Given my propensity to mute all commercials during (non-Super Bowl) football games, I've only seen this commercial with the sound off... and it's still disturbingly funny. Quite out-of-character for Walmart for sure.

The clown WalMart commercial is the best.

I was watching something the other day, and I saw Casey Seimasko in a commercial for Subaru. It was kind of a weird commercial. This guy just shows up and gives him a ride to a movie set--at least it appears to be a movie set. I didn't really "get" the commercial.

The new Windows 7 commercials. There's two of them that I know of, but they feature some guy standing there with his laptop, talking about how he had some epiphany about something Windows should have, and then it cuts to him having the epiphany (one is the guy in a shower, and in the other it's the guy outside trimming his hedges) and it's a totally different actor. The epiphany guy looks similar, but it's a totally different guy. It's nuts and it makes me watch every time.
It's just a dramatization featuring a handsome actor, not sure what's so "nuts" about that.

But yeah, that commercial makes me hate.
The dramatic actor trimming the hedges so wishes he was Michael Shanks.

But hey, who needs spokes people when you have CGI lizards?

The latest Windows 7 ad uses the zombie vs shark scene from Fulci's Zombie.

And therefore became one of the coolest commercials EVER.

I don't care if you wear no pants, don't fucking sing about it.

Looks like I'm not the only one watching SportsCenter.

French Open, actually, but it's also being played ad nauseum on all of ESPN's channels lately.

I laughed at George Washington driving down the British in a Dodge Challenger. It was stupid but funny.

MASSIVELY DISTURBING PUPPET ALERT! Saw this commercial for Yakult on tv last night:

www.youtube.com/watch?v=kjffmG9Z7zE

It's like the Tickle Me Elmo people decided to make merchandise for Peter Jackson's Dead Alive. See you in my nightmares, puppet!

Aw, I thought he was cute. Such a cuddly digestive tract!

Incredibly cute.

Words cannot describe the joy I get from watching the Geico commercial with the little pig hanging out the window. When the guy says, "Did the little pig say 'Wee wee wee' all the way home?" I knew it was coming, but him holding the goddamn pinwheels just destroys me. And then he's "Oh, thanks Mrs. A" at the end.

The long suffering look on Mrs A's face at the end is the icing on the cake. I've been in that position before, and it's just not pretty.

"Weeeeeee!"

I now basically never see any commercials unless I'm watching TV News. I find them psychologically manipulative and unnerving. Each one is louder or crazier than the one that came before, and after five minutes of that it's difficult to get back into whatever you were watching.

My least favorite commercial in recent memory is the one for STAPLES where the two men shout "WOW, THAT'S A LOW PRICE!""I KNOW!" at the top of their lungs for 30 seconds. The crass and cynical desperation that commercial represents, having the actors shout shrilly simply because the company knows that it will result in people looking at their screens, kind of convinces me that commercials are wholy toxic and should be avoided at all costs

PS I recently saw a commercial for some kind of insurance company that featured Bob Wiltfong! I last saw him in a Dominos commercial where he said that the family could turn on the lights now that Dominos saved them money on Pizza. However, that was at least two years ago..

He is my second favorite Daily Show contributer of all time, having worked on the show back when I watched it every day... which was aprox Feb 2004- Jan 2006. He was a comic genius that had some kind of falling out with Jon Stewart and was unfairly axed. They let his contract expire but refused to put him on the show anymore. I wrote him a letter one time offering my support, and he actually wrote back. He is extremely classy, so keep an eye out for this commercial. He is some kind of insurance fixer, who comes into peoples homes and offers reduced deals, often after checking on the phone with headquarters. I will update this post if I can remember what company it's for

EDIT: I guess I should add that the letter he wrote me was actually fairly lengthy, a full page of text!

Plus the one guy is Joey Slotnick, who's been on actual TV shows. Kind of depressing to see him slumming it in a Staples ad.

That is depressing. I wasn't slamming that person as an actor, just saying I found the screaming unbearable. That obviously was not his creative decision though

BTW: Bob Wiltfong is doing commercials for NATIONWIDE insurance, it turns out. Here is a fascinating interview with him that talks about commercials, as well as his latest NATIONWIDE gig

I'm pretty sure I saw a commercial last night where a tampon rode a mechanical bull.

Windows 7 one. It's about Kevin getting funny videos from back home. The one he shows is a guy doing pushups with his tongue. He's all like "Now, that's funny" and the girl's face next to him just slays me.

I love the snickers one with the two boys in the candy isle of the grocery store in a two person disguise as an adult, pushing snickers on another shopper. I think it's really that mask that kills me.

I keep thinking that if I ignore that Subaru ad with "If I Should Fall From Grace With God," I can make believe it never happened. Ah, Shane... times that tough?

Man's gotta drink. I remember this super annoying UK TV ad (another car commercial) that was on all the time in the early 90s, almost made me sick of hearing "Fiesta".

I saw that commercial drunk. Scared the piss out of me.

Oh wow... that commercial IS terrifying.

The Volkswagen "sign and drive" commercials (with the hand spinning the pens that don't match up with the rest of the body) deserve to be on the CHUD's Worst CGI list.

Does anyone else think it's a little weird that the CIA is doing career advertising on TV now (youtube tells me that 'ciacareers' has had a channel for a couple of years, but I saw a commercial for the first time about a week ago)?

The "Beatles on iTunes" commercials are starting to get WAY over played. They are cool commercials but they need to cut back a bit.

Glad I'm not the only one who thinks so.

The songs they mash together for the Verizon christmas commercials are also pretty bad. Jingle All the Way and Our House...really?

Am I the only one who noticed Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang's ProtoCop make an appearance in RadioShack's 'Holiday Hero' commercials?

Fave commercial from the SB:  The Bridgestone Tire beaver spot.

The Eminem/Chrysler commercial was very well done. I really liked the guy that thinks he hit "reply all" to the e-mail and went around stealing or destroying everyones computer.

ok. Anyone else freaked out by the Geico commercial where the guy calls the radio station to ask if a record has been broken for buying car insurance online?   Then he says "What if I told you I was using one hand??"  Isn't that the punchline of every online masturbation joke. How is this even on the air??

Dear McDonalds,

We don't have to like each other.  You're everywhere, I'm lazy and cheap and unhealthy, so even if I hate you, we will never really be through with each other.  We're like divorced parents who share custody of my self-loathing.

That being the case, you really don't need to advertise to me.  But if you insist on doing so, please don't try to convince me you are a great place to pick up chicks.  This charade only degrades us both.

Sincerely,

Albert J. Schwartz III

Hey, you really should add 'esquire' to the end of your name to give it even more gravitas.

And speak for yourself about picking up chicks at Mickey D's. I just got a ten piece there just the other day....

Saw this Kayak ad really late at night and have to say it kinda fucked with me just a lil bit. Mostly because of how his eyes flick about near the end:

I'd probably pay to see an John Malkovich talk to Siri for an hour and a half.
