Let me introduce myself real quick. My name is Kevin Van Natter and I just started writing for Creature Corner. I'm excited to finally get going on the message boards and I hope that my articles are interesting enough to get some conversations generated. I think this is a good article to introduce myself with because I think it shows where I'm coming from as far as horror movies go. Its really cool to be a part of this community.

If you read the article, you might have an idea about how I feel about some of the movies that are passing for horror movies these days, what do you guys think about what going on with the Chainsaw Awards? Who's getting your votes? IS JARED LETO REALLY THAT COOL?

Shill!

Just kidding, welcome aboard. I'm not as big a horror guy as some of the people here, but I'm getting more into the genre recently. I'd like to see the Corner reclaim what many have referred to as it's "former glory", and more writers will certainly help.

As for the awards themselves, it seems almost a wonder that films like Slither even got nominated. Almost all awards shows end up being popularity contests. In some ways they have to be, just to get ratings. Still though, films like Slither and Devils Rejects deserve honors far more than stuff like KONG. Considering it's on FUSE, Devil's Rejects might do really well. I'm not sure about Slither though. Still, if it loses the body count category, something is flawed. The category shouldn't even be open for a vote, actually. Just give the film with the highest body count a special award, straight off the bat, but still give it the same attention as the other awards(okay, MORE than the silly music video one).

liked the article, i wish there was more about the inherent silliness of the music categories. as a horror fan i do actually also have good taste in music and to be blunt all the music represented is terrible, and further more has very little to do with actual horror films (was there a best score cat.? i can't remember). know that i did vote, although with my conscience not james gunns pleas (nothing against him).

also, what does highest body count mean anyways? it certainly doesn't speak to the quality of a film, and how can it even be up for vote (although maybe that is why it should be voted on, the most memorable deaths should be counted over quantity anyways).

Personally, I like Coheed and Cambria. They've got the whole sci-fi thing going on and their comics are somewhat dark. Yet they lack eye makeup so there ya go, I guess. Its wierd how they came close to being caught up in the mainstream for a split second but faded with all the fall out boy and afi crap. The body count thing is just wierd because you're right, the highest count wouldnt always deserve an award for anything even if it did have the highest body count just because its such a piece of crap. Yet, the award seems to fit an award show like this. Maybe they hsould change it to "Killer Body Count" or something. King Kong, he what? accidentally smashed some people walking around...but in slither's case...big explosions shouldn't really count...thats cheap.

Saying that those bands all look and sound alike makes me sound old. Fuck.
