DeathSurge, I was tempted to do that, but that would have taken too much effort and not much payoff. The fact that you all are in a tizzy about this is exactly wahy I did it -- to fuck with everyone's source of amusement. Plus, I was bored on Thanksgiving and it passed the time. And there's no irony in my actions. I think the olivemarie thread is funnier because of the missing posts.

There have been a few that have tried to push marthyms to a meltdown, but so far, it has been an unsuccessful attempt. We'll keep chugging along though.

I certainly wasn't in a "Tizzy". Someone mentioned it in a late post to the "Arrested" thread, so I bet myself my next Scotch that you hit the Royale thread as well.

I just find it sad that you would go to the trouble. I've got several intoxicated arguments floating about here I'd rather see vanish than mar my normally scintillating conversational skills, but leave them alone as an educational reminder to myself. And hell, if someone gets a chuckle out of one, fantastic.

Editing the past is purely self-centered egotism at work.

Seriously, if I would have experienced this much embarrassment at this point, I would not even come around here anymore. I've had my share of pwnage in this place, but, damn.

I, for one, cannot understand people who actually do not feel embarrassment from time to time. It's the sort of thing that should keep you in check, but that part of the brain seems to be broken on some people. Then again, if you've edited all your posts, you must be a little embarrassed about them, but why risk further ridicule by editing in the first place? Boggles the fucking mind.

I don't think Diva should have gone back and deleted those threads (for someone with a 15,000+ post count, you are bound to have a few threads where you lose it - plus what she said wasn't that bad, just a little silly), but I do feel kinds bad for her right now. She was just trying to get rid of something that embarrassed her and everyone else is bringing it right back to the forefront.

I don't have any issue with Diva, either. Arguments happen on the boards, and I've disagreed with her before, but I don't search it out like some people do. That said, editing your posts like she did is one of the few things you can do to get immediately banned. I don't think she should, as her tenure gives her leeway in this situation, but it's a pretty rotten thing to do.

The fact that every dumb and embarrassing thing you say is preserved for future generations to laugh at is one of the best things about internet message boards. As long as you have a sense of humor about it.

Look at Fabfunk. He's been pretty well-behaved in terms of gross sex stuff. He contributes to conversations. But when someone tries to bring him down a peg with a necro joke, he takes it in good fun. That's the way to go.
