Here is a DVD I never thought I would see

I may have to rent this just to see if it as bad as I remember it.

Oh, it is. It's not without its charms, but it's a pretty hollow attempt to recreate the magic of Rocky Horror. Proof yet again that you can't manufacture a cult classic.

It's reared it's ugly head on cable lately. I couldn't watch more than 5 minutes without becomming physically ill.

To it's credit though, it remains better than "The Phantom of the Paradise". I wince just typing that name.

Wow.

I love this movie and The Phantom of the Paradise, though I'd say I enjoy Shock Treatment more. Maybe I'm just susceptible to cult rock musicals.

I thought I had seen that, but I just realized that I was thinking of "Future Kill" which was marketed as bringing the stars of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre back together.

I would say it sucked, too, but I really can't remember a thing about it. Except I saw it in the theatre and perhaps the movie poster was a tad misleading!!

Heresy. Phantom of the Paradise is classic.

Phantom of Paradise is pretty damn cool. Shock Treatment is awful. I know it has it's fans, but it's just a big mess, with none of the charm of Rocky Horror (and I know most people despise RHPS, but whatever, I think it's an enjoyable flick). RHPS has something like 12 songs, all of which are memorable, and many of which are (to me, anyway) pretty great. Shock Treatment has about 40 songs, and there's maybe 3 that I can even remember.

I do think it's pretty cool that they got the presidents of the Shock Treatment Fanclub to do a commentary track, though.

I can't seem to find this DVD anywhere outside of E-tailers. Has anyone had any luck finding it at their local stores?

At no time can I ever stand Paul Williams on-screen unless he's wearing the same suit as Pat McCormick.

Before Snakes On A Plane there was Shock Treatment.

Virgil, Orangutan War Councilor?

I'm sure Pat McCormick has worn a monkey suit at one time or another.

My circuit city had it for 12.99......Why I bought it i'll never know.
Well, that sucks. If my Circuit City runs out of something, it's a year before they get it back in. It doesn't matter if it's popular or collects dust on the shelves. A solid year.

But, the customer service at our local Best Buy sucks. I'll brave it to go find a copy of this.

I have to join in the the Phantom of the Paradise making me ill watching it club. I never understood the love for this film. But then again, I hated RHPC also, and can't stand cult rock musicals.

Finally sat down and watched it tonight.

It's not great but it's actually not the complete trainwreck I remember it to be....For someone like me who detests todays oversaturation of reality TV I found it to be a funny satire of it(Even more funny that this was made in the early 80's).

I didn't realize that Rik Mayall had a part in this movie.

To me the most shocking(pun intended) thing was that I thought the music in Shock Treatment was better than RHPS(except for Time Warp and Sweet Transvestite).

The special features are minor....a short documentary about the making of the movie a one dealing with the music......Overall it wasn't a waste of 13 bucks.

Any movie where Jessica Harper wears that black dress is okay with me. They even sing an entire song about it.

The Lullaby song on their was worth price of admission for me, I love that tune. Overall, the movie itself often seemed to be odd for the sake of being odd, which to me can get annoying. I know waaaaaay too much of it, as I'm friends with a guy who is a big Richard O'Brien fan.

How dare you sully the name of the Honky Tonk piano player of the El Sleazo. The guy wrote the music for Emmet Otter's Jugband Christmas, for Chrissakes.

I've never seen Rocky Horror Picture Show, or Shock Treatment, but I totally love Phantom Of The Paradise. I even have the soundtrack. I've been curious aobut RHPS and Shock Treatment, and I like Jessica Harper, so I'll have to give them a rent.

Yeah the Lullaby song is definatly the highlight of the film(although brief). "Bitchin in the Kitchen" and the title song are pretty good and while it's annoying, The Denton song has it's moments.

The whole "odd for the sake of being odd" statement rings true as well....Other than Brad and Janet everyone is just so wacky that it becomes overbearing.

I also have the love for Jessica Harper.....I really don't remember seeing her in much after "My Favorite year" and "It's Garry Shandling's show"....I looked up some info on her and found out that lately she's been recording Chlidern's music.....Probably explains why she wasn't in the DVD documentary.

Now wait a minute, that's NOT Peter Weller on the cover?

Wow, that cover is awsome!

She has a pivotal cameo in Minority Report.

She's the murder victim in Agatha's pre-cog vision that Cruise investigates that eventually reveals the real villain of the movie.
