The draft is Tuesday night at 10:00 central.

Remember, you are fighting for more than bragging rights. The top four teams get promoted to the main veteran league next year and replace the 4 losers from that league.

and talk smack here ...
Beginner's luck, fuckers. I'll have it. You won't. I could draft a kicker in the first round and still do well. Hah!
Auto drafting, most likely. Maybe I can be there for the first few rounds to get decent stuff.
Well, it can only get better after last year's disaster, only made semi-respectable by a three-game winning streak at the end.

But as long as someone's my bitch (last year it was Gist if I recall, as two of my four wins came against him), it's all good.

Question for Starving: how do you figure the four promoted teams? Is it the top four at the end of the regular season or the playoff semifinalists?

It should be the top 4 semifinalists.

And Jason - the A-League draft was over in one hour, so it might be a pretty quick one if you can hold out till (east coast??) midnight.
Yeah, if a lot of people are auto-drafting, I might be able to hold out.
Hmm, I may be able to hold out until midnight. I'm staying up to watch the Rescue Me finale anyway.

I should be able to draft tonight from work. I'll just slip off the casino floor and do as much as I can in the office until someone wonders where I am at.

Being the boss is nice ... as long as my boss isn't there ...
Why does it say that there is 2 hours and 17 minutes until the draft starts? That would put drafting EDT at 8:00PM...
Fuckin' Yahoo!... now it's back to the 11:00 EDT time. It's done stuff like this in all of my drafts so far. Weird.
I can't believe there were so many auto drafters in the A league. Makes it easier for the live drafters.
Not really. I hate it when the highest ranked player available is the player you want but you know you have no chance in getting them because the guy ahead of you isn't drafting.
I will be there live.

This year, I'm making sure to actually check the scoring rules of the correct league ahead of time!

See everyone tonight.

my fucking internet connection at work would not allow the live drafting window to work .....

damn it
It's over now - one hour 17 minutes

If anyone wants their RB back up I'm open to trade talk. Thin WR/Back up QB. Better get now while it's a bit cheaper.

I am not unhappy with my first draft ever. Is it odd that I have two defenses? I notice no one else does.

It's a common strategy to pick one kicker and one defense, freeing up two more picks for skill positions that may help you later. Then you just pick up a kicker or defense off of waivers for your drafted players' bye weeks, ditching a drafted played who isn't panning out or swapping out your kicker or defense for a better one. This happens much more frequently in auction drafts, where you don't want to waste too much money on kickers and defenses.
I have two defenses. Will wait a few weeks before I dump one for the other.

It's a bad move. I'd pick up Carnell Williams back up stat. The guy is injury prone and then you won't have to rush to get him. Hell I'd dump your 2nd TE as well.

Then again keep them. Easier to beat you with less depth.
QB - Eli Manning, Phillip Rivers
RB - Rudi Johnson, Willis McGahee, DeAngelo Williams, Fred Taylor, TJ Duckett
WR - Donte Stallworth, Mushin Muhommad, Matt Jones, Michael Jenkins, Greg Jennings, Santonio Holmes
TE - Heath Miller
DEF - Cincinatti
K - Rian Lindell

(spellings may be off)

I'm pretty happy with my team, let's hope for no injuries... (crosses fingers, knocks on wood, throws salt over shoulder, etc)
You are in trouble at WR. Matt Jones could be a surprise and you need Griese to start in Chicago and Mush to actually hold onto the ball. The rest of the team looks great though.

Just do yourself a favor and cut Fraud Taylor now.
QB - P. Manning, D. Brees
TE - A. Gates, M. Pollard
WR - R. Wayne, T. Houshmandzadeh, A. Randle El, A. Toomer, C. Jackson
RB - D. Foster, J. Addai, R. Dayne
K - N. Rackers, N. Kaeding
DEF - Carolina, Dallas
Opposite problem of Wehman, RB problems. Addai is unknown and Rhodes could still take starter job from him. Foster should be good but Duckett should get carries but it looks like split even if Portis is out.

Plus very diffacult to have a QB, RB, and WR from the same team. It worked well for me when I had Culpepper, Moss, and Robert Smith but these guys aren't the same. And playing Duckett and Randle El at the same time is also dangerous.
Opposite problem of Wehman because he got nearly every one of my potential guys a pick or round ahead of me.

I've covered my bases for the bye weeks, but I expect to make some changes. I don't see why you have issues with Manning/Wayne, even with Addai in the mix.

I'm pretty satisfied with my team as it stands, considering.
Wayne Manning isn't the problem. Double dipping is fine esp. when Wayne should get 10 TD's. But if the Colts start off slow offensively you are in trouble w/ 3 guys from 1 team. Not to mention you don't know if Addai will be taken out at the goaline.

Colts are a high scoring team so it's safer than most but you are looking at 4 or 5 weeks where 3 guys could be hurting for scoring at the same time.

While we are analyzing:

Michael Vick and Byron Leftwich? Not too promising there.

I like Ronnie Brown. You also better hope Willie Parker ain't a one-hit wonder, especially without Bettis protecting him and Staley on the way out. I don't think he's a full season, heavy load guy. Kevin Jones killed me last year in one of my other leagues and we know Mike Martz holds down his backs. I love Maroney, but he has to get past Dillon and your other two are back ups.

Your top two receivers are gold, I believe, but the rest are a huge question mark.

Love Heap and the Bears.

