As soon as I posted it, I recalled the Reggie Bush scenario. He, Eli Manning, and Elway are the only three examples I can think of where a player's contractual demands made a noticeable change in draft order. It seems to be par for the course for baseball, with multiple players being avoided like the plague due to perceived contractual demands.

Post-draft, however, NFL players are far more vital to their team's immediate future than MLB players, thus making hold-outs far more damaging.

So Wade Phillips is coaching the Cowboys. What an uninspiring choice. He gets his third shot at a HC job even though he's never won a playoff game. he was .500 in 2 years in Denver and some success in Buffalo.

Rumors say Norv Turner would have got the job and brought Ron Rivera as def co. but JJ didn't want to switch to a 4-3. Turner has even a worse record as HC.

I guess he must want Jason Garrett as HC in a year or two and chose a retread.

It's not just Jones not wanting to switch, it's the fact their all their defensive personnel were picked for the 3-4.

I get the feeling Phillips is a place-holder until either Jones thinks Garrett is ready or Bill Cowart decides he wants to coach again.

Phillips is competent but uninspiring.

I really think Jones has him keeping the seat warm for somebody else - which is sad, Phillips deserves better than that.

I really think Wade Phillips/Jason Garrett will end up being a split head coach thing when it all comes down to it.

I wanted Norm Chow and they never even talked to the guy.
