How fantastic is this movie? It's creepy as hell.

Blast from the Past. Haven't seen this one since the mid-90s. I'm somewhat amazed that Alfred Sole didn't really do much after this, which IMDB points out is his sophomore effort. My memory's a bit hazy, but in retrospect, the film really reminds me of a low-key Argento-style giallo... made by an American. That might be because of the mood or maybe just the blatant anti-Catholicism, I'm not quite sure. Not a masterpiece by any means, but it's definitely deeper than your average slasher flick.

I was just reminded of this movie in an upcoming doc on Slasher films Starz is putting out next month. They do a little piece on this underrated film.

Great, great stuff. I completely forgot that a young Brooke Shields is in it.

Ebert is a big fan of this film, or at least he was when it came out.

This is one of the best films of all time in my opinion! Why is it so obscure? There is a scene where the police lab has develoepd the murder photos and they fade out and cut back at one story higher, then another story higher, etc. Totally creepy! And that rock smash to the teeth! Wow... This is a GREAT murder mystery. CAN YOU FIGURE OUT WHO THE KILLER IS? If you can, my hat is off to you... Seriously, rent this gem...

The enormous fat guy is the crepiest part of it for me. . .
