There really is no good way to make something like this feel compelling. You know they're never going to have a team win the whole thing in the second-to-last match.
It helped a lot that Brock is clearly a fan of AJ's work and thus was willing to sell the hell out of AJ working his knees. Tremendous match. I'm concerned, however, that they'll use this opportunity of AJ being all beat to shit in order to put the belt back on Jinder.

Women's elimination match was all over the place. Glad Asuka went over, but we're still not seeing what she's really capable of.

Men's elimination... Christ. Buried all the newer/younger guys (except for Braun, of course) in order to put over more McMahon Family drama. If Cena was going to just pull off a few moves and go home early, they may as well have had him get eliminated early on and allowed Roode or Nakamura to hang in there until the final moments. That crowd wanted more Roode.

Miz deserves better than what he's getting these days. I love when he gets intensely angry, like that Twitter video where he lost it over Corbin talking about his pregnant wife. More of THAT Miz, please!

(You won't find too many "indie geeks" who'll mark out for Miz!)

Still need to catch Takeover, I only saw the main event. I hear Velveteen/Black match was off the charts.

Oh, also waiting to see if The Young Bucks file their own C&D order after the announcers at Survivor Series lifted "Superkick Party". I doubt they'll do anything (not as petty as Vince is) ... but it'd give me a giggle if they did. The use of that phrase was no accident.

https://411mania.com/wrestling/brock-lesnar-not-injured-survivor-series-aj-styles-wants-rematch/

So looks like Brock is the only wrestler left that knows how to act and sell an injury cause he's fine.. Next up, most likely Brock VS Finn Balor.. That'll be the equivalent of child abuse.. I'd rather see a rematch with Styles and Lesnar at the Royal Rumble..

https://411mania.com/wrestling/brock-lesnar-may-not-defend-universal-title-royal-rumble/

So LESNAR will apparently be at the Royal Rumble, but won't defend the Universal Title because the WWE and Vince McMahon can't find a suitable opponent for him.. What the absolute fuck is this??? You just had a 5 Star Match with LESNAR/AJ Styles and I understand pitting a midget like Finn Balor is totally laughable, but perhaps they could do a Triple Threat with STYLES VS BALOR VS LESNAR, That way, the fans will be pleased that Balor is in the match despite the fact he'll be sacrificed for their sins...

I guess its too much work for Lesnar to put the title on the line in the Rumble itself? Have him look stronk, eliminate a ton of dudes, have a ton of dudes team up to eliminate him, then crown the winner the new champ, problem solved. Now he can go back to being absent for months at a time without leaving a show without its main title.

But nooooooooo, Brock gotta stay champ going int WM so big dog Roman can whoop that ass and get over. Uuunnnggghhh.

This is one reason I don't really watch mainstream wrestling anymore.

Brock's scheduled to be on the Dec18th Edition of RAW where I'm sure will find out who challenges him for the title at the Rumble... This is probably where Finn Balor challenges him much to everyone's laughter afterwards.. If they're going to do this, then it should be a Triple Threat Match to protect him from getting killed and he would get killed worse than AJ Styles did.. Hell, just have a rematch of Brock and Styles at the Royal Rumble with Balor... Problem solved...

Throw Samoa Joe in there for a 4 way and I'd care to watch it a bit.
I'm too lazy to do digging to find out right now, but did WWE end up buying the rights to use the Hardy's "broken" gimmick? Just curious after Monday's match between Matt and Bray where after the match Matt started doing the Delete thing and one of the shitty announcers made a lame "breaking point" comment.

If they did get the rights I'm sure there's a 99% chance they'll fuck it up, especially since they've wasted this much time after getting the Hardy's.

According to Meltzer, TNA is unofficially backing off... not just on the Hardy's, but ALL former talents.  Apparently there are some questionable accounting errors as it pertains to profit sharing, etc.. with talents that would be made public if the Hardy's ended up facing them in court. Easier to just let it go.

Apparently Matt won't be "broken", rather he'll be WOKEN Matt.

Either way, 6 months too late. Momentum is gone, and no one is going to take him as a credibe threat to even upper mid-carders after being booked so weak for so long.

Why the hell are they keeping Strowman away from Brock?

Because Brock beat him clean with one F5 already on his road to Mania, and because Strowman is now basically a baby face they don't want to lose.  And nobody who faces Brock until Reigns can win.

