You are a god among insects, Mr. Thompson.

I don't have Tivo, mainly because I simply wouldn't have the time to go back and watch all the crap that I record, so I am stuck watching commercials. A few have caught my eye as being pretty funny, particularly the Geico commercials with has-been stars accompanying fat real people. I also laugh my ass off at those Hummer commercials with the fake magician and his creepy Asian assistant.

Saw a couple of new ones for Yahoo! tonight. The air bag recall was pretty good.

But the one that made me laugh was the one about fertilizer in a bottle. When the little girl's dog was resurrected, I laughed pretty good. Just didn't see it coming....

It's not on much now that the US Open is over, but that Nike commercial with everyone singing "I Feel Pretty" as Maria Sharapova walked out to the court was absolutely brilliant.
Was anyone else weirded out by the Ford commercial with the family seemingly on a vacation and it turns out the parents are divorced and the Dad is just around for the weekend? It was an ending I certainly didn't see coming.
Yeah, that one is kind of strange, "Ford, hey, you're divorced, but you can still ride in our cars."
I am overjoyed that the staples "Copycat" commercial is coming back.

Kept hearing about that from friends, but never saw it. Always saw the one with Roddick vs. Pong....

Edit: Got the bright idea to check YouTube, and found it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P-_CgWugraA

Thanks for the link, WayDen. That was great.

HEAD ON! Apply directly to the forehead! HEAD ON! Apply directly to the forehead! HEAD ON! Apply directly to the forehead!

That slays me every time.
Am I the only one that finds the Apple/PC commercials with Justin Long...really...really annoying.

I love the expression on the woman's face as she's passionately rubbing it into her head.

Anyone else seen this creepy as hell PS3 commercial?

And am I this out of the loop? Does that date at the end say it's coming out in five days?! It looks like 11/7, but I can't be sure because the ones look just like slashes....
Hell yes WayDen! The first time I saw that damn doll my balls shrunk.

Had anyone seen the Gears of War spot? Pretty damn good with "Mad World" playing along with the action.
Just looked it up on Sony's website - PS3 coming out on 11/17!!

I guess I am that out of the loop...

Minute long Gears of War commercial
I've been watching less and less tv, so this is the first time I've seen the following commercial-

It's for Kleenex, and they take these blue chairs and just sit down with people in heavy foot traffic areas of the city.

And these people talk about everything under the sun, being in love, good times, bad times, etc. Yes, tears flowing and reaching for Kleenex as they naturally open up to a complete stranger, on camera, on the sidewalk.

Yes, I know they're actors, but this commercial is as good a reason as any to shoot your tv. It's everything I hate about this type of "we care about you, we care about your family." advertising.

I presume kleenex sales have dipped and the fact that this product is used to wipe up human emissions isn't the angle the Kleenex bigwigs want to be associated with.

On the one hand, it's a product and they have a right to adverstise it how they choose. But it's also this "it's not about how effective our product is, it's about how important our product is in your family's lives." bullshit that makes me yearn for even more public displays of anti-consumer art attacks.

But that's just me....

Has anybody seen the new Old Spice ad that's been running? I don't want to spoil anything if you have yet to catch it, but it's easily one of the funniest commercials ever. I'm gonna have to resist telling you who's in it so you can be as pleasantly surprised as I was.

OS definitely picked "The Man" for this ad campaign, and I promise you won't be disappointed once you finally get see it.
I saw who was in the "Old Spice" ad, but I was on the phone and couldn't hear what he was saying. Hopefully it'll show up more, though it sure seemed like a long ad.

As a fan of the Coors' "Coach press conference" spots I was glad to see them finally base one around Jim Mora's "Playoffs?" rant:

Big fan of the Geico cavemen, as I'm sure most people are.

I'm turned off by the sexuality of the "Axe Effect" ads, though. Making women into rabid, foaming-at-the-mouth horndogs just like men sure doesn't seem all that progressive or funny.

Personally, I'm a fan of the ones that start off this way, but then cut to someone saying something to the effect of, "I HATE your commercials, but I LOVE your product!"

I've only seen the one with the black guy. Are there others?

Two that I know of. There's that one, and one with a woman.

Anyone else get a "This Is Not Your Country" vibe from those incessant "This Is Our Country" Chevy commercials?

That Old Spice one is . . . strange.

I simply can't stand it now due to the overexposure during NFL football broadcasts.
The hand in the box from the OfficeMax ads screams as one of those "I can't believe they are actually using that idea!" type ad campaigns. The joke's on OfficeMax, I'm creeped out and don't want to go to their store.
What I like about those "This is our country" ads is that GM Canada is using the song as well. I just found it mildly amusing that we're using an American folk rock song in our patriotic Canadian ads which of course show us playing hockey about five or six times.

Favorite super bowl ad so far? anyone?

I liked the "Language Seminar" bud ad
Not a superbowl ad, but my favorite ad of late is the cell phone one where the father matter-of-factly tells his daughter, "Maybe you should have uglier friends."
My favorite ad for tonight was the Ultraman battle.
Was there any big film spots this year? I'm in Canada so our ads were filtered down into...well, the crappy products.
My favorite had to be the face slap replacing the fist bump. Now I just hope my friends don't take it seriously.

Ugh, the presence of Mencia kept that from having any humor for me. That and the fact that that concept has been done way better in Stripes and My Name Is Earl.

I second the love for the Ultraman spot, and the Letterman/Oprah bumper was hysterical. Other than that, it was a real wasteland tonight.

And the only real movie ad I recall seeing was for The Shooter, which I wouldn't call a big deal by any stretch.
That SalesGenie ad was beyond terrible. It was so ridiculous that I kept waiting for a punchline that never came. I actually thought the K-Fed ad wasn't too bad.
My fav. had to be the Robert Goulet one just based on sheer randomness alone. Other good ones were e*trade's "One Finger" ad, the Ultraman battle, and depressed GM robot (if only for the fact that they took it as far as they did).

What, no love for Beard Comb-over?

Anyone seen this new one from Nike yet? No dialogue, just some operatic music set to the tone of the home team losing the game. Just something about it I liked... http://www.nike.com/jumpman23/home/i...v_ct&itid=1137

I've seen the shorter version of the commercial, which works a little better, I think.

I'm going to stab someone if I have to see that fucking car commercial with a bunch of US Presidents in the background again.

A-men.
Just went searching for it on YouTube (which I should've done in the first place), and here it is if you don't want to view it on Nike's site.

Also while searching though, I found this other Nike commercial that I thought was pretty cool, but only saw it a couple of times. Really well done...

Is that Claire Danes in the new annoying GAP commercial?
Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's Danes and Patrick Wilson. Bugged me there for a second.

Annoying and GAP go hand and hand. They're the same thing.
Wait, are we talking about the "Anything You Can Do I Can Do Better" one?
Yeah.
I like that commercial where the midgets make hamburgers.
In that "Anything You Can Do" Gap ad, isn't that Julia Sweeney (SNL's Pat) singing?
Last night I saw a commercial for Dodge Trucks (I think), and at one point a tiny Rock-em Sock-em Robot walks out, punches the Dodge (or whatever) logo, and then just walks away. It was so completely random that I just had to laugh.

Also, in regards to that annoying GAP ad, Claire Danes has nice legs. That's all I got.
I don't know about you guys, but the Vcast phone commercials where people randomly come up to the camera and tell you (the camera) something along the lines of "check out this rockin' tune!" creep me out.

If some sweaty freak did that to me, he'd have a hard time answering his phone on the next call...
