keep giving us same old shit.

And HHH needing to get his win back over Lesnar kills any interest I might have had in seeing that matchup again. Helmsley never gave Punk a win after he killed his push. Would rather see Brock take on Great Khali in a strap match than watch him put over HHH to satisfy another McMahon ego.

I'm hoping HHH is working the smart fans and the real plans for Mania involve a more exciting direction.

Actually very excited for RAW, if only for the chance to see PunkRock go at it on the mic.

At least he will take it seriously unlike Mr.FruityGiggles.

Wow, did Punk totally own that promo last night.  Rock was gold as always, but man was Punk killing it before Rock even came out.  I could take or leave the rest of the show, but that last half hour was amazing.

Popeye on crack was a better put-down than Cookie Puss, though!

Cena may want to take notes on how to strike a balance on making silly jokes about an opponent while also treating them as a credible threat.

I'm a huge Rock fan. But the insistence on prompting the crowd for new catchphras chants and mentioning Twitter in almost every promo is like an icepick to the eye for anybody that watched him in the Attitude era. That was one of Punk's best WWE promos yet, and that's saying something. I love that even as a heel, he found a way to crap on the silly non-programs that Daniel Bryan and Tyson Kidd are stuck in. Interesting language to describe Brodus Clay's plight as well.....

Punk v Undertaker and Triple H v Brock I don't mind. I just don't want to see Rock v Cena again. The match first match was so so, the build up was hitting GET ON WITH IT! teritory by November and they promised that it was a one time thing.

Although my only problem with Punk v Undertaker is the roumor is Streak v Title. I don't want to see the streak end but The Undertaker and his one day a year schedule doesn't really need the WWE Title.

I wouldn't worry, I can't see Punk making to WM as Champ anyway

Was really disappointed in The Rock last night. What made it worse was that Punk was dead serious and spitting fire, while The Rock was doing the same cornball shit that he and we shit on Cena for doing. It was like watching an adult have an argument with a five year old. The Rock was always a smartass, but he knew when to get serious, too. Last night was fucking painful to watch, and I say that as a gal who has loved the man for practically half my life.

I wouldnt mind a Rock vs Orton have be a battle of 3rd generation super stars. Have Rock tell about how Orton is ruining the family name and he is a joke who just gets by because of it or because he was HHH butt monkey

I think both had their ups and downs. Punk was getting pretty rambly before Rock came out. I really hate when they kind of repeat themselves over and over. Felt like Punk was waiting for Rocks music to hit.

Rock was great when he wasn't fishing for Hashtags. Cookiepuss was stupid as hell. Punkeye the sailor was kinda funny. His best moments were when he was playing up how much of a threat Punk was.

Punk owned the whole fucking thing with 'At the Rumble, your arms are to short to box with GOD'. Sick sick line. Well basically his whole 'I'm gonna kick your ass' was amazing. My jaw was on the floor and you could just see Rocks eyes saying 'Alright, this nambypamby bs that worked for Cena isn't nearly good enough'. I honestly cannot wait to see these two at each other all the way to the rumble

I don't think the WWE would trust Orton to main event WM against The Rock at this stage. With his injury and wellness policy issues, it's probably too risky for the biggest show of the year.

For a Summerslam it would be great however.

Orton isn't getting anything serious because he is a strike away from getting fired. Thought I have some high hopes that they turn him heel and he and Shaemus can have ater for the forseeable future.

Also: fuck WWE.Com and other sites for spoiling the Title change on Smackdown on Friday. Not going to do it here, but just wanted to rant about stupid sites that spoil shit.

I don't get why WWE.com is spoiling their own shows.  They also spoiled Kofi dropping the IC title a little while ago.  Do they think they can replicate the mass exodus from Nitro that happened when those goofs spoiled the Foley title change?

At this point I don't care who the rock faces, I just want it to be someone he's never fought before(at least 1 on 1). But Orton is number 3 behind Cena and Punk, and he is one of the best workers in the company.

WWE is spoiling things so people wont go to dirt sheets and get real news

that's stupid, cause I didn't get spoiled by wwe.com. I got spoiled by wrestlinginc.com. i never really check wwe.com and i don't have twitter so I figured I was properly insulated.

Is anyone else really underwhelmed by the PunkRock match now? The idea of it initially excited me, but after yet another Rock Concert, I just cannot summon any excitement anymore.

