Has anyone found this yet? I ordered it on Deepdiscount DVD and it was put on backorder. I also noticed that Amazon has it in their store but THey are selling it. Any luck anyone?

I know that both Circuit City and Best Buy are going to be carrying LIMITED stock, meaning get there early. I'm not even sure the number each store has, but I know it's going to be exactly like the MUNICH LE all over again - high demand, little stock.

You might want to try Barnesandnoble.com as well (if money is of no importance) and any other site, like outpost.com, dvdempire.com, etc. etc.

Hopefully you'll snag a copy before those bastards on ebay and amazon's seller section jack up the prices.

My local Best Buy supposedly has some in stock, and I'm hoping to grab a copy after work today. I was able to get the Munich SE at the same store the day it came out, although the salesperson had to go rummaging through the stockroom to find it. The SE is the only reason I'm buying this DVD. It's an incredible film, but I'm not ready to watch it again yet. It's the features I'm most interested in.

Yeah I am going to Circuit City at 4 and see as that is my lunch time at work. Hopefully they have it and I can just cancel my order with Deep Discount. Universal did this with both Munich and Jarhead and now this. Why? I really hope that Circuit CIty has it. We'll see though.
If you really want it bad, I'd suggest calling ahead. That way they can hold it for you and if they don't have it, at least you've saved yourself a trip.

I think, but don't quote me on it, that you can check the store's stock right from your computer and then do store pickup. At least at Circuit City you can.
Yeah, Best Buy does it as well. That's what I did -- hopefully it'll actually be there to pick up in a couple of hours when I show up!

How long do Limited Editions last? A week?
I really hate this new trend of putting together a great package with decent coverart for once, real extras and commentaries, put only making it available for two weeks. Not everyone who wants those editions have $35 to shell out to get the good version in its first 24 hours of release.

I am allready going there to pick up LOST so I just figured I would look. I already ordered it from deepdiscountdvd.com but it's backordered.

Yeah, it's extremely lame, and doesn't even make good business sense.

BUT...One benefit of being out of school and gainfully employed is that I've got the 35 bucks!

J&R in NYC had a bunch in store, and you can order online, $22.99:

I snagged mine yesterday at the local Best Buy. They had probably a dozen of them out on the shelf, which was kind of surprising given my experience with the "Munich" SE. And it was only sale for only 22 bucks! Only 5 bucks more than the regular edition was going for, which was nice.

Or does it? We all know the studios aren't happy about the heavy discounting DVDs suffer these days. This way they can prevent consumers from waiting a year or two until the set is retailing for $8 at Walmart.

I didn't think many people would buy this film, but maybe I'm wrong. Way too dark for me to watch mulitple times.

I don't go to school and am gainfully employed, and I still don't have the $35 ;_;

Although if there are any left I do plan on purchasing this weekend along with Brick.

And Desslar? It is Dark, and not a flick I think would get a LOT of spins, but I think it'd be worth having on hand - a flick like that would probably be therapeutic every few months or so.

So my disc is still on backorder. I am wondering if I should just cancel my order. I have a suspicion tht they will never get it in. So do you guys think I should cancel it? So now I noticed it's not even on their site anymore for order. I guess I should cancel and buy somewhere else.

With some flipping through the racks at Best Buy, I managed to scoop up a 2-disc. I haven't cracked it open yet; will do so tonight.

But man was it like pulling teeth trying to get the people at Best Buy to help me in any serious nature. "Here's the one disc." "No, that's not it. That's the single disc widescreen. The website says you have it." "The website is often wrong." "Then why offer to buy it and pick it up online?" "Let me check with a manager." "Okay." "No, it's not in stock." "How can that be when I'M HOLDING IT RIGHT IN MY FUCKING HAND?" "...the website is often wrongbzzrrrbbbzbbbzbbb ABORTABORTABORT" EXPLODES IN SHARDS OF METAL AND IRONY.

