The Dead Next Door

Finally picked this dvd up recently, there's something about it I just dig. I probably haven't seen the flick in 10 years- glad to see it still holds up well even though some of the jokes are pretty lame now. It's hard to remember a time when it was funny to have all your characters named after horror directors cause it's been done in every goddamn movie of the last 20 years. The effects still work great though- especially the zombie digesting the finger gag.

The blurb on the back mentioned that an unknown director produced it- I never knew that it was Sam Raimi.... helping out with some of his profits from Evil Dead 2. Makes sense, since Bruce Campbell does a couple voiceovers.

Anyway. Just a great little film- really impressive collection of extras on this dvd too. Anyone own it?

I don't own it but I did rent it years and years ago on VHS (early 90s). It was filmed almost locally (in Ohio I believe) and I knew Raimi was somehow involved. I didn't care for it much then though the box art is top notch - one of the best.

Shot in my hometown, the football psychotic village of Mogadore, Ohio, which is also the Klan capital of the Northeastern Ohio area.

Never seen it, but it was a very big thing when I was in middle school. Apparently some of the guys who were in it are still around.

I saw this up at Best Buy for like $5.99, it's been long while since I seen it. I might pick it up next time I go there.