Well tbh they should have waited until the next PPV, or Wrestlemainia to do a Punk/Rock match. Apparently they want Punk/Austin or Punk/Taker for WM, but this match should be huge, and it'll probably do good numbers but it should feel more special. 3 weeks to build up for a match of this calibur just isn't enough. Especially when all we've gotten is one confrontation and one Rock concert, which I haven't even seen yet. But lets be honest, the Rock concert to Cena was awesome, but they're much better when Rocky is playing the heel. I'm sure the match will still be an awesome match, but it should feel like more like a big event.

I was a little shocked at how filthy the Rock got.Talking about penis and flabby tits I thought it was 98 all over again. I

He said what about what?! Flabby tits, I need to watch this promo stat!

I disagree Harley, I think this is great. I knew they were going to do a Rock Concert, but it was relatively short, and it ended like the last one SHOULD have ended. With both guy going after each other with anger and intensity. Hell, there has been more intensity and seriousness in these last 2 Raws (about half an hour maybe 35 mins of actual content?) then the entire year long 'build' of Rock/Cena. I can't wait to see these two tear each other apart, and I honestly can't wait for it to end at the rumble, and then Cena and Rock 2 to start, and finally everyone will (hopefully) see the shear difference in quality.

Part of me wonders though,  if they might keep this hot iron going and have Punk retain at the Rumble, and then have Rock win it at EC to drop it to Cena at WM.

No, I reckon they'll have Rock win at Rumble, with Punk given an out, likely a ref bump when hitting the GTS. At EC they'll have a no DQ type rematch, with Rock winning clean.

The only thing with that is, is the Rock is pretty heavily featured with 5 other guys in the EC promo, making a strong suggestion that rock/cena/punk + others will be in the Elimination Chamber match.

Speaking of the Elimination Chamber, any chance that Lesnar would be a participant? I mean think about this, if the chamber match was something like Rock vs Cena vs Punk vs Lesnar vs Ziggler vs Miz, they could have the match end with Rock taking out Punk and than have it be Lesnar vs Rock. Punk interferes and costs Rock the match, than that sets up the Rock vs Lesnar at Wrestlemainia. It would be a good story since Rocks never beat Lesnar and pretty much ended his career the last time he fought against Brock. Im just dreaming though.

I've watched just one show the past month. The January 7th show with the return of The Rock. I skipped most of last Monday until the end with The Rock concert. I was going to try and watch it all but heard that there was no surprises or returns. Anyways, it's actually felt kind of good not to be watching right now. I've put up with this horrible crap for too long. I've started watching other programs on Monday nights. I don't even bother with TNA at all. I'll read some of the results/spoilers on some news sites and it sounds like I'm not missing anything at all.

I think I'll watch Royal Rumble and WrestleMania and that will be it as far s wrestling goes this year. I doubt it will get really good any time soon. The only person worth watching is CM Punk and I can just youtube his weekly clips.

They be foolish to put Cena and Rock in the same match at EC six weeks before the WM match.

That scenario was me hoping Rock vs Cena 2 doesnt happen at WM this year
post #11342 of 12596

EVERYONES HUGGING EVERYONE!

Ugh raw needs to go back to 2 hours this is utterly dreadful. This might be the worst I've seen WWE/F. Just awful.

The Rocks stuff, and Punks promo were excellent. And we got 2 good matches in Orton vs Cesaro, and Miz vs Ziggler. I don't see whats so bad about this Raw, other than the terrible anger management segment.

Okay this segment was actually awesome. Almost makes up for the rest of the boring terrible scripted show this far........almost.

Rocks promo was great, and the Shield is still awesome. Would have been even more awesome if they ended the show with that. Shields involvement leads me to believe that Dwayne ain't walking away with the strap, which imo is a good thing.

Ha I think Del Rio missed that moonsault to end that match. Too funny.

Edit: THAT's MR. BOB BACKLUND TO YOU!

THIS IS THE WORST CENA PROMO I HAVE SEEN IN AGES.

In a matter of 10 minutes, this Raw went from being fairly decent, to being incredibly stupid.

WWE's problem is they have too much time now and have no clue what to do with it. God this show was so repetitious totally draining and mostly pointless. There were a couple good matches and some great promos and if edited down to 2 hours it could of been good but for a 3 hour show this is utterly grating and stupid, the announcers just repeating stuff that just happened is just dumb. This is why Nitro went back to 2 hours eventually, doing a three hour show every week is too much. Watching RAW now feels like a chore no tv show should feel like that, the whole point of wrestling is to generate cheap, easy ad revenue for tv networks.