Because he lost fair and square, not to mention the fact that they had 0 chemistry together unlike Styles and Lesnar who worked very well together.. They should have a rematch at the Royal Rumble and just make it a Triple Threat by adding Balor, if for anything to shut the fans up over Balor not being over according to Vince..

How's "WOKEN" Matt?  I guess I'll YouTube his RAW segments in the morning... curious to see how much creative freedom Matt'll get with this run.  It can only work if Vince stays far, far the fuck away from Matt's actual character(s).  Just let Matt get Senior Benjamin, a drone and a camera crew go to work with Bray and see what they come up with. Could be a lot of fun!

Stoked for Wrestle Kingdom. Omega vs Jericho, and Okada vs Naito, and Marty Scurll vs Hiromu Takahashi vs Kushida vs Will Ospreay. It doesn't get more epic than that.  Less than a month away!

Titanic clash between Strowman and Kane with the winner getting a title shot at the Royal Rumble ... that ends in a double countout.

Yeah, it's a Triple Threat Match with Kane most likely eating the pin and then it's on to WM 34 where Lesnar will eat the pin courtesy of Reigns and thanks to Vince.. I'm pretty sure that if and whenever Lesnar's contract is up, I'm finished with the WWE.. I haven't tuned into RAW or SMACKDOWN in the past 2 weeks and don't even miss the shows.. Lesnar returns next week and I'll probably check it out..

Broken/Woken Matt was never going to work in WWE. The joy of it in TNA was that Matt and Jeff did it on their own like it was some strange absurdist YouTube film. Him feuding with Wyatt makes a certain kind of sense, but that dude has been playing the same notes for years that it doesn't mean anything.

Also, Vince is supposedly bringing back the XFL. Finally.

Can they bring back "He Hate Me" as a coach?

Oh boy. Vince may get back into football.  He sold a shitload of WWE stock to fund Alpha Entertainment, which has filed for the trademarks on XFL. May as well re-open the WBF while he's at it. I'm sure Lex Luger doesn't have anything better to do...

A new version of the XFL sounds like a disaster. Vince might as well have taken his money and built a fleet of zeppelins.

Just you watch, it'll have rules against not standing for the anthem and the right wing sheep will hail it as better than the NFL.

The fact that Vince did this signals to me the beginning of the end as him being sole owner of the WWE and it's now going to be handed over to HHH/Stephanie/Shane to run into the ground.. This Star Destroyer is the WWE when they get a hold of it..

Sort of surprised they didn't let Elias go over, even if it were via schenanigans, but whatever.. It's all about Stephanie McMahon and the so called Women's Revolution with their 1st Royal Rumble.. Amazing how even wrestlers who hate one another in a storyline hug it out once she announced this as though they completely forgot about staying in character..

Word is that a lot of the talent were taken by surprise by the announcement, so a lot of those reactions were genuine.

We have tickets to the next ROH show in Atlanta in February, I think. I'm hoping he holds on until then--we missed him when he wasn't here last time (he was nursing a back injury). I love Dalton Castle.

Argh--I want to watch the NJPW show, but it's at like 3 AM ET on Thursday morning. Lol.

Yeah, but it's like a 5 hour show. First hour will be their shitty version of a Royal Rumble.  The real card will start at 4am.  Ok, maybe that's not so much better... but hey, it's worth it!

I'm not sure if I'll be up for the entire show that morning, but I'm definitely watching the show. Naito vs Okada, White vs Tanahashi and (of course) Omega vs Jericho are all going to be freakin amazing. Can't wait!

So, I went to Beyond Wrestling's "Heavy Lies the Crown" show on New Years Eve. They timed it just right, so the main event of David Starr vs Joey Janella (fans bring the weapons) match started directly at midnight. They did a countdown, they swigged glasses of champaign in the ring.... and immediately started wailing on each other as the crowd chanted "Happy New Year". LOL.

I'm not big into hardcore stuff anymore, and the amount of unprotected headshots made me very uncomfortable... but for what it was, it was a hell of a plunder-style bloodbath.  Starr is a hell of a good worker, though.. I'd prefer him to stay out of the gimmick matches as much as possible.  Janella... that's his bread and butter. He's better suited to CZW, IMHO... but the Beyond crowd loves the fucking guy. Guess you can't fault the company for pushing him so hard.

The two hour pre-show, which was basically it's own card, is streaming free on YouTube still if anyone's interested.  The Watts vs Zenshi match was the highlight for sure.

I wanted to just stop by and say I'm fully officially weened off of WWE. Not even checking the Youtube channel for the highlights anymore.

