I wanted to get seriously pissed off when people started completely freaking out during the trailer when it showed before Jackass Number Two, but I realized that: a) a majority of the movie-going public has absolutely no taste in horror films, and b) that same majority is apparently deathly afraid of long, unkempt black hair.

yeah they're really putting the focus on the crazy black hair this time around. which is good because that is what I thought the first one was lacking. i mean, its so dark and hair-like...gives me the creeps. frankly, im too scared to see this one in the theaters, you know, because of that darn hair that seems to want to enslave us all. so people were hyped up for it at jackass 2, huh?

If this is the US remake, then it's actually the 8th Ju-On film.

Yeah. I should have kind of realized that I was being a horror film elitist while waiting to watch a movie that wasn't exactly the bastion of high-brow film, but...you know.

I really hate that Grudge 2 trailer. I have the feeling that they threw every scare into it just to say "LOOK! IT'S SCARY! LOOK AT ALL THESE PALE WHITE CREEPY KIDS WITH HAIR IN THEIR FACES! IT'S CRAZY!"

Just scare after scare after scare, and it doesn't even make for a creepy trailer. Bah.

I loved the first one, and that's funny for me to admit- but the only reason I loved it is because for some reason it made my girl scared beyond belief. So I actually do want to see the second, if only to have her try to burrow into my side again.

So.... Ju-On: The Grudge 2 is pretty bad. It does some interesting things with the narrative... but it's really not scary at all. That doesn't bode well for this sequel at all... not that I was holding out much hope for it.

The Grudge 2 is tracking for a $22 million weekend. That's a hell of a drop from The Grudge's $40 million opening weekend. Guess DVD sales were an indicator that WOM on the first wasn't exactly stellar.

enough people had good sense to see the departed instead of tcm:tb last weekend, hopefully they stay away from the grudge 2. i think im going to go see departed this week.