With questions at Quarterback and Running Back and very little depth, you might be in for a roller coaster season.
That's a fair criticism. I don't think I have the best team on paper. I need some injuries on other teams like Lewis, Julius Jones. And I'm counting on Dillon to lose his starting job.

3rd WR is a problem too. Sice I couldn't get a top 5 RB or WR(shoud have taken Fitzgerald rd 2) I wanted a top 3 TE and Top 3 Defense.

Leftwich had 15 TDs in 11 games. And Vick, well he has never lived up to potential and probably never will, but I'll take 6 rushing td's and 18-22 td's.

And i wish we got 6 points for a 60 yard FG cuz they will let my kicker try it. He may be the first K in a long time to punt, KO, and FG in the same game.

That is fun. I already sent one to a guy in one of my main leagues.

You know, I think this year was the worst for wide receiver depth that I can remember. I just couldn't find anyone that I liked past round 4 or 5 in any of my drafts so far.
I'm hedging a lot of my bets on rookie WRs this year compared to past seasons. We'll see how that works out.
Rookie WR almost never pan out. It's the 3rd year WR that explode.

Injuries are also hampering WR depth. Owens and Ward are real iffy. Those are 2 great rd 2 picks that are just too risky which moves everyone else up.
I thought there were a ton of good receivers after round 4 or 5. Just avoid the rook's. Very rarely do they have big numbers.

Speed Freaks Year 2: 5 Wins or Bust

QB: Brady, Green
RB: T. Barber, J. Jones, Moore, T. Bell, Jacobs
WR: Fitzgerald, Galloway, Evans, Edwards, Ferguson
TE: Stevens
K: Graham, Feely
DEF: Miami

Reminder to self: don't forget the draft time next year.

Hence my pickup of Lee Evans. Yes, Losman is no one's idea of a franchise QB, but they've looked good so far...
Suxorcorpses

QB - M. Bulger, J. Plummer
WR - S. Smith, WR H. Ward, Ro. Smith, J. Porter, D. Givens
RB - C. Portis, R. Droughns, C. Benson
TE - C. Cooley, M. Lewis
K - M. Vanderjagt(ass), J. Brown
DEF - New York, Philadelphia

This team is very similar to my other team. Both Auto Drafts.

I agree I'm a little thin, but like SD said, WR is pretty bad this year. I'm hoping that if my RB can stay healthy and produce, I can pull a trade in week three or four for a big name WR.

Ohh, and I have faith in Fred. Mostly because I have five RB on the roster.

Well Jason, you lost Ron Dayne.

I can relate, I lost Dominick Davis.

The running back depth just got weaker.

Looks like Dayne is getting picked up by Houston.
Had my money league draft. Picked 5th and am feeling really good about the team. 3rd WR is still iffy but my division is weak. 6pts rus/rec td, 4 pts passing td, 1pt every 20 yards rush/rec, 1pt every 50 yards pass.

QB-McNabb(7), Brooks(13)
RB-Rudi Johnson(1), K. Jones(4), C. Taylor(5), L Maroney(6), K. Watson(15)
WR-C. Chambers(2), R. Wayne(3), C. Wilson(8), K. Curtis(9), T. Williamson(10)
TE-A. Smith(14)
K-M. Koenen(11)
Def-BALT(12)

I really need Maroney to get the starting job. He's my Larry Johnson. I would have waited a bit but the guys who had Dillon drafted 3rd and they had 2 picks to take him so I grabbed him early, Same spot as LJ last year.

TE is weak too but I should be in the playoffs.

Here's my team from my money league (auction-style draft, keeper league):

QB-Carson Palmer, Jon Kitna, Matt Leinart
RB-Steven Jackson, Julius Jones, Dominic Rhodes, Derrick Blaylock, Michael Pittman
WR/TE (we combine the positions)-Alge Crumpler, Randy McMichael, Lee Evans, Reggie Brown, Dallas Clark, Antonio Bryant
K-Matt Stover
D-Giants

Picked up Leinart for $1 and he's total keeper fodder. Spent a ton on Palmer and Jackson, but I think they'll be worth it. And while my receiving corps is TE heavy, I can't complain about having Crumpler and McMichael.

Or Clark... he can catch just about anything Manning throws at him these days.
From my Salary Cap team:

P. Manning (Ind - QB)
J. Addai (Ind - RB)
L. Tomlinson (SD - RB)
T. Houshmandzadeh (Cin - WR)
R. Wayne (Ind - WR)
M. Muhammad (Chi - WR)
Da. Clark (Ind - TE)
A. Vinatieri (Ind - K)
Carolina (Car - DEF)
Anya, I wouldn't be as confident as you seem to be towards your money pool team. It's not bad or anything but Cedrick Wilson? Can you say reach?
2 10+ TD WR when there aren't that many, a top 5 DEF and K, 3 quality RB, and McNabb-yeah, tons of problems.
No real depth at QB or RB, only one real #1 WR, only one TE from a team whose offense has struggled in the pre-season, and a RB strategy that's based on hoping one of your guys eventually becomes a starter. It's not a bad team, but it's not a playoff lock either.
No depth at RB? I have 3 starters, 1 of which should stand out. Either the Lions or Vikings will contend with the Bears in the NFC central and I have both their running backs.

Sure one true #1 WR but Manning will throw around 10 more td's than any other qb. Wayne is better than most #1's
