only families of the group that knew about the attack. The black dude is part of some group that had knowledge before hand.

Why would he have knowledge? Did he turn against the country?

Just throwing stuff out there. Not expecting the truth, just people's thoughts.
well the dying guy said he had to go back, because he couldnt let those people die, i think?

And, "only families?" that's fairly ambiguous. How do you make anything of it? I can't imagine any scenario that really makes sense.

We know he uses his computer to set up stuff. We know he's hidden something behind a wall. We know he has completely fabricated his families backstory. We know he wasn't around, and the mom worked to support them. But that dying guy also said there's a traitor, and the dude reiterated it on his computer to someone.

So my guess is he was some countries (maybe us, maybe not) former military or something (thus why he feels comfortable faking as an officer), went to prison for some heinous deed, perhaps in the line of duty, and now that he's out he and his group are striking back, or perhaps staging a veiled coup.

They could also be looking to incite action against another country, but I doubt anyone would go to such extreme measures to provoke a response. I think even my above theory seems too extreme. Its hard to rationalize 20 nukes no matter what.
Just read on AICN that this got a full season pick up. I was under the impression it wasn't doing so well.

At least we'll figure out what the black guy (anyone remember his name?) is up to.

Thought the last episode was really good and that it had some type of direction.
Wow. I haven't seen the last two episodes, and all of a sudden the show seems to have taken a more interesting turn.

Hmm... with my understand of the EAS and how most stations have it hooked up, it would be very difficult for the government to take control of all of the channels and broadcast that very cleaned up EAS graphic.

With all of the blundering with disasters lately, I just don't see things running this smoothly on the governments end.
Welcome to Plot Convenience Playhouse. They have power, but nobody can use the internet and phone and TV thanks to the EAS.

Except for the covert anti-terrorist pool boy, of course.
The big question is why was there a camera at what looked like a goverment press conference and then missles.

Also my wife and I were talking about this. How far can the land based missles (lets assume its nuclear for now) go (I assume for show plot purposes they can go anywhere, but anyone know in a reality how far they could go?).

Also why is the son not telling his dad "You know that new guy knows somethig.
I missed all the big season openers, but caught Jericho on http://cbs.com/innertube I think the show has promise... despite the slow start. I kind feel the same way about The Nine... anyway, the Jericho got picked up for the rest of the season, so I'm not the only one that likes it.
I was discussing with some friends about this show, and we came up with some scenarios as for what's happening outside.

It could be a military coup. Somebody uses homebased nuke attacks to destabilize the country to take emergency powers. Then uses them to do what they want, like launching nukes at enemies.

The missiles coming out at the end of the last episode are nuclear. Unless I'm gravely misinformed, you don't launch conventional-charged ballistic missiles from the mainland.

I have the feeling that Hawkins may not the bad guy here. Maybe somebody who caught wind of what's was going to happen. Or, more simply, one of the conspirators.

And I'm still waiting for Mad Max to roll intown.
Thought it was the best and most solid episode this season, bringing some things together.

Loved the surprise on his brothers face when he saw the divorce papers from his wife!
Not the greatest episode tonight.

First off "that picture doesn't have me in it, it will bring too many questions". What paranoid spy school was that guy in? It must be hard to make a meal for that guy "you making scambled eggs, great you blew my cover"

Second, the daughter just figured out her dad is some sort of spy, why did she think she needed different cover stories anyway?

Third, a nickpit I know "I'm not pressing charges", can someone teach basic law to writers please! It would of been a little better for the line to be "they can't gets lawyers dumbass!" or something like that would of worked better.

Now a good thing. We all wondered about the train and how that kid brought the supplies there, ends up the writers decided to write in a explanation. Good job writers.
I was nitpicking the fact that the cop didn't have a warrant so you're not the only one guilty of nitpicking. Also there were some bad edits tonight, like the brother and sister talking near the tractor and the IRS agent magically appearing next to them when in the shot before there was nobody on the road. Seems like they rushed the episode or something. Still it has me interested so I can overlook this stuff for now.
I was into it until they did the whole "2 weeks later" stuff. Maybe because I read apolcalyptic fiction a little too much, but the way people in the town are acting after two weeks of no power is unrealistic. We should already have the militia moving in, cannibals in the streets, etc. by now. Come on! Show me something!
This was definitely a character building episode, with very little learned about what is happening to the outside world.

