Black Sheep!

Hopefully catch this tomorrow.
It's pretty funny, with a lot of gore, and the practical stuff looks great -- really recalls Dead Alive. When I get out of my backlog of stuff to write, I'll have a rev on Chud with the rest of my festival stuff.

3 things:

1. Can't wait to see it.
2. Seems very Jackson-inspired... even a zombie lamb (looks like a cross between DA's baby zombie & the rat-monkey).
3. That Kiwie Anchorwoman is hot.
Hard to be skeptical. We've got sheep, people.

Can there be a Killer Goat crossover or something? That's the movie I wanna see.
I'll see any film that WETA does effects for, especially when it's something that seems like it's channeling Jackson's early work.
Did'nt Monty Python do a sketch about killer sheep?
See, I think this is the movie that should have had Snakes on a Plane's expectations attached to it.
I have some hopes t'will be genuinely entertaining.

I'd be skeptical if that didn't make you hard.

Black Sheep

Just checked the trailer for this new-zealand made killer sheep movie, and it looks like a pretty wicked horror-comedy. Anybody seen it or heard anything about it, good or bad? Also, a big selling point seems to be that WETA did the effects. Don't know why, I just found that funny.

Check the trailer out here: http://www.apple.com/trailers/indepe...sheep/trailer/

I was just about to post on this. The trailer is hysterical, especially the bit with the mint sauce.

And I can just imagine Stephen Regelous (creator of MASSIVE) face when asked to use his program to animate sheep: "I'm sorry, you want to animate what?"

Yeah, I've been waiting for this one for a while.

Edit- merging the threads...
It's the best trailer of the year, if not of all time!
The title might confuse people with the Chris Farley movie.

It seems as if we have been waiting forever for this one. Thanks for the clip, Alex!
I've had my eye on this film since Creature Corner first mentioned it.

Clip's welcome, anyway.

Saw it on IFC In Theaters On Demand. I guess anyone with digital cable has this service. Day and Date releases of independant films Pay Per View style. I paid 5.99 about two bucks cheaper than a theater ticket.

Just a great under the radar horror comedy.

Russ (or anyone, for that matter), do you know if this is playing anywhere even near Atlanta?
I'll have to check it out on PPV. Still in the new parent 90-day containment period, and my only option for going out to movies is the drive-in. Should be fun for the whole family.

The Plaza, starting 7/27.
Just watched it, what a fun horror movie. Not hilarious, but a lot of great gore and effects toward the end. It's a real neat creature feature... I'd actually buy it before I'd buy Behind the Mask.
I tried to convince some of my friends to watch this with me. They laughed. Who's going to be laughing when zombie-sheep enslave man?

Well, I suppose the sheep will.

And still no UK release.
I finally saw this tonight and can definitely see the parallels to Jackson's earlier movies. It's clear they had a lot of fun making this, and Richard Weta's work is superb. Very funny, gross, excellent nature-strikes-back film!
I watched a trailer for this in a theater a few months ago. Still no news of a release date and no sign of a DVD here in Greece.

Just to let people know, zombie squirrels seems to be the most popular choice, by a large margin.
Zombie Squirrels are too small. I'd go for Zombie Kangaroos attacking people trapped in the outback, with the killer from "Wolf Creek" tossed in for added tension.

Well they're all saying that they're everywhere, so they'd be a good choice. Swarm of zombie squirrels would be pretty creepy, with their little beady eyes.

Weirdest choice so far- flamingos.
I won't enter the competition but I will say that I'd go for clams, I mean you tell if they're alive or dead by cooking them, there's something inherently creepy about that. and how would a zombie clam fit with that test? The questions it brings up would be profound, the answers unsettling.
Zombie chickens. Who knows what those crazed fuckers would be capable of. Plus, ever try shooting the brain of a moving chicken? Believe me it's not easy.
The Zombie Flamingo idea has merit. You can have them find the pecked to death corpses of Alligators early in the film, and then have them pretend to be lawn ornaments that attack when you walk past ignoring them.

I also like the idea of the burned up Shark from "Jaws 2" for the Zombie lead of "Jaws 5: We're Completely Out of Ideas"

Already been done in Poultrygeist
The flamingo also has the fact that their coloring changes depending on what they eat. You could have a horrified little girl scream "That flamingo's the same color as my mommy" fucking heartbreaking.
I certainly hope we see the most outrageous (and/or best) entries when this is all said and done.

Yeah, but if you got working on it right now it's definitely possible to write, produce, direct, and distribute a chicken zombie movie before Poultrygeist ever hits dvd.

Darkmite- definitely. I'll write up a list of all the best.
Zombie Chicken
Starring Michael Richards and Zombie Kenny Rogers
"Mess you up, man!"
Seems the UK finally gets this film come October 19th.
