I got my tickets. Its going to kick ass. That Nightmare kit they sent you in the mail is so awesome. Just pray they don't release Freddy's Revenge on infinifilm and send you a box of S&M shit and a parakeet.

Hah, or when they get to Freddy's Dead and send along a gigantic used Q-tip or something...

I should probably pick up tickets soon. I need to see this in theaters.... I'm very interested in the best kills montage. You'd think they would've thrown that on a dvd- hell, that would make a great party video.

I was raised on the first two on HBO by a rockin' babysitter. Talk about a nerdgasm. I wonder if they'll show any of them here in Canada, or is it only in the States?

I'm assuming this rerelease is going to be merely a projection of the new DVD, right? That's how the Land of the Dead rerelease last year worked. I'd love to see this in theaters, but I'm not interested unless it's on film. Anybody know for sure?

No Canadian dates as far as I can see.

And as far is it being on film- it doesn't say for certain- the press release only mentions that its in "High-Definition and cinema surround sound."

But it is to promote the dvd release, so it might just be the disc...

I'm rounding up the crew to check this out thursday, either way. Can't wait.

Lucky Munky. One of my all time faves.

its probably the dvd

even if it is the dvd (which it has to be), im interested to see the new transfer in a huge theater with actual people. no matter what the source is, its still nightmare on elmstreet in the theater. unless you're onld enough to remember seeing it in the theater, it should be a great experience that most people have never had. wont it be the best the film has ever looked?

It will. That dvd is the goods.

I think I might have to hold off on seeing this tonight though, because of this.

What's the catch? No, seriously, free double feature, drinks, IFC Center- what's the fucking catch? You have to eat a kitten, don't you? This sounds supermegaawesome.
The catch is that people are probably going to be lining up for hours before this friggin' thing. I hate that.

Hope that doesn't happen- cause it sounds great.

Hope you didn't come tonight Fabfunk. Audience really fucking pissed me off.... yes, Nightmare was made in the 80s. Things are out of date. It doesn't make the whole thing a comedy. Losers were laughing throughout this whole thing and cracking lame jokes left and right (all right, a few were funny... but not throughout the whole damn movie)

I left before Friday came on.

wow. i had the same fucking experience seeing it here when it came out for the dvd release in the theater. people thought it was such a great fucking comedy. i think people like that don't really understand horror and nightmare's place in history, so they laugh at it because with a lot of movies, there is a lot to laugh at. however, in the case of nightmare, if you laugh at that, you probably dont have any experience seeing it until now and you have no clue how to react to it properly. i feel bad for these kids today that are reduced to viewing nightmare as some cheesy eighties movie. for most of us, i think thats a movie we saw a long time ago before half the horror movies that came out were intended to be funny. but even if we saw it a long time ago, i still dont view it as cheesy because the effects were quite good for a movie that ran out of money and almost didnt come out. they created some great effects. i dont know if im making sense, but i got so pissed when i read what you wrote because the same thing happened to me. fucking idiots.

It reminded me why I prefer to watch movies at home. I don't need some jerkoff giggling every friggin' line of dialogue. I think people's ideas of the film have been changed by the sequels, and the all the goddamn self-referential flicks that have come out since Scream.

I'm actually writing an editorial about it...

I hear ya. It's not just horror flicks either... I sat through the entire 3 hours of King Kong opening weekend with chuckleheads giggling. Fortunately the louder action moments drowned them out.

Yeah, I screwed up, thought it was on Friday.

They don't make horror movies anymore because of crowds like that. Thanks for letting me know it wasn't a waste to stay away.

Yeah, I was glad when the music started pumping whenever Freddy went running after one of the girls. It really does drive me nuts. I know that not everyone's movie buffs like us, but goddamn- show some respect to the films. Don't get me wrong, I love ribbing on a good b-movie or shitty slasher flick (the whole theater cracking jokes during Halloween Resurrection was one of the best theater experiences I've had) but there's a time and a place.

Fab- the only thing you missed was the goodie bags. Got some nifty shwag, even if most of it is Fuse related. It's actually a shame, cause it was pretty goddamn cool to be seeing a nice print of Nightmare on the big screen- shame the rest of the people ruined it.

I'm not sure it's the times. I saw Friday the 13th Part 3D in theaters in 1982. I didn't hear a fucking word.

that's because you were entranced by the stunning visual quality of the 3d used in that particular feature.

The 3D yo-yo technology in that film is unmatched to this day.