I feel SOOOO good.

No spoilers, but I read the two main event matches were great, and the Tanahashi/White match was...not great. I saw a quick 1 minute high light reel of Jericho/Omega and it looked insane, especially the finish. Will try to catch it on YouTube somewhere before it disappears.

Also I saw a blurb from NJPW that they will be running their New Year Dash stream for free. Check out njpwworld.com for details.

Jericho was truly impressive. I expected a good match, but I didn't expect he'd be able to match Omega athletically at this stage of his career. I was wrong - Jericho hasn't worked this hard in at least a decade.

Omega is money. I hope he stays clear of McMahon World for as long as possible

I can't wait to watch it!  Jericho has always let me down lately in WWE...  He's a GREAT pro wrestler but his work rate no longer blew my hair back.  I'm stoked to see what unleashed Japan Jericho has in store.

How much work rate can you  possibly expect out of a guy like Jericho who's pretty much winding down in his career at 40 years old???

Not expecting quantity, I want high quality. To me, his WWE stuff has not been that at all lately. If that's the case, maybe it's time.

Finished the show awhile ago and here's some non-spoiler thoughts:

- The Young Bucks are the best at what they do and that's tag team wrestling. Anyone who says they're overrated doesn't know what they're talking about.

- Cody Rhodes fucking sucks. Kota Ibushi does not.

- Loved, LOVED the Goto/Suzuki match.

- That Jr. Heavyweight Championship 4 way was outstanding and completely outclasses anything you'll see on 205 Live.

- Tanahashi/White was okay but White clearly isn't ready for the main event spotlight yet.

- Jericho/Omega lived up to the hype and more. Jericho was fantastic here. This was old school Lionheart Chris Jericho.

- Okada/Naito III was a great main event to cap off a show full of great action.

I also enjoyed the NEVER Openweight Six-Man Tag Title Gauntlet Match and IWGP Heavyweight Tag Title matches as well.

Looks like Jericho is staying for at least a little while longer. They just filmed a pull-apart brawl between he and Naito!

If I'm in Jericho shape at his age (47) I'll be a happy man.
Haven't seen Okada/Naito yet, but the rest of the show was amazing. They should erect monuments to Chris Jericho and Kenny Omega. I genuinely thought it wouldn't live up to the hype, but it actually exceeded it, I'd honestly prefer he wrap up his career in NJPW than ever go back to WWE, Kenny died for our sins but the balls on Jericho to take that finish, which made me wince and swear quite loudly. Every match was great, aside from Tanahashi vs White which was just solid (And certainly not bad). Goto and Suzuki was potato heaven, I'll need to rewatch KES vs Evil and Sanada because my mind just mentally tapped out and couldn't process the concept of wrestling by that point so I took a long break before the next batch of the show. That fatal four way good lord, I thought Scrull died. Cody and Ibushi was top notch. Subdued Young Bucks was a weird sight, but kudos to them for adjusting, I'm guessing it was to make the fatal four way and Jericho/Omega stand out more.

You know you're on fire as a company when the worst booking decision of the night was Tokyo Latina wearing pants.

That's what I love about WK every year. It's just non-stop action, no bullshit strong style wrestling and everything that I love about New Japan and puroresu in general.

Apparently New Year's Dash is pretty good this year so I'll check it out later.

Jesus Christ, I'm re-watching the Jr Heavyweight 4 way.... damn, I think that may have been my favorite match on a card that was chock full of 4+ star bouts. When Takahashi is the weak link in your 4 way, you know it's going to be amazing.  And that's no slam on Takahashi ... but Kushida, Scurll and Ospreay are just next level great.  For my money, the only high flier in Ospreay's league is Ricochet ... and there is no better heel working today than Scurll.

Others have said it, but I'll reiterate: THIS is what 205 Live should look like.

Isn't it amazing to watch a major wrestling show and come away from it without ANY anger/frustration over the booking?  If forced at gunpoint to find a fault in the show, I think the wrong guy won Okada/Naito ... but the match was so damned good that it didn't really bother me.

I think Okada is going to have a Kobashi like title reign before someone finally beats him. He's amazing.

Can you imagine the sheer silence if some really massive dickhead heel is the one who dethrones Okada?

ETA: Okada/Naito was fantastic. Not as good as Jericho/Omega or the four way, but still ecxellent. Okada should absolutely continue to reign, NJPW is still growing, it's too soon to dethrone him.
