Tradition

I am sick of tradition. Tradition is all people know growing up, then they force it on others without thinking about what they're doing or why.

Tradition responsible for 'honour killings', tradition responsible for forcibly marrying off kids, tradition responsible for millions of Muslim women believing God wants them to be slaves to men, tradition that allows the Vatican to fuck brats up the arse and get away with it, tradition responsible for fighting and dying over a piece of land that doesnt give a flying fuck about you because it has no brain its a fucking piece of land, tradition responsible for stuffing your fat fucking necks at the gloriously named 'Thanksgiving' while a turkey, yes a turkey gets pardoned by the President of the USA, tradition responsible for completely irrational acts that serve no purpose, no benefit to anyone or anything, it fucking pisses me off. Tradition is dangerous.

"But cognizant, without tradition we wouldnt have...the Super Bowl!"

FUCK YOU, there's nothing super about the Super Bowl; fucking advert with a sideline of pussies in armour.

Fuck tradition and fuck you whoever you are!

Okay.

You made Topol cry.

Careful. Tradition is what keeps immortals from fighting on holy ground.

Let's hope you don't start one with this thread.

Dennis Miller called. He said you can keep the rant.

I enjoy traditions. It's what seperates me from the untraditional. The dirty, dirty untraditional.

Nation's Punched is almost dead. Wouldn't this have been better served there? Too traditional?

Sometimes you have to vomit words and see whose shoes it splats on...
Swallowing the vomit would be pretty untraditional, though.

Making a vomit Menorah would probably throw that argument into whack as an untraditional way of making something traditional.

I'm sorry if that doesn't make any sense, all I can think about now is Shirley Temple starring in Maniac Cop 3.

Ah, you bastards know what I mean anyway. I'm sitting at a table eating something, the radio's on, I hear depressing news and next thing you know Anderson is thinking of Shirley Temple starring in Maniac Cop 3.

Ya know I down with this, fuck traditions, but this thread in and of itself is a tradition, and so is this post. Shit.

Everyone's focus on semantics and logic in this thread is alarming/encouraging/making me hungry again.

Besides, everytime I post a thread, it has a useful purpose and benefits all of mankind. Unlike the examples of tradition I listed in my torrent of bile above. Dont make me add an exclamation mark to the end of this post.

Bravo! Fuck tradition in its smelly face!
I wonder if people will debate this in the traditional way we've become accustomed to here on CHUD?
What specific way would that be?
I just wanted to know if I should follow this post up with a Dolph Lundgren pic or a snide comment about not paying attention to the Tsotsi thread.
Go the high road. Photoshop of Dolph Lundgren making a snide comment about the unloved Tsotsi thread.
Doing something that has been done before is not inherently bad, but doing something only because it has been done before is almost always a really stupid idea, and generally that's what tradition is, so yeah, fuck tradition.

Dolph, holding a (pirate copy) DVD of Tsotsi, while standing next to Don Cheadle (glumly holding a copy of Hotel Rwanda), giving a cheesy thumbs up with a speech bubble saying "Tradition rocks!" would be spiffy.

I would like to thank everyone that humoured me and kept the snark level to a friendly level, but there is a serious topic floating around. I mean I'm not talking about literal common sense tradition, like wearing clothes when you walk outside, I'm talking about irrational acts that dont benefit anyone and keep humanity back. There is alot of this shit in the world and we need to put a stop to it. Or maybe Superman, but I dont think he'll have the budget this time round...

I felt like ranting because I was listening to this news report about a Scottish lady at a news conference crying while cameras snapped away. Her Pakistani ex-husband found her and their daughter, abducted the daughter and is probably somewhere in Pakistan trying to marry her off or some crazy shit. Just think about this madness, he's only doing it because of tradition. The dude has forsaken his humanity to continue a fucked up custom. People from around the world flock to Mecca in Saudi Arabia every year and throw stones at a bunch of rocks and people die doing this. It doesnt even say to do that in the Quran. GARGH!?!?!

BTW, I only found out about the turkey being pardoned thing yesterday and was not surprised one bit, how fucking typical.

Humans (and most organisms) are creatures of habit... Consume fuel at designated intervals, sleep X% of the day at certain hours, work from sun-up to sun-down. It's easy to see how those habits bleed into other behavioral patterns that are more social/religious/philosophical/psychological...

It's comforting to most people. The majority of the planet do not want to be free thinkers, they want their schedules micro-managed by others (political & religious leaders, bosses, spouses, parents, etc.). Course, without this control, there would be anarchy. Or atleast revolutions. Possibly even freedom-fighters who will break away just to move somewhere else and create their own traditions... because, like I said, it's comforting.

Tradition defines things like home & culture & identity for alot of people.

Unfortunately, hate is traditional as well.

EDIT: to include the obvious
