Problems with Gojira DVD?

Anyone else having problems getting the english subtitles to work? I've tried everything with my remote and they stay off. Also have a problem with the special features. When I choose to play the audio commentary it works fine yet I cannot turn it off and have to shut down my player to get it back to default settings.

I've never had this problem with other DVD's.

On which disc? Nothing's going wrong on the first disc for me, but I still haven't watched the second.

I am having problems with the first disc while the 2nd one works fine.

Yeah, I've got no problems with the first disc.
The subtitles on this disc are a lot better than the ones on "The Quiet Duel", which I also got within the last week or two.

The only problem I've been having is finding the damn thing.

I've only gotten through the first disc, but I haven't had any problems so far.

Target had it for $14.99 last week. They might still have it on the cheapside.

What are you playing it on - make and age, please?

I've had no problems w/ the subs on my old Toshiba.

Love this disc. I originally Netflixed it, and dug the commentary so much I bought the set over the weekend (it was $12.99 at Costco).

I have a Sylvania combo (DVD/VCR) that is less than 2 years old. It has been my primary player for the last 6 months. I hit the select button on the remote and it jumps directly from Subtitles Off to main menu option.

I was wondering if getting a cleaner for it might help?

You might just have a bad DVD. If it keeps up, see if you get it exchanged for a new copy.

Works A-OK for me. Only minor problem is that the yellow subtitles are sometimes hard to read against the black & white film, but that's just quibbling. Love the set.

Nope, a cleaner won't help. Unfortunately those combos are buggy.
Take the disc back and get a new one, but you may have the same problem. Its an authoring vs. hardware problem.

I haven't had any problems with either disc. Showed both discs tonight for Monster movie night for some friends on the big screen. Hands down the original with sub-titles was the winner. They were amazed at how good it was! Definitely a worthy addition to your collection!

Mine works fine.
One thing that further indicates it might be just a damaged DVD: My version defaults to English subtitles on Disc one. You don't have to turn them on. I again day exchange it.