Some notes: Market woman telling corn dude that she wants 50% of the crop, since she's the only one to sell it? Like she didnt think that he could throw it in the back of his pickup and sell it on the side of a road? Also, the trading of the rolex for the boys to steal the pesticide? I'm sure the market woman would have taken the deal, why bother paying kids to steal it. Thought that was dumb.

Dont understand how husks can stop "fallout." Don't the roots take water from soil that gets wet from fallout?

The daughter asking if he is some sort of spy? Hello, what do you think he's doing?

Interesting comment. Daughter saw the computer screen that showed Skeet as an agent or something, then daughter asked dad in the cornfield if he was a good guy and he said "there isnt such a thing."

We did learn that he knew about the impending nuclear explosions.
We did learn from looking at his map that there arent that many cities that were hit.
We did learn that with the end of the world feared, a lot of people spend their time bitching and moaning in the police office.
We did learn that the missiles fired could have been either sent at us or them. So something is going on in the states.

Sorry I didnt use names of the characters, since i have no idea what they are.

I thought I was the only one who didn't know them. It seems like they hardly use them except for Jake. Kind of strange, since most shows drum home names to kind of get you attached to the characters.
This show DOES do that. But they're pretty forgettable names.

Hawkins, Dale, Heather, April, Eric, Mary, Mayor Green, Jake, etc etc etc.
Well I stand corrected, but it seems as though I don't notice them saying the names. Maybe it is because of the bland names that I don't remember them. Or it could be the lackluster character development(in my feeble opinion anyway.)
Yeah last episode I noticed they used the names excessively, and with good reason, I think, because I still don't know anyone except for jake green.

So I was fairly disappointed with the last episode. It felt like filler, and the more this show goes on, the more I'm thinking it doesn't have legs. Maybe they're waiting on the sweeps to turn the show on its head, but as of now, its pretty repetitive and unexciting.
I'm waiting for the "startling revelation" that Jake is involved in some way. Of course everyone will go, "umm, duh?" I'm with you guys in that this show is starting to be all fluff and no substance. Also I would have slapped that old grocery store lady for asking for half of the crop(if I was a lady.)
cWAP.
I always get angry when the IRS lady pushes her government status around like it means anything. Why hasn't the farmer guy just smacked her around already?

That was kind of the point of last night's episode.
Or, more to the point, why hasn't the farmer guy hit that yet.
yawn. Good spots, but overall I'm still losing interest.

Although I will say that young girl with parents in NYC is kinda hot. I felt dirty, so I looked her up on IMDB, and she's 24-- so I feel less bad about it.

I gotta agree, that it's starting to slow a bit too much. I realize the point of the show is about how this small town reacts to "a situation" of epic scale - but the in town stories have to a be a little better.

I'm not sold on Jonas (sp?) and his survioralists on the outskirst of town being the baddies for the season. Also, the shop owner lady is just downright annoying. How selfish can one person be. I just don't but that part.

I did like Gray coming back, but I don't think he is on the up and up. But his story about beating the guy dead for a few cases of water, struck me as what might really happen. Plus, he wanted to start looking into new townsfolk.

Next week looks cool, with the brothers going up against some sort of Red Dawn faction in a drugstore.
Gray's gonna try to declare martial law in Jericho in a couple of weeks. He's just got that whole budding warlord mentality to him.
I got a feeling that the shopkeeper has a story to tell. I wonder how she knows what the rich kids are like (got a feeling she was that girl 50 years ago).
i absolutely love this show, definitely watch it every week on my cbs innertube station on my computer, that thing is a lifesaver! www.cbs.com/innertube

oh and yeah i'm interested to see what the deal w/ the shopkeeper is because she was super sketchy about the jewlery box this week

D.B. Sweeny bitches...

Man he ages well .... Did I just say that?

I've been watching him since he hooked up with Moira Kelly. And had Strange Luck.