If you can find this at a Circuit City, you can get it for $19.99. Unfortunately, my Circuit City is one of the worst in the country. It's about half the size of every other Circuit City that I have been to, and they never get a good selection of new releases. For example, no District B13 this week.

hahahaha

Thanks for that, Nordling! That about how I feel everytime I go there...

I called my local Best Buy, Circuit City and Barnes & Noble and none of them had it (and I found out my local B&N has no movie section).

I actually went by Best Buy and talked with one of the ladies stocking the shelves who worked for a video distributor and she was kind enough to look it up in the computer, but no nice.

I called a friend in Greenville and he said he ended up purchasing the single disc edition at the Best Buy there, as they had a few 2-disc sets, but the box sleeve was damaged.

I finally came home and ordered a copy of it through the Amazon Marketplace from a vendor in Florida. The price was $28.24 including shipping. Based on the previous reviews, this vendor has a good reputation, so hopefully I will receive it in the next week or so.

I've never had trouble with those Amazon vendors. I finally ordered it through that link above http://www.jr.com/JRProductPage.process?Product=4122554 They shipped it today. I just hope it's the 2 disc, I'm sure it is. I will let you guys know if it is. Yeah a couple of Best Buys here say they have it but I don't ever trust them. Best Buy once said they had that 2 disc Jarhead there and guess what, it wasn't there. Also this has nothing to do with the thread but Best Buy told me they will not carry that Apocolypse Now 2 disc set. I thought that was weird.
I actually managed to score the last copy of the 2 disc set at a Best Buy. I was feeling very good about this, until I opened the case and realized that the 2nd disc consisted only of one hour-long documentary. Granted, it was a very [I]good[I] documentary on the actual military and civilian air traffic control people and how they dealt with the attacks, but I couldn't help but feel a little cheated that I went out of my way to find this edition, and paid extra for what amounts to only 60 minutes of extra material.

I'm still sucker-punched by the film, and am more than happy to add it to my library. I just wish Universal hadn't pulled a cheap marketing ploy here, because this release deserves better.
I ordered the two-disc Limited Edition from Amazon months ago and it only just shipped on Thursday. I've seen the two-disc release in a few different stores, even as "late" as yesterday, each time cursing that I should have just bought it on street date. Unlike MUNICH, this Limited Edition has been much easier to find. I just hate the wait. Thanks, Amazon!
Amazon must have only been selling a limited number of copies, as it hasn't been available for regular purchase since the day of release and the cheapest current Marketplace vendor is asking $45.99.

My copy, which I ordered through an AM vendor on release day has yet to even ship. When I emailed them about this, they replied "we are experiencing a difficulty in fulfilling your order."

I almost felt like writing back, "Don't advertise something for sale if you don't have it stock."
For those interested, Target.com says they have it here and that it's not back-ordered.

The total with tax for 3-5 day shipping is 33.96.

Well, after reading this, I decided to cancel my 2-disc order and just rent the supplemental disc from Netflix. I imagine I will pick up the regular DVD later this week.
It's a nice doc, and quite worth checking out, but I'm glad I paid $19.99 for it.
I'm glad I got the 2-disc set for completion's sake but the CHASING PLANES doc ain't exactly must-have material. It's a fairly basic recap of the events depicted in the film and more recently on Tom Brokaw's superior 9/11 retrospective. It does boast some interesting interviews though. I'm glad I have it but I'm also glad I didn't get gouged on eBay for it.

By the way, I never saw UNITED 93 in theaters, a fact which I now deeply regret. I saw the film for the first time this weekend and I found it to be profoundly effective, powerful and deeply poignant. Like others, I couldn't breathe during the film's final moments and I found myself crying out of both sadness and pride.

Everyone should see this film.

It's worth watching. Ben Sliney comes across as even more of a mensch than he does in the movie, if that's possible.

I found the 2 disc set at Best Buy, and bought it yesterday. I hadn't seen the movie, but I had heard so many good things about it. It's a really powerful movie, and one of the best this year.
