Just saw the specs on DVDactive and it makes me feel so good after passing on the initial release. Great cover, which is becoming more rare these days

Gargh, just when I thought the Vengeance Boxset had the best version for English speaking people this comes along in a 3 disc set!? Wonder what this has that beats the current region 2? The 212 minute video diary?

It also comes w/ Vol. 1 of the original manga (recently released in English by Dark Horse comics), which is a cool little bonus.

If the final specs of the bonus features reveal it to include Park's short film JUDGMENT and the award-winning short MEMORIES OF OLDBOY (which were both previously only available on the overpriced R3 Ultimate Edition DVD), then this will be my first official triple-dip title.

While I dig the container, I actually kind of like the original DVD cover a little more.

Kind of annoying since I have the movie and the manga already, but of course I can't pass this up. The first volume of the manga didn't have nearly the amount of complexity as the movie, and really wasn't all that great. I wonder if it gets any better.

As much as I do want this, I think I'm done double-dipping(with the exception of next year's super duper Blade Runner set).

I liked the last DVD cover art better as well, but this looks like a justifiable double-dip to me.

This is a DVD I am going to get sight unseen.

I have the original release, and as soon as I saw this one, I knew that I was going to have to buy it, I like the original cover art as well, but I still dig this new one. It seems that all it's missing is the soundtrack to the film ala the 3 disc Suspiria set.

On the subject of the Vengeance trilogy, when does Sympathy For Lady Vengeance aka Lady Vengeance come out in region 1?
Lady Vengeance arrives on Region 1 DVD on 9/26.

After checking Play.com, dvdcompare.net and dvdtimes.co.uk it appears that the only difference between this copy of Oldboy and the R2 included in the Vengeance Trilogy Boxset is that this one has:

Quote:
an exclusive film cell from the 35mm reel and the first volume of the Old Boy graphic novel on which the film is based
And of course a different looking cover.

Guess I'm still getting the Vengeance Boxset then. Although I dont think the boxset Oldboy will have the 'Memory Of Old Boy' short film but I can live without it.

Didn't Harry Knowles do a commentary for one of the releases? According to dvdbeaver it's to the Starmax Ultimate edition. I'm surprised they don't throw that one there as well.