Anything important???!! Mother fucking D.B. Sweeny is coming to Jericho to kick him some Johnny Depp look alike ass!

Actually, here is my two cents recap (if you haven't seen it - read at own risk):

Green brothers go to far away town to get medicine. Find hospital. In hospital, they find doctor and rogue soldier. Turns our rogue soldier is part of a bigger group of rogue soldiers who have kinda gone cuckoo since bombs dropped. Green brothers hatch a plan, trick rogue, cuckoo soldiers, get medicine and doctor to go back to Jericho (and 1st rogue soldier - who is nice guy - tries to kill all the cuckoo soldiers but apparently fails).. then whoops.... Green brother with beard and two women back in town (who other Green brother knows about and they share a moment, aww...) leaves wallet and rogue soldiers (led by mother fucking D.B. Sweeny) find it and are coming to town next week.

Meanwhile, back at the farm... Gray goes all town leader and interrogates black guy with secrets' family. After much huffing and puffing and racism accusations, Gray find wallet which says that black guy with secrets is some working in the high up of the government. Black guy with secrets take controls of the situation, and Gray now thinks he has some high up in the government in town and that's good thing. But is he right?!

Major Dad keeps dying, women folk cry and share stories and make dry ice. Doctor and Green brothers get back with medicine an end of show, give it to Major Dad, and we have to wait and see if he is still Major Dad or if he is Major Dead....

Tune in next week!

I'm definitely not watching this as much any more. Isn't it going on a break soon?

Yeah, couple more weeks, then it gets LOST on us (get it?? I know it's lame) and disappears till February.
Ok, serious question.

Where have I've seen the doctor before. I'm thinking 24 but I can't put a name to the face.

Anyone know?
indian guy or the chick from jericho?

The indian guy's from a million things.

Also, as far as Brian Wehman's recap-- he left out that during hte black guy's family's interrogation, the way the father had his daughter sneak away to cover the entrance to the basement room with a shelf, and how he manipulated the cops into finding the badge, and basically gaining the guy's trust... At the end of the interroggation, the black guy had the grey guy agreeing to come to him with any new information. It was kinda well done, actually.
i am liking this show...for all of its faults, they do some things incredibly well.

Like Bretchsky mentioned, the way the black guy ended up manipulating that entire interrogation was brilliant, culminating with the convenient finding of an FBI badge. I really liked that.

The shoot out at the hospital felt a little tacked on, and Eric seems more and more useless as the show progresses. Early on he seemed to embrace his role as assistant mayor, but now he is just taking the backseat to everyone.

And having one of the tensions in the episode revolve around making ice...a bit overdramatic.

Thanks for that, guys!
i like the show and watch almost every week but whats getting to me is how they have to make every. sngle. thing. into a f'ing crisis! jeez! you're just MAKING ICE for crissake! we don't need the drama or the action music. every small thing becomes like a matter of life-and-death! space it out a little. save the suspense for the REAL action/suspense stuff.

When she wouldn't give the antique back to the girl for the 6 pack I wanted her dead. Just a miserable person who got what she deserved.
So, I guess the rule is about every four episodes something big happens(probably something for next weeks cliffhanger too).

This week was nice and surprising. Is China helping or invading and why do they have American equipment? When is the showdown between the town and the thieves going to occur? Who killed Gracie? Where did Major Dad's cough go? Is that really Kelly from Coach as the bartender?

Just shocking all around.

You're not the only one, I also cheered! I couldn't stand that old bitch...
I laughed my ass off. Easily, the most enjoyable scene of the show so far.
Great! When Gracie got stabbed, I said aloud (I was by myself mind you).. "Finally". She was so annoying. Much like anya, when she wouldn't give back the antique, I wished ehr dead right there. It's the middle of fucking war (or whatever) and she is still trying to mack a buck. Come on...

Anyway, looking forward to next week. Be intersting to see if they can pull off a good fall cliffhanger.

A good cliffhanger would be a message from the government, finding out what the black guy's(name?) intentions are, or some significant contact with other survivors or the Chinese. That and I'm sure someone else will die.
